Obviously car options are limited to the ones chosen by server admin. To find your GUID go to My Documents\Assetto Corsa\cfg\race.ini > Open the file with Notepad and scroll to the [REMOTE] section > Your GUID is the last item listed in that section. Once you have it copy and pm it to the server admin and he can add you to the server, remember to chose a car as well or he will have to chose at random for you. Oh, and finally tell him your profile name used in Assetto. When looking for the room you will have to change your filter to show Hosts that are not in Booking Session and look for simracing.org.uk. If it flashes red you are getting FFB clipping and that means your FFB gain is set too high (setting under advanced in controllers). Too much FFB means the game is sending more information than your controller can handle giving incorrect feedback, most noticeable in corners, near kerbs etc. and may appear as dodgy handling. Tyre temperatures and wear tyre temperatures and wear (http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?threads/tyre-temperatures-and-wear.2723/) LOTUS EXOS 125 Tyres The Lotus Exos 125, uses specific slick tyres for dry and for wet conditions. Unfortunately in AC we don't have yet wet conditions, so for now you only get the dry tyres. Those tyres have their optimum range temperature between 90°C and 120°C. Although it is a quite wide range, they do get pretty nasty if they cold down under 60°C, so be careful, especially on slow tracks like magione on cold days. In terms of tyre wear, the tyres should be able to go through the whole fuel tank of the car without any big problems. LOTUS EXOS 125 S1 Tyres The Stage 1 version of the Exos is more specialised car, that also carries 4 different dry slicks compounds. Namely SuperSoft, Soft, Medium and Hard. Each compound has a very different range of optimum tyre temperatures and wear characteristics. Super Soft: 85°C -110°C. The tyre will wear quite fast. Practically you'll be able to do 7-10 laps before having severe degradation Soft: 105°C -125°C The tyre will last a bit more than the SuperSofts. You could do around 15-20 laps but the degradation will be linear as you cover more distance Medium: 90°C -115°C The tyre will last for a long distance. It might be even possible to do a whole distance race, but you will experience slower laptimes towards the end Hard: 110°C -135°C A very stable tyre. Obviously less grip than the others but if the temperatures are good and the driving style adeguate, it might even be possible to do the best laptimes, towards the end of the stint, when the fuel tank will be empty. The main thing to understand with those tyres (and also other AC tyres too), is that a SuperSoft tyre won't be always better than a Medium tyre. Depending on track, ambient and asphalt temperatures and driving styles, you need to find which compound suits the conditions better. You might have seen in real life F1 that sometimes drivers&teams use the harder tyre to make faster laptimes in race, or the other way around. It really depends to a variety of factors, so don't take anything as granted. Road legal tyres Street and semislicks are road legal compounds, used on the road. They wear out slightly. Their main problem is overheating, but after you have overheat them you can wait and start again, they can give similar grip even after lots of km's. In the end they will wear and lose grip totally. Street tyres optimum temp: 75°C - 85°C but "easy" under and over those temps. Very easy to overheat after some laps on a circuit, especially on fast corners. Semislicks: 75°C - 100°C but a bit less grip under that and overheat quite faster over that. They have more grip of course and can resist more fast laps, but do not like much abuse and drifting. They wear gradually and lose grip km after km. GT2 slicks: The main difference of the GT2 cars is that manufacturers are actively developing tyres during the season and bring different compounds on the various tracks. We can't of course simulate specific compounds for specific tracks, but we offer 5 different compounds SuperSoft: 90-105°C Don't like to be driven under or over that range. They wear out very fast Soft : 90-105°C as Supersofts. they wear out fast Medium: 85°C-105°C as supersofts over their range. They wear out in a linear gradual way Hard: 80-100°C a tiny bit easier than supersoft outside their range but nothing too radical. They wear just a tiny bit after the initial laps and then stay quite stable for a long time until they start to lose lot's of grip SuperHard: 80-100°C as Hards. They wear a tiny bit and stay stable for lot's of laps until they let go. GT3 slicks. The biggest difference between GT2 and GT3 cars are their tyres. GT3 tyres are fixed for the whole season and the organization decides what tyres the car have to use. We provide 3 compounds that are not equivalent to their GT2 counterparts (worse). Softs: 80-110°C . Wear VERY fast. We've been told that they were actually used only for a couple of times in qualifying. Mediums: 75-105°C Wear linearly and predictably. all around tyre Hard: 70-100°C Wear a tiny bit after a couple of laps and stay stable for a long sting. Not great grip but they are predictable and can be used in a wide variety of tracks and temperatures. Often "forced" by regulations on cars. Hypercars slicks (Zonda R and 599XX) are a bit worse parents of the GT3 tyres. Let's say a generation behind. Rest of their characteristics is very similar to the GT3 tyres. Vintage F1 67 Tyres We provide just one compound for such tyres, although we learned there were actually different compounds. As a matter of fact, there is documentation reporting that Jim Clark choose the tyre that permit him to slide more for the race at Monza. Unfortunately there is not enough documentation for the compounds so for now we stick with just one compound. If anybody has more info regarding the matter, I'd be happy to discuss with it. optimum range 50-90°C The tyres are good at low temps, and can withstand overheating pretty well. The tyre wear is gradual, you can expect to do a full race without problems, except if you overdrive and overheat them too much. The tyre ranges are not perfect ranges but a min max range that you might not be able to understand a difference in tyre grip. Temperatures are also vary quite widely from straight to inside a turn, so optimally you need a tyre that stays at the lower end of the optimum temperature just before the braking zone and at the higher end of the optimum temperature at the exit of the turn. Not so easy to obtain. In AC going outside the optimum range, doesn't mean the car will become undriveable. This characteristic is a double sword. You might think the car is good, but you're not driving on the optimum grip, so you'll lose time without understanding it. There's depth to be found and explored within the AC tyre model. Another hint for tyre temperatures, as in real life, use more camber to heat faster a part of the tyre tread and then this dissipate to the rest of the tyre. More camber, more heat, less camber, less heat. Viewing other drivers in the game. Title: Re: Assetto Corsa Tips Post by: Johnny X on June 07, 2014, 09:47:18 AM +0100 Thanks for that Jester.
I'm hopeless at car setup, the pack will give me some ideas. Title: Re: Assetto Corsa Tips Post by: Mark J on June 07, 2014, 10:40:25 AM +0100 good work Jester, cheers for all that info :)
Title: Re: Assetto Corsa Tips Post by: Mark J on June 12, 2014, 12:59:09 PM +0100 another tip:- if you turn the 'pedal app' on and watch the right hand bar.
I had to crank mine down to 80% (watching the app) and may need to go lower once I test it a bit more. Title: Re: Assetto Corsa Tips Post by: Wiltshire Tony on June 29, 2014, 07:08:09 PM +0100 Where do I get a change setup option in-game. I want to reduce the gearing of my car and just don't see where to do this.
Title: Re: Assetto Corsa Tips Post by: goldtop on June 29, 2014, 07:28:13 PM +0100 Where do I get a change setup option in-game. I want to reduce the gearing of my car and just don't see where to do this. When you enter the game you should see your car sitting in the pits or on track depending on what session you chose in the launcher. On the left side of the screen you'll see some icons......click the one with the spanner and you'll enter the setup menu. Then scroll across the tabs at the top to adjust the various settings. Some cars have more options to tweak than others and in the case of road cars you cannot adjust the gears ;) Title: Re: Assetto Corsa Tips Post by: Jester on July 17, 2014, 12:06:08 PM +0100 Edited part of camera view. F5 view is controlled by mouse.
Title: Re: Assetto Corsa Tips Post by: spanner on July 26, 2014, 05:26:21 PM +0100 Sorry but you've got me hooked :P
Is there a FPS counter? the render stats app was saying 30fps which was worrying though it didnt 'feel' like it? Is there a grraphics setup guide? I'm running triples and doesnt seem particularly responsive, like steering lag and the display seems quite washed out. I'll get round to registering on the official forums soon! Title: Re: Assetto Corsa Tips Post by: Johnny X on August 23, 2014, 10:09:35 PM +0100 I discovered today that setting FFB to 107% in the Logitech profiler and the AC game profile, then setting the game to 100% Gain and then setting the gain in the car setup to around 70% I've cured the slackness around centre on the G27. Suddenly it feels like a sim and not a PITA.
Basically just a case of tuning the FFB for each car now using the pedal ap to look for clipping and "feel". Took 2 secs off my pb at Monza with the Z4 GT without any changes to set up, just through getting the wheel sorted. After last nights rear impact cracked my screen it kind of ruined my race from very impaired vision! Title: Re: Assetto Corsa Tips Post by: Jester on January 15, 2015, 11:09:39 AM +0000 Anyone know what the 'less cracked screen' mod is required and to what file? After last nights rear impact cracked my screen it kind of ruined my race from very impaired vision! I found this on assettocorsa.net (http://www.assettocorsa.net/forum/index.php?search/567673/&q=glass&o=date) In the meantime, an easy solution to make this sensibility lower: Look in "Assettocorsa\system\cfg\assetto_corsa.ini" for this lign: [DAMAGE] GLASS_THRESHOLD=0.65 Changing the value to 0.90 for example still will crack the windshield in case of a normal impact, but won't crack for a single one light tap on your rear bumper. I tested it and it works ok, but I found it still too fast and set on 1.10. I don't know what the reality is on car damage, but the glass shattering is ridicules and with this the car damage is the same without the too quickly shattered screen. Title: Re: Assetto Corsa Tips Post by: Mark J on January 15, 2015, 07:50:33 PM +0000 Thanks Jester, will edit the file accordingly as it's inaccurate at moment.
Title: Re: Assetto Corsa Tips Post by: BillThomas on January 17, 2015, 12:06:36 PM +0000 I think it useful to add the link Tony provided when I raised the problem of my virus/malware stopping AS. I've at last found the time and energy to write to iolo Support Center who provided me with step-by-step instructions to exclude the so called "false positive", in other words, it detects something that could be a virus, but in fact is not.
I have now exclude this file from my real time and scan protection and successfully installed AS which is now working. :jumpjoy:  Title: Re: Assetto Corsa Tips Post by: goldtop on January 17, 2015, 12:13:47 PM +0000 Good to hear you're back in action Bill and that you've sorted out AC. We have an E30 M3 race on Wednesday which I think you'll enjoy :)

I had all the cars and tracks but since lunch I've tried to drive and my selected event won't load. I get the multi point wheel and the word Loading but the wheel is stationary and times out after a while. ::) ??? Any Suggestions - have the latest video drivers which I downloaded for the GTL problem. Title: Re: Assetto Corsa Tips Post by: spanner on January 17, 2015, 04:02:33 PM +0000 There are two files you need to stop blocking ACS.exe and AssettoCorsa.exe. One handles the front end GUI the other is the actual game engine, when you get on track. Sounds like your PC is blocking access to the other! Blimey you run some serious AV/ firewall there, industrial grade is it Bil?

(Not sure of the exact route off the top of my head.) Will check later to see my installation still has those two exe files. Blocking a steam download file sounds suspicious. firewall is not blocking them from accessing the internet?
Title: Re: Assetto Corsa Tips Post by: BillThomas on January 17, 2015, 06:07:10 PM +0000 Having thought about this I realised my anti-virus/malware blocks the suspected infected file. I have instructed my system to stop scanning the AS false virus file in both real time and routine scans, thus allowing it to be including in the download. No files are blocked.
Title: Re: Assetto Corsa Tips Post by: BillThomas on January 17, 2015, 06:12:05 PM +0000 You have the latest updates? Title: Re: Assetto Corsa Tips Post by: Animal Ed on January 17, 2015, 10:06:22 PM +0000 Downloading folder is buffer for official updates so, if something was left inside, the game is not updated correctly.
Did you try to verify integrity of game cache? Steam, library, click on AC, right mouse click for properties, click on local files and let steam to check and correct game files - without interruption from AV because it could block something again. Title: Re: Assetto Corsa Tips Post by: Mark J on March 08, 2015, 12:31:56 PM +0000 I can heartily recommend the FFBClip pro app for AC. Its great. It allows you to set the recommended FFB gain for your particular steering wheel first of all. Then you can individually tweak the correct in car ffb for each car/track combo and you can save that ffb setting with your setup (ie its in the garage setup menu). I found it extremely useful and gave me much better feedback for the various effects and lessened the amount of steering wrestle I was doing in some cars by keeping to the stock 100% ffb. It can vary considerably between cars.

There are iRacing and AC versions.

Ps I would recommend the spotter app for racing. Title: Re: Assetto Corsa Tips Post by: Stefan aka Postal on November 08, 2020, 09:29:07 PM +0000 Need a bit of help guys. I now keep getting crashed back to Contant manager for some reason. CM suggested at one time to disable the setupmarket app, so i did. Unfortunately the game keeps crashing. Did a Steam integrety check earlier which said it needed to retreive 2 files and that is the case every time i reboot my pc.
So I am beginning to think something is wrong with my install or CM. Can I possibly find a clue in the log files? I just don't know what to look for.. Cheers Edit: updating the version from 1.46 to 1.60 only made the game crash harder. Now I can't even start a race anymore. Reverted back to the stock Kunos UI and that seems to work without problems. So I will not bother with CM for the next weeks. I just want to race! I get that too and I think it is quite normal. Note the important message at the bottom here (https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=2037-QEUH-3335). Do you run CSP/SOL from within CM? If so, might be worth deactivating those and then retry starting up with CM. Might help to narrow down the problem.
