Handicapping
The faster drivers may be asked to register for the Professionals Trophy (https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=14246.msg256514#msg256514).  All drivers do not have to stick with the same chassis for every race.  They can use the same chassis or a different one for each race as they see fit...but :

Drivers have a free chassis choice for the first race then handicapping defined by the moderation for the leaders.

There is no red zone for this championship. Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 incidents do carry an extra 1 place penalty.

Only reported incidents will be moderated.

If you would like to enter this series please submit an entry in the poll.

For Round 5 on 04 April 2017,

Road Ontario which seems to have a lot of troubles has been replaced by the new Remy and Ginetto's Road America

This is truly one of my favorite tracks. I knew that I just needed to be patient. The saying that "This made my week" is an understatement.

Not sure how many I will get to but I've registered as a reserve. Should make Riverside this evening.

There seems to be 2 versions of the Bridgehampton track under that link, which one 66 or 67?

Title: Re: Season 31 Amateurs Trophy Registration

Bridgehampton Raceway - CanAm 1966

(the more recent one)

I did not see the 1966 version until I found a different link.

http://www.cruisekids.com/gpl/bridgehampton/index.html

EDIT: ( I see my mistake now. I can follow the track link in the announcement. They put the 66 version with the 67 version. )

Welcome back Geoff,  you should do the specials too.
It'll suit an antipodean person like yourself as it's all backwards  ;)

It's great to see you racing again Geoff. Looks like quite a few CHR drivers are coming back this season. Bring back Al and Tom and I'll have no choice but to quit my job and start racing again 8)

Just quit sleep.

Just quit sleep.

That won't work in my case. For most of the month, I drive a small truck around Europe. This makes league racing rather impossible for me.

It wont work with me. I'm one of those weirdos, who need to use wheel for every car game. Once I've actually used my G25 in old trackmania ;D

Is it a modern enough truck to be drive by wire?
I'm sure you connect it to a laptop  ;D

I won't be able to do all the races, but I miss the racing. So I've registered as a reserve driver.

Lol. If it was possible, it would be so cool.  ;D

I asked Jean-François Bovy, one of the creator of Jehonville track, if he would like to join us on this serie and especially for his "own" track.
But when he tried to register, he got this answer :

Sorry, you are not allowed to register on this forum. Mass spam attack from popular email providers; if you aren't a spamner, please send an email to registration[at]simracing.org.uk with your desired username.

As requested, he sent an email to the mentionned link.
I hope he will be able to race with us.

Great idea. If it is a one off & Jean-Francois is driving as a guest you could just send the password & IP address by e-mail.

Hello,

I'd like to be included in the Amateur drivers list for this 65 trophy, if possible.
I'll try to be present in all 3 remaining races of this season.

Very glad to see that Jéhonville will have a rerun early July, by the way ;)

Thanks in advance,

JFB

Hello Jean-François

It should be OK for your registration.
You will see the pwd for the next 65 race (...in Belgium at Moulinsart, beware the Castafiore !!!) around 24 hours before the race and on the top of the related topic.

Not sure we will re-run Jehonville begin of July, it will probably be replaced by another track .

Now I think we have to take a decision for the final round of this serie after Jehonville race has been cancelled.

What do you propose ?

My opinion would be to race in a papyrus track, so we will not need lot of time to practice.
This season, we raced several times on quick track (Enna, Sebring ...)  so a track like Zandvoort or Watkins Glen could be a good choice ?

Just tell me !

Yes, a Papyrus track. I've had to learn enough this season. :)

Of the two proposed I would go for Watkins Glen.

Attendances have been down for the past few races. Zandvoort, the Glen or even Monza would be just fine.

How about Mosport or Mexico - or have we been there already?!

If so, I don't mind going again!

Cheers,
Dave.

I would like to count that race :)
Was't it half distance ?

I don't think it was quite halfway, maybe a couple of laps short of halfway. Not sure as no replay was saved.

Also, then we have the problem of who was leading. Your system said you were but mine and Dave Rainier's (so presumably the server too) said I was................

Put it to the vote.

Title: Re: Season 31 Amateurs Trophy Registration

The decision to cancel Jehonville is ultimately up to the series moderator. It was discussed by the mod team & this is consistent with past decision to re- run.

Title: Re: Season 31 Amateurs Trophy Registration
Post by: Rainier on June 22, 2017, 09:36:27 PM +0100
Yes Jehonville has been cancelled.

I propose the last race of this serie to be on 09 July or on 11 July (hoping someone would be available to launch the race server), on one of the following tracks :

Mosport, Watkins Glen, Zandvoort, Mexico, Monza

So I am asking the following drivers :

miner2049
Gareth
Bagrupp
Walter Conn
Dave Curtis
Francesco Molteni
Billy Nobrakes
b_1_r_d
roguk
JF Bovy
Czary
Kai J Daum
me
and anyone else who ran in this series,

to answer these questions before 5 July :

1 - Are you available on Sunday 09 July ? (My answer = YES)
2 - Are you available on Tuesday 11 July ? (YES)
3 - Give me your choices for this last race among these tracks (Mosport, Watkins Glen, Zandvoort, Mexico, Monza   or another papy track) ? first choice = 3 pts, 2nd = 2pts , 3rd = 1pt. The track with the maximum points will be selected

My choices 1 Zandvoort, 2 Watkins Glen, 3 Mosport

Sorry to disappoint you guys. But whatever we do, we cannot please all of the members all of the time.

The moderators felt that the numbers for the 65's were dwindling slightly at the end of last season, and as they had been well used over the past few years, maybe it would be good to bring in one of the other mods that we have alongside the new 55 mod for season 32.
Don't worry though, I am sure that they will return in the future.

The big problem that we have in GPL,( and I guess that it is a good problem to have in many respects ) is that we have 7 different carsets to choose from and only 2 evenings per week when we traditionally can race them. Our servers are free thanks to some dedicated and generous members who have to fire up their servers for the races,
If there was enough interest and commitment to race on an evening other than Sundays or Tuesdays, it might be possible to provide a server for a fun series. That would be dependent upon one of our server/member combinations being available........................... ::)

Yeah, too bad.

Might have to move to Sunday 67s as I'm not gripped by the 55s and don't like the GTs.
