Qualified 3rd with a last lap effort. Tris bogged down after the start and didn't want to make it 3 wide or risk too much so stayed in line. Lost a position to Roo. First laps were exciting with a train of cars at the front. I had set 6th gear 1 click taller and that helped not to lose too much time at the backstraight with the Coop.

Then Roo and Tris made mistakes and I could pass them. Almost lost touch with Axel, but especially the second part of the Esses I gained and could close up reasonably, and kept the tow. Last laps tried to get closer and rehearsed a possible move (last turn), and in the last lap I was closest, but not enough to get by Axel. ;)

Well deserved win for Axel, flawless, great job m8! :) Also nice podium for Dean, well done finishers. Commiserations to the retirements. Roo was very fast. Tris did set his final gear too short (for tow) it looked like...

I was happy with 4th on the grid & benefited from Tris' bog down. I was really enjoying the opening laps, unable to get past Axel without making an optimistic move so I tried to keep the pressure on &  eventually ran wide at the first hairpin which allowed Tris through. Another mistake let Robert past at the same corner a few laps later
Later Tris made a mistake so I was chasing him when his engine let go. I had nowhere to go & I ran into the back of him, letting Dean past. I chased Dean down & when he was in sight I had to take avoiding action & spun  :-\
Whilst chasing him down a second time I got it wrong into the first hairpin & rolled :(
Shame as I was feeling confident that I could catch & pass him in the 9 laps remaining.

Axel was solid & deserved the win, grats :) Grats too to Robert & Dean for equally well deserved podiums. Small consolation, I got the fastest lap (& a new pb).

Thanks to all for the racing & to the admins for hosting etc :)

Thanks guys, yes I had a very enjoyable race and a special thanks goes to Rob for this great fair battle. :fencing:

My setup and driving was all about to finish this race.
No real mistake happened and I saw Rob gaining in some parts,
but I knew the Coop has not enough grunt to catch me in the last sector  ;D
For the last turn I had a lower gear in reserve, instead taking it in third, I chose the second and it worked out.

Congratulations to Axel on his win. Robert, I kinda expected to be on the podium  ;) and then there was Dean  :o who showed how quick he really is. I was struggling back down the field with a car that just did not want to stop or take the fast turns, especially the final 180!!

I benefited from the retirements and mistakes of others to crawl up through the field.

A great drive from you Phillipe.  8)

I lost the comfortable gap that I had when I stopped concentrating, and for the last 10 laps you had me seriously worried that I might lose my 5th place!!  You might want to look carefully at your gear ratios, because I was pulling away from you on the long straight and that should not be possible in the Honda. But you were very quick on other parts of the track.  :scared: :scared:

Fine job for the win, Axel!  Sorry that I balked you in Q.  My bad...

Robert up to his usual standout drive making the little T77 Cooper perform so brilliantly.

Dean a fine drive to P3 and making my efforts in the red car look rather sedate.

Some notable fallers along the way.  Tris with an engine failure and spectacular exit after a nudge from Roo.  Lordy!  Bob getting out of phase in the esses and launching into the infield.  Roo with a great lap but it all coming undone in T6.  Without these mishaps, I would not have scored a P7.  Lucky boy.

Overall, my ride rather disappointing and not up to scratch.  The red car is fairly new to me...with only one exception, this is the first time I've used the Ferrari since 2010...and I need to hone the set.  A couple of spins at the top of the main straight and a pass or two through the polos.  Ugh!  Still, I managed some good laps late in the session having fallen back to get some clear air and avoid getting a tow which would skew any lap time result.  It's a work in progress.

Must say that Evil did a nice job in gunning me down and that was soon repeated by Philippe.  Good job, PG.
