Season 31 Historic Trophy – Round 6 - Virginia International Raceway

Virginia International Raceway (commonly known as "VIR") is a road course located in Alton, Virginia, near Danville. It is less than a half-mile from the North Carolina/Virginia border just outside Milton, North Carolina on the banks of the Dan River. The track was created by a group of men using a bulldozer and was opened on 3rd August 1957. It closed in 1974 but it was reopened in 2000 by Harvey Siegel and Connie Nyholm. VIR hosted the SCCA National Sports Car Championship from 1957 until the series' demise in 1964. The IMSA GT Championship visited VIR in 1971 and 1972 and the AMA Superbike Championship held races at VIR from 2001 until 2010 (on the North Course). The Rolex Sports Car Series utilized the Full Course from 2002 through 2011. The American Le Mans Series used the Full Course configuration for its inaugural event at VIR in September 2012 where a new track record was set by Klaus Graf driving the Muscle Milk LMP1 car. In total there are six track configurations at VIR, we are using the version known as "The Full Course".

This race is for cars with 3 Litre engines.

Sorry about the server problem tonight gents.  Thanks to Axel for stepping in with UKGPL 8.

I was having a decent race until I made a silly mistake and lost a wheel.  Never mind, onto round 7!

Had a good scrap with Fulvio for the first seven laps, then managed to pull a few seconds on him. Saw I was making ground on Alessandro ahead, so I pushed myself into a silly spin, losing two places. Trying to make it back up to fight for those spots, guess I overrevved the engine on lap 9 which then transformed itself into a contemporary HondaF1 unit, adding 30 secs/lap. Hope I stayed out of people's ways while trundling home for points.

I had a blast this race  ;D. Absolutely love racing around VIR, just a shame it does have a history of screen freezes.

It had been a while since I last raced here, so spent most of quali re-learning the track. Qualified in the mid grid and made a rubbish start thanks to my tall first gear. Was lucky to only lost a place to Bastian, but managed to claim the place back at the end of the lap. Proceeded to have a short battle with Andreas, before he ran wide at the Roller-coaster. Also benefited from Dean's spin & engine trouble which promoted me another place.

That set the scene for my race long battle with Fulvio & Alessandro. My underpowered Eagle was no match on the straights but its sweet handling made the difference through the corners. Lots of hard, fast racing and the time just flew by. A couple of laps from the end Alessandro ran wide on the exit of the Horseshoe. I cheekily went for the gap and pulled alongside, but as Alessandro went to take his line, the side by side contact pitched him into a spin  :(. Sorry about that, really enjoyed our battle up till then.

In fact, so quick was the race, I didn't even realise I finished when I did so just did another lap for the sake of it!!  ::) At least Fulvio copied me  ;D. Congrats to Tris & Axel for their podium places.

I have problems in braking and especially in the first phase of acceleration with may ass always in spin, my fortune was the engine that permitted me to defend in the straight, no too much bad until the second part of race but when car was light my setting was terrible..
No possible (at least for me  :D) to drive without any mistake and race was became a battle between me and my Lotus
Samb and Fulvio in the mirrors were always big and I try to defend my position but no possible, they drive "clean", I.. not! and any braking were different from lap to lap, great battle with they and compliments for correct line of all

@Samb, don't worry no contact between us, you was inside line correctly, I have see replay and there is safety distance but GPL have decided differently because I heard a bumb and I go wide, maybe simply I had to wait a while to tighten  :)

Compliments to Bot for victory and all the podium! and thanks Axel for solved server's problems and save the race!
