All members welcome.

Grid/server capacity: 28

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (16 laps)

Track: Reims Download this

Cars allowed: Shelby Cobra Pack Download this, Shelby Cobra 289/427.

Car restrictions: No restrictions
This race will use the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.8.0.0.

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk SCC
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the Championship standings page

Special Notes: Do not cross into the pit lane during racing or you will get a stop/go penalty.

LOL, It's the one without a track name (looks like Dave has forgotten to do it). I'll send him a post to get that fixed. BTW the track map is there, it's the one that resembles a triangle and it's between Raleigh Park and Riverside.

Seems all the cobras run out of legs (ha) and do the straights bouncing off the limiter
I did a few laps and the engines seem to last ok.

Sorry for the confusion regarding cars allowed last night. I had put in the race announcement that there would be no restrictions but obviously not everyone reads these  Roll Eyes In hindsight it would have been better if I had only allowed the larger engine Cobra.

Anyway the final three races will have the "usual" restrictions.

First off I would like to respectfully disagree that using the 427 would of been a better idea. You would of been at the top speed rpm limit more of the time with the 427. Mark and myself were in 289 Cobras. Mark in the FIA and myself in the regular version. The regular Cobra accelerates a bit quicker from the slow corners while the FIA Cobra accelerates a bit better from 4th gear on. FIA has better brakes. They both have almost the same top speed with the FIA with a very slight edge(but seemed to be the same in top speed when I was in the draft). Mark and myself had a wonderful battle for the first half of the race with neither of us able to get away from the other. It was as good as it gets yes. For the most part Mark was ahead of me but I tried several tactics to see where I was stronger. The best part was exiting the last DD corner with Mark ahead of me I was able to use the draft a bit and when shifting into 3rd my regular Cobra would gain a car length or so and along with a slingshot draft we would cross the finish line in a dead heat. It all depended on who got the slightly better exit from the last corner. It was such a shame that we could not of finished that way to see how it might of played out. Thanks for the good battle Mark Grin. Congrats to Geoffers for the win. Hristo for second. Also to Matt for his solid pody.

Smiley Great racing with you Navin, but I was in the same Cobra as you. I ditched the FIA as the gearing was wrong. I think it would have been better if we had all run this car in the race as there would have been some really good slip streaming. Perhaps Tony could run it again some time with a bigger field of drivers.  Wink

Anyway sorry I nodded off at the hairpin as you said it may have been a very close finish.
