Moderator's Report

Server 2, clear of Red Zone infringements....Remarkable gents.

Server replay time: 0h50m14s

Sergio gets together with Tristan for a little late night poker, a cigar and <ahem>. Both drivers trying hard but Sergio should have known that Tristan was up alongside and does not give him quite enough room. That would have been ok if Tris hadn't clipped the grass.

Drivers always need to give each other racing room and this is covered in the Etiquette section. It states: "If an overtaking driver has any part of their car beside another as they enter a corner, the driver being overtaken should not move across; they should give the overtaking car room and go through the corner side by side, or let them through into the corner and try to re-take them at the exit."

Is the breach enough for a penalty - I think this is just Porsche racing at its hardest but with the layout of the track Clouds could have left a bit more room and used the left hander to close the door.

It is never a bad idea for any standard of driver to err on the generous side when leaving room.

Season 22 - Porsche Super Cup
Race 7, Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps

The Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps is the venue of the Formula One Belgian Grand Prix and the Spa 24 Hours and 1000 km Spa endurance races. It is also home to the all Volkswagen club event, 25 Hours of Spa, run by the Uniroyal Fun Cup. And now it will be hosting Rnd.7 of the UKGPL Porsche Supercup, what a pedigree!! It is one of the most challenging race tracks in the world, mainly due to its fast, hilly and twisty nature. Spa is a favourite circuit of racing drivers and fans alike.

Designed in 1920 by Jules de Their and Henri Langlois Van Ophem, the original triangle-shaped course used public roads between the Belgian towns of Spa, Malmedy, and Stavelot. The track was intended to have hosted its inaugural race in August 1921, however this event had to be cancelled as there was only one entrant. The first car race was held at the circuit in 1922, and two years later saw the first running of the now famous 24 Hours of Francorchamps race. The circuit was first used for Grand Prix racing in 1925.

Well gents, strap on your Porsches and lets get into it.....

I've been invited to step in again as reserve driver, for Team Shadows.  I'd be happy to step down, and let Jason take his rightful spot, as Spa is fast, and my Porsche is slow. sweatdrop

Actually Jason still didn't give up officially (he only said he is not in very good moment) so untill now Jason is still on our roster for this race, but warm up your engines because it could be you have to use the 1st gear with Team Shadows if you want and Jason will not shows up for qualify.

Anyway, like I always say...the important is to finish the race but...I should look for another one who says the same thing to me  Tongue

Thx

didn't you remember we are in the same team ? why did you take so much risks in Masta, I would have let you easily pass just after without a fight !

Apologies Dave, I  had taken Masta on that line before and was confident that I would be OK. But I made an error and just touched the armco. Undecided

You are quite correct, I really should have waited and passed after Masta, especially as you are my team mate  Embarrassed   Sad   Really sorry to have ended your race there.

At the start, I was lucky to escape an accident, when the car ahead slowed unexpectedly at the first corner.  Thereafter, my race turned into a 2 way battle with Roberto.

With 5 laps to go, I made a mistake, and had to drive hard, to close a 5 second gap.  Until, with the last lap looming it was his turn to wobble.  The end of our dice, seemed like a throw of the dice, but once ahead, I managed to stay ahead to the finish. Cheesy

Great job Martin!
I know what a challenge such a fast track is for you  Roll Eyes
But we did a great team job... 2,3+7!

My race was lonely after Tristan had passed me and I could follow the action in pribluda...
My aim was to stay ahead of the 3 - 4 followers who kept together fighting.
After Sergios mistake he needed some laps to pass me and I hoped he will get Tris too.
But something must have happened in the last lap Roll Eyes

But it seems the team with those 2,5 pros can't be beaten!

My congratulations for the drivers on the 2 Podium's!

Fine track that Spa is, especially in a Porsche Wink

My aim was to stay ahead of the 3 - 4 followers who kept together fighting.

Fulvio and I were trying to work together.
Someway or the other it didn't work out.
I was faster in Malmady and Masta while Fulvio got the slipstream's very well.
Trying something else I let Fulvio go, and hahahahahahah I never got  passed him again Wink

Really loved the race, thanks Fulvio for that!

Cu, Pedro.

Wow! What a race!
It was great to dispute with Hunt, sorry that my car lost performance two laps to go, I made a mistake and lost the position.
Congratulations Hunt by arduous and clean race.
Too bad my work schedule will not let me run again.
 Good luck guys!

Well done to my team mates Geoff and Al on a fine points gathering performance for our team. Congrats also to Roberto and Marco plus commiserations to Piero who I assume suffered engine problems or an argument with the scenery.

After stiff resistance from team Hiki Waza in the shape of Clive and then Dave, the task of catching the leaders was challenging. In fact it was hard enough keeping some distance from the fast charging Clive. Fortunately the number of laps favoured me and I hung on to see the chequered  flag in third place.

PS looking forward to the mid season review and the opportunity to comment on this Team?? series.

I like Spa whatever is the car I drive on, I feel comfortable in this track.

Qualify:
I was expecting 3.30.mid in qualify but I've got only a 3.31.02 that is good for me obviously but...not so much like I
thought. Anyway it is Pole.

Race:
I knew to have a pace a couple of seconds slower than in qualify (around 3.32.xx 3.33.low) so I was calm, thinking this should be a good race for me, and in fact, after the green flag, in the first 30 seconds of race, pribluda shown me I already had 300m of advantage on pursuers. Every lap this advantage was increasing by almost 50m but at the 2nd or 3rd lap (I don't remember coz I didn't have the race replay downloaded yet) at Eau Rouge, something strange happened. I don't know what happened but suddenly the car had a bad behaviour making me loose the control and then I went out off track crashing with the back onto the fence. Immediately I managed the car to get on track while Tristan and Axel and 2 or 3 other drivers overtook me, so I restarted from 6th place and I can say that so far it was an honorable but boring race and it has become interesting from this point on. Honestly I was thinking to retirement because for the first 2 laps after my spun off next to Eau Rouge, my car was very difficult to keep on track especially in right turns it seemed to loose easily the back so at least in two circumstances I have risked to make an accident and it was pure fortune if I keept the car on track. I only had to relearn how to drive my car and I've wasted 2 laps in order to accomplish the task. After these 2 laps I begun to push and push again also because pribluda shown me Tristan was almost 1km ahead and increasing the gap between me and him. It was fun to have a battle (extremely correct I can say) with the crowd folloving Tristan so I had to almost keep the throttle flat to have a canche to overtake those guys one by one and I've got the 2nd place only because Axel is a team mate and didn't oppose resistance letting me to pass. Though since this point on, it was a chrono race to pursue Tristan that was slowly but constantly getting closer and closer and closer untill at 4 laps to the finish line I have caught him just at the entry point of the turn that was almost fatal to Mike Parkes (Blanchimont)...and...it was amlost fatal also to me because me and Tristan were side by side with me in internal line. Avoiding to spun him off track with a touch, I pressed the brake pedal too much sliding out external on the banked and so letting Tristan to overtake me again gaining 300m. Fortunately I keept the car in controll also over the banked loosing no more than those meters. Anyway I needed almost 4 laps to catch Tristan again and this time during the last lap. Tristan knew I should have used his tow to catch him so I've seen from far away he was wowing all the way to keep me out of his tow but...I had almost 15km/h top speed more than him and I have caught and overtook him just before Masta in the descent to Stavelot. This time was Tristan to stay in my tow so I've dragged him untill the last turns preceding the finish line. During the straight next to Le Carriere, Tristan made his last move trying to overtake me exiting from my tow. I've seen him exiting from my rear view mirror to the right side so I left him the space of his car on my right side to avoid any contact in the kink preceding Blanchimont but maybe he was scared that I could close the door pointing to the apex (but I didn't that because I knew I could cause an accident) and he probably has rotated his drive wheel closing a little more to me but doing so he has touched the grass with his back right wheel and this made his car pointing the front due to me and at last hitting me and making both spun out off track and obviously during this event...I've lost a wheel (I don't know why every time I have a contact with Tristan I loose a wheel  Tongue  Smiley ). After I've seen Tristan rollign upsidedown 2 or 3 times and landig, at last (like if nothing was happened) he engaged the 1st gear and said me bye bye while I was trying to come down from the preceding mentioned banked (just the same of my preceding accident) and imediately I was aware I was without a wheel, so I've engaged the 1st gear too hoping to be able to pass the S/F line and...fortunately it was so. I would wait to see the official Replay before to take any action against Tristan if will be the case not because I've something bad against him obviously but because the points Team Shadows could get are necessary to us for campionship economy.

A special thanks from Team Shadows to Martin GT Hunt that gave us a hand replacing our Jason Blito and having a good race result.

[Edit]
Replay seen and Claim just sent to Geoff also if not in the usual way because the report sender is already closed and it should be not yet.
