Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 0h01m19s

Hendy stays to the right approaching Tosa. Norm is on his inside and Hendy tries to outbrake him. He gets a nose ahead and turns in to Tosa but takes too tight a line and T-bones the unfortunate Norm. This is a classic case of not being able to win on Lap 1 but definitely being able to lose. Hendy should have been more careful and hitting the grass didn't help him - he may have thought he was past Norm but a more cautious approach (and a wider line) would have been better for both drivers. There is no obvious loss of control to allow me to ameliorate the penalty. Hendy also loses an extra place for a Red Zone incident.

Drivers are reminded that the point of the Red Zone is that tyres are cold and the field is packed. Caution is a must!

Apart from that, nothing else in the Red Zone.

The opening race of the Intermediates second season takes us to the heart of Italy and one of the iconic circuits. Some sweeping bends that will challenge the driver's ability to carry speed and some tighter corners that will require accurate braking to maximise the opportunities. The track was of minor importance until the 1970's and has seen some sad occurrences but hopefully we will enjoy our trip to the beating heart of Italian racing. Ferrari, Lamborghini, Maserati... With the beautiful Appenines as a backdrop, who could want anything more?

Anyway on to the racing and the Intermediates will have to negotiate 26 laps. For this race, there is no handicapping in line with the new handicap system.

Please check the Season 23 pages for details regarding rules and the Intermediates Trophy pages in particular.

Qualifying may start before 9pm, if so, Reserve drivers should leave the server when 35 minutes of qualifying remains and only rejoin when 30 minutes of qualifying is left. This is to ensure that Full Time drivers get priority in joining.

Please restrict chat to pit messages if necessary, and this includes the end of the race, until all running drivers have completed the necessary laps.

The Intermediate Trophy races are run under Int Long rules and all incidents in the Lap 1 red zone will be moderated and reported incidents for the rest of the race, however the moderators reserve the right to review any incident. Drivers are reminded that they are limited to ONE Shift-R. The Red Zone will extend to the end of Acqua Minerale.

Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.

Good Qually into 3rd. Up to 2nd after turn 1. Bang it all went at turn 2. So shift R & S&G but a bit of an off damaged the car resulting in a couple of spins Still it left my team mate clutch 2nd when I left. Well done to those who survive to the podium.
Welcome to inters - it can only get better. Angry Sad Shocked

Polite as ever NHance. When will you get a decent bit of luck. I've watched the replay, but its up to the Mods so i won't comment. Gutted for you, as ever, you had podium pace.

Anyway, that left me in second going up the hill. I knew i didn't have the pace to beat Ronnie, so i decided to just do 1:41's lap after lap and see if he could handle the pressure. I think in the end i was doing 1:40's for a few laps but couldn't get the gap down below 1 second. It remained at about 2 seconds for the entire race and Ronnie deserved to win. I got a 'lucky' second and just kept out of trouble.

I'm calling Ronnie 'The Sponge' as he soaks up the pressure.

Rouen next.  Wink

Great stuff all.  Again, being newish to organised on-line GPL, I was happy to start at the back and let things unfold.

Ended up having a great 3 way scrap for position 7,8 & 9, and not too far off the pace (had a best lap in the 1m41's which I was happy with).

In the end, it looked like I was on for P8, but on the penultimate lap, I blew my engine on the run down to Rivazza, though luckily, I seemed to have a bit of drive left.  I kept it off-line, and limped slowly to the line, waiting for Ronnie to bring out the Chequered Flag, so I'd not have to complete another lap. Shame to not finish on the lead lap, which I'd have comfortably done, but at least I got to the flag  Smiley.

Well done all, especially Fester (Holden) & Jonny for the close racing. The 26laps (25 for me :-) ) flew by.

Gz Podium & all finishers.

The race was really fun, really!!! punk
I spent the whole race a dispute with Fester and Hawkey,
in no time we were alone
twice Hawkey made things easy for me ... hehehe
Fester and made a small mistake at the end
when he was still in front of this dispute
well ... when I realized the race came to an end
 congratulations to the podium clap
 especially Ronnie Perterson

Trust me Clutch, I felt the pressure the whole race long and could have done with a sponge down at half distance. I pushed as hard as I dared but you would not go away. I was more than happy to see the chequered flag to give my nerves a rest. Grats to yourself and Sky for the podium spots and everyone else. See you at Rouen
