Moderator's Report

Clean Red Zone although Badblood doesn't make it to Moss and Nigel does so by the skin of his teeth...

Server replay time: 0h11m28s

Hristo tried to go around the outside of Phil at turn 2B. Hristo has disappeared from Phil's mirrors much earlier and with such close racing it is extremely hard to tell where H is from Phil POV.

It could be argued that Phil should have known that Hristo was alongside but there is not enough room there to go two abreast and it is not unreasonable for Phil to expect Hristo to back out. Conversely Hristo had 100% overlap and could reasonably contest the corner. Hard racing.

Dave, next time you have someone side by side with you, don't just open the line on corner exit like you're alone on the track!

Surprised myself by getting 5th in Qually as I don't usually run the 66 but when I saw it was Mosport I couldn't resist.
Nice clean start from what I could see, although I saw Paul and Nigel retire early on. Chugging along nicely and watching Evil endeavour to pass ahead (and lend me a nice bit of tow) when his victim took a spin - completely solo and nowt to do with Mr Evil from what I could see.

Anyway I managed to avoid impact but my evasive action sent me spinning and I came to a halt watching the whole pack pass and disappear into the distance.
To be honest after that, and with no championship points at stake for me, I really didn't fancy 30 odd laps of playing with myself - a small step up from watching paint dry.
No one's fault at all but, not being a contender this season, I have the luxury of dipping into whatever tickles my fancy clown

Anyway congrats to whoever wins, enjoyed it while it lasted.

Hristo,
Are you sure, it was me ?

Race was fun during the 18 first laps, I think I was 2nd during one lap or two.  Then Phil, Göran, Hristo and Andreas overtook me without any resistance from me because my main objective was to finish the race.

The 18 last laps were boring, I just had to avoid too many mistakes because Bernie was close.

Not to worry , Bernie wasn't "that close" , your rear end was quite safe ( on this occasion )  Grin

Pretty boring race for me too , just hung on for the finish , can't seem to get the hang of these 66 machines , maybe a lack of practise ( same for the other mods come to think of it )  Roll Eyes

Dave, next time you have someone side by side with you, don't just open the line on corner exit like you're alone on the track!
H, I think you must be referring to me not Dave.  I saw you disappear from my mirrors at the exit of the last turn and so I expected you to be along side over the start line.  As we entered turn 1 I gave you plenty of room because I expected you to try the inside line.  You didn't get through and I caught a brief glimpse of you in my mirrors so I knew you were behind again at that stage.  Although I could hear a car I couldn't see you and given that there were 2 other green cars behind me (3 in total) both flashing in and out of view I wasn't sure where you were.  I kept the inside line for turn 2B just in case you were on the outside.  I was trying to hold onto second place and I wasn't going to give it up without a fight so I accelerated hard out of the corner.  I didn't expect you to try and drive around the outside of me, you must have been trying very hard because you had 2 wheels on the grass on the exit (before we made contact).

I'll submit an incident report and let the mods decide if I did anything wrong.  I tried my best to race clean but given I hadn't had a clear view of you since the last turn on the previous lap it was hard to know where you were especially with 2 other cars in my mirrors.  As you know passing on the outside is always risky (warp, inside driver spinning - just what happened to me at Spa) I simply didn't expect you to try such a risky move so early on in the race.

Sorry, Dave, I thought it was you.

Phil, I was in complete control on the outside line at T2 and accelerated better around the corner because it's easier to do so when you take such a line. I left plenty of room for whoever was on the inside (I couldn't see, but I knew there was a car on the inside and I could hear its engine) and even though I stepped on the grass on the exit, it was only right at the exit of the corner, and I didn't go off with 4 wheels or anything like that. I haven't seen the replay, but from what I saw just a moment before impact, your car took the optimal line and went right next to the edge of the track, instead of maintaining the inside line.

I'll have a look at the replay and submit my point of view to the incident report.

Phil, I was in complete control on the outside line at T2 ......
I don't doubt that H, not many drivers could attempt such a pass Smiley.  If I'd known it was you I might have half expected it.  But given I don't use Prib (framerate issues), my Pit Board said Rainier and you were on pole and should have been miles ahead, how could I know?

Anyway, nothing personal I'm sure the mods will be fair.  Regardless of the outcome I still think you would have been better waiting for one more corner before making a move.  I would have taken my normal line and you would of had the opportunity to make an easy pass up the inside into T3.

Good luck in the next race.

Phil, the problem is I was quite slow on the straights, as my gearbox was not really set up very well, so my only chances was to push into the corners. I also thought it was Rainier because of my pitboard (LOL, I guess he was on everyone's pitboard?!), and I felt I was already slightly ahead before the exit of the corner, so there was no reason not to attempt the pass. Anyway, it happens.

Grats to Clive for the win! It seems I've dropped out of contention for the championship now, but I'll try help the team win the constructors title and support Evil in his battle.

.....so there was no reason not to attempt the pass.
You were entitled to attempt the pass and you didn't cause the collision, I did.  I moved over and as such I'm probably guilty of a Simple Side-by-Side (scenario 4 see here) and I'm likely to get a 1 place penalty (I knew that when I reported the incident, I don't only report incidents where I think I am the innocent party).  But that would only drop me back to third; the best I could have hoped for if you'd got past cleanly and chased after Evil.  The mods might even decide there were mitigating factors and conclude it was a contested pass in which case I wouldn't be penalised at all.  It is up to them, I'll accept whatever decision they come to.

Whatever the outcome it doesn't alter the fact that you can't be reinstated and it seems you think you are out of the championship chase which is a pity.  I appreciate in this case being hampered by a slow car means you have to make the most of every chance you get but if you can avoid being taken out and finish the rest of the races I'm sure you could still win this championship (Evil has to drop 2 scores don't forget).

Mod published. Sorry for the delay.

Took me a few seconds to recall what this is about, lol. Not that I want to blame Phil for anything, he actually apologized if I remember and it was quite a heated moment at the time so I understand where he was coming from (which is why I didn't report it), but you can't say there was no room for 2 cars. The track is wide enough for even more than 2, and having seen me disappear into his blind spot earlier, it makes sense that I was still side by side by the corner exit and he should have kept his line. It was an avoidable incident, but I guess we all try to learn from our mistakes.

Not enough room if the inside car takes the racing line...

It was avoidable but also understandable which is why it ended up being Neutral. I don't think Phil needs me to teach him how to drive Wink

That's the point though, the car on the inside should not use the racing line when they have someone on the outside in their blind spot and then use the "not enough room" as an excuse. Just trying to make sure such kind of incidents are moderated better in the future.
