Moderator's Report

The PSC Michigan race should have shown that oval racing can be lots of fun!

Server replay time: 0h09m06s

Fran has the tow of Ronnie and goes to the infield, off the track, to make an overtaking attempt. Ronnie keeps the racing line and can't see him. Fran moves out to overtake but cuts back in too early and hits him.

  • francesco (franGT Molteni)penalty — Blatant Side by Side contact: Penalty 2 Places — 2 places lost (plus 1 for penalty points)

Server replay time: 0h50m37s

Fran just kisses the inside of the banked curve 2 and makes a 360° spin.
Not yet in full control he goes to the middle of the track. Cookie has no chance to avoid a crash...

WELCOME to the UKGPL Season 23 - Porsche Super Cup - Race 7

We celebrate our 3rd season with the attractive PSC Team Championship and I hope we will have fair, clean and close racing.
____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The 7th race of this season will be at Michigan, a short oval circuit with 2 bumps and lots of slipstream Grin

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
We have the Rolling ZONE for the start where a moderate speed of maximum ~ 75 mph (125 kmh) is required and no overtaking is allowed. (Read the registration thread!)

Guidelines for rolling starts...

The car on pole will lead off the grid and maintain a steady pace for the "rolling zone" around 75 mph (125 kmh)
All drivers should form up in single file behind him leaving 3-4 car lengths between each car.
There is NO OVERTAKING on the "rolling zone".
It is the reponsibility of the lead car to ensure that all drivers are with him as he approaches the final "rolling zone" corner.
Racing and overtaking begin AFTER the exit of the last "rolling zone" corner.

Any driver who loses his position in the "rolling zone", by going off or through contact with another car ( regardless of fault) must rejoin at the back of the field.
Incidents on the "rolling zone" will be fully modded and anyone found to have caused another competitor to lose position through bad driving will be penalised appropriately.
Also, please make sure that you know which car you should be following on the "rolling zone", so that you do NOT get out of position.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

There will be full moderation of the Red Zone and reported incidents for the rest of the race.

Please submit incident reports within a week after the race so that the moderators report may be out before the next race.
Full time team drivers have priority access to the server.
Driver lists can be found on the Porsche Super Cup championship standings page.
Please restrict your chat to a minimum!

ok...

The free race starts after the rolling zone! (~3/4 lap)

The red zone is fully modded and is for the first two laps.

I have very rarely raced ovals and maybe I am missing something, but I cannot see the excitement about the thought of 50minutes with my right foot clamped to the floor? I am seriously considering placing a heavy book on the accelerator to save muscle cramps....that is not intended as a joke.  Undecided

I tried this track for the first time last night ( probably only the second time I have ever driven any oval) and in the Porsche this circuit is flat out with no lifting whatsoever. It will be a case of who can run the highest 5th gear and slipstream until the final lap. In fact i wonder if it is possible to programme a small actuator to twitch the steering wheel to the left occasionally

After a just a few laps I was running in the 45secs without any slipstream, so I reckon there could be another second at least to come off that time, possibly more with some tweaks to the gearing and a lighter fuel load.

Maybe I am way off the pace and this track is NOT flat out??? Please tell me.

I think Team Shadows should consider Jason Blito reintegrated as Team's official driver.

Clive, I was puzzled like you, before we did this oval last season with the GTs at the Funliga!

But I learned that oval racing can be a lot of action and fun. That is why I proposed this short oval track for the PSC.
Of course it is immensely boring if you are cruising alone ...
When I planned this season we had some more regular participants in this series...

The more drivers will show tonight, the greater the fun!

I have done lots of ovals ............and without competition its boring, true!

But ............ slipstreaming and overtaking  is very much fun.
Especially when helping each other with a tow and getting the favor back!

Cu on track.

Just a pitty Fran,
you should have done your normal race and nothing would have happened Wink

Who still says: oval racing is boring, should watch the leading duo for 66 laps in the replay!

This was one of the greatest fun I ever had in GPL racing! Perfect race with Raoni!!!

Number of lead changes: 24!

Just the end...

I should have known better than to turn up and bolster the numbers. The no team, free for all demolition derby continues apace and no apology into the bargain. Long live the PSC!

Clive, I could figure out that you were defending your position in the final laps of the race but not the sixteenth lap while we were following the leaders quietly with many laps to go.
I'm sorry but I didn't understand your harakiri move.
Anyway I'm sorry for this undesired contact. We both could end up in a better placement with a little more patience.

I think that if the car breaks down, the pilot must retire and no stay on track how many times someone does.

My apologies Sergio. It was not my intention to block your overtaking move.

I did not watch my mirrors closely enough Undecided I was concentrating so hard to get the tow from the leaders and I did not notice that you had made the move to the inside.
I was trying different lines through that corner as I seemed to be losing 5-10kph at the apex and I was struggling to match the pace of the leaders.
It seems that I have a lot to learn about oval racing. Sad
