Hopefully I have listed here, everything you need to know about performing pit stops in GTL

You need to turn off all AI aids so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file (yourname.plr) found under UserData, should therefore be edited using Notepad or similar, to show the following values.

Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1"
No AI Control="1"

Most pit lanes in GTL have speed restrictions. These start at the pit lane entry lights/white line and end at the pit lane exit lights/white line. You need to assign a button/key to toggle your speed limiter on and off. Search through the Options/Control menu's to find this item.

You can assign a button/key to show a "Slowing to Pit" message to warn following drivers.

Before you pass the pit lane entry lights/white line you should have activated your speed limiter so that you are at reduced speed as you enter the pit lane. Failure to reduce speed to the required level will result in a stop/go penalty.

As you drive down the pit lane look for your crew chief. Head towards him and take notice of any designated areas of tarmac showing where to place your car for your stop. Not all tracks will have these so line up to the side of your crew chief. At the final approach slow right down to a crawl and come to a stop. Your pit board should be displayed on screen. If it does not show up you need to reverse a bit and approach your pit chief again. This is the only way to get your pit board to show.

Your pit board allows you to specify the following areas that require your pit crews attention.

Suspension: If you have taken damage you can get this repaired.
Body: If you have taken damage you can get this repaired.
Tyres: Both front and/or rear tyres can be replaced if worn or punctured.
Fuel: Fill up if required. Note that the fuel shown on your pit board is the amount currently in your car and not the amount that will be added.

To select the items that need attention you have to navigate the pit board to toggle repairs etc on or off. To do this you need to assign buttons/keys in the Control menu's for Up, Down, value increase (repair/replace) and decrease (don't repair/replace). Also Pit board select (confirm).

As soon as you have finished choosing the work required to be completed press the assigned key to confirm your instructions and your pit crew will begin attending to your car. Once all work has been finished the Pit crew chief will wave you off. Be sure to activate your pit lane speed limiter again (it is turned off once you come to a halt) and pull away. Turn off the limiter once you have passed the Pit lane exit lights/white line.

You can assign a button/key to show a "Pit out" message to warn approaching drivers that you will be exiting the pit lane. It is the responsibility of the driver leaving the pit lane to stay out of the way of fast cars and blend on to the track in a safe manner.

Stop/go penalty's follow the same procedure as above but no work can be done on your car. The Pit crew chief will wave you away once you have served your time penalty.

It's always worth practising pit stops off line to find out the best place to position your car etc and to see what the pit lane speed limit is.
