Moderator's Report

Rob is slow off the line but everybody gets away cleanly at the front and they make it to the limits of Brno safely. Not so good at the next village mind.

At the back, Walt is slow off the line and it pays big dividends as Dean accidentally wipes out David and collects BB and Mr Darwin....

There was also a pile up at Troubsco where a red-faced Cookie got a bit eager but nobody reported it...and I didn't get that far in the race.

If you would like it looked at, report it.

Server replay time: 0h00m58s

Dean misjudges his pass on David and carnage ensues...

Dean is guilty of misjusdgement but wasn't reckless. All I can do is ask drivers to be patient and make sure the passes stick.

The penalty system is designed to make drivers try and improve but I see little point penalising Dean heavily. He knows he got this wrong...

Season 27 Historic Trophy - Round 1 - Brno

Welcome to the Season 27 Historics Trophy for 1966 model Chassis.

We start in the small Czech town of Brno for round 6 of the Championship - Beware the stiff drinks!

Brno was originally founded as a race circuit in 1930, the original course running counter-clockwise for some 29.1Km (18 miles) through 9 towns/villages. The inaugaral race was won by Lous Chiron in a Bugatti type 51 in 1931.

The circuit maintained this layout until 1937 when War brought racing to a close. In 1949 Brno re-opened - now running clockwise and at a shorter length of 17.2Km (10.7 Miles) passing through only 6 towns/villages this time. In 1964 the circuit was shortened again to 13.9Km (8.6 Miles) by cutting Zebetin from the route. In 1967 Mike Spence entered a BRM P83 in a race here - No other (then) current F1 teams were known to have raced here. In 1975 the circuit was again shortened down to a mere 10.9Km (6.77 Miles) in order to avoid running through Pisarky, Novy Liskovec, and Bohunice, it also removed a large section of the run through Kohoutovice. This layout remained until 1987 when the road course was finally closed in order to move the racing onto the newly purpose built race circuit situated just off the original course, between Ostrvacice and Zebetin were the races continue to this day.

We are using the long and somewhat tortuous Brno '49 layout. With the Pro settings, the victor might just be the driver who survives furthest.

The full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available.  Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join.  If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

The race will be run under PRO rules so no resets are allowed.

For THIS RACE, 2 liter cars must be selected

For the first three rounds at least, there will be no restrictions.

Quite looking forward to this although for me, making four laps will count as victory. sub 6.30 might be on so I might even not get lapped if I finish... that probably all means an exit on the first corner.

I registered as a reserve last night. I did a few practice laps, and I really like the track. If I am able to race, my goal will be to stay on the track, and hopefully finish on the lead lap.  laugh

I am able to see password; so there shouldn't be any problem with me joining. I just have to wait to see if I have the free time to race today.

IMO we need to make sure we go single file through the first village after the start. If anything we need a disciplined start here. I just wend two wide through it with Axel, but it isn't recommended  Tongue

Had a Brno65 leaguerace last Saturday, and we all went very disciplined single file through it after the start. Let's rather give room after the start than take it, but of course it's up to anybody Wink

One thing's for sure, a wreck there after the start WILL eliminate most of the field following. Now I just have to make sure  don't do it myself, knock on wood!

Of course I would never do this in a pro mode league race Grin

This BRM is a hog, but incredible fast Tongue

That was pro Axel  Grin Like Hammy and Rosberg hehe...no you had a run, should have let you go earlier, before the turn...now I had to lift a lot!

I'm new to 66 mod. Did some laps at Cerne's wood with the 246, so...also had a Brno65 67 race, which helps....just have to put in the older Zebetin section and find out what works for me in 66...

Looking for some fun tonight, and some stiff competition Smiley

Not sure what happened at the start, but fact is the car didn't accelerate, prolly had my left foot slightly on the brakes, but everyone kept a cool head...

Then in Troubsko carnage, no way to avoid and many cars suffered...got damage prolly because later in a fast right hander where I took it easy went straight off and couldn't get back on track whatever I tried...disappointing start of the season...

Think that was M Rainier - it was unfortunate. Collected me but I thought I had just spun. Two hundred yards later engine gave up Sad Shouldn't have practised....

Yes it was me.
I don't know how such an accident is possible in a straight line with no braking zone, no car moving from one side of the track to the other.
I don't like this kind of grid with fast drivers starting from the bottom (why were they not able to do one or two qualifying laps ? at least in this situation, they should be more cautious than ever, especially in a serie with no shif R allowed)

Bad start of the season, as 66 is not my favourite mod, I am not sure to continue this serie. At least my next 66 races will be done without training, the days before  Undecided

I have to say that there is an argument for points being awarded to those who complete a lap or make 25% distance - here that would mean points for the top 6 or 7  laugh!

Spins on Q lap... 2nd lap, just made the tape... then looking at prib and just tagged Paul and span out. No worries, I would only have gained a row on the start grid anyway.

Race... got by Rob's slow starting Ferrari but he breezed back by me out of Village 1, as I couldn't pass Andreas up the hill. Into the first braking zone... around the corner.. and carnage! Gaps close.. sandwiched.. eventually make it out. Following Raoni down to the 49 exclusive village, and I again look at prib, miss the braking point, pile onto a lamp post on the inside (the lag continues through it and bumps off Raoni!); I didn't make it inside far enough, where you can fly and survive. Grats to the points finishers!

I have my own take on what happened here but will let the mods decide the outcome

Dean &  David come together ending both there races , Paul joins the party but gets lucky and is able to drive away,  but not before he spins and decides I only need a three wheeler Brabham in order to level things up a bit
.
Unfortunately for me I find its to dammed hard to drive the BT7 very far with one rear corner missing so decided to retire .

Looking at the results only 2 cars manage the full race distance  Huh

7 cars went out on Lap 1  Shocked  Why so many ?

Perhaps we need some new rules for avoiding these repeated lap 1 fiasco's ?
