Race: 20:30 ~ 30 Mins

Cars allowed: Group 5
Track: Salzburgring

Championship Standings

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the Euro and American Track Packs for this series (And maybe another
non pack track occasionally)
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.

(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.

Had a try out of the very feisty bmw 320 turbo yesterday. Car feels a proper handful (as it should) but I'm still suffering woolly steering input so still not tempted to buy into it yet. But I did read an older post where GT says you can adjust steering in the cars setup? Stupid of RRE to not allow that in the test drive option when it makes potential customers think the inputs duff for a race sim. Has the sim got adjustable tyre temps yet? Bonkers that it's not in it from the start, again leads to a simcade feel about it  Undecided

I can't remember what was there in the demo or not, but I seem to remember I could always set the steering as
I wanted it.  Huh  I am away so can't look at a screen, but in the first car setup screen there are two options
one sets the steering angle I think, the default for most of the cars is around 900 deg, which for me is like driving
an oil tanker, so I set it to 450 ish, changing nothing else gives me a good feel to the car.

It's a bit misleading as it calls the steering settings car setups, but the real car setup are on the next page
still quite limited, I turn on tyre wear for our events, but the reading in the HUD may go down to 96%
but the tyres will be losing grip by then, not like what we are used to in XD. I can turn on fuel usage on the server
but as we don't know what the consumption is I tend to leave it off.

The Gr5 cars are nutters, and I have to set the front mostly full hard, and the rear mostly full soft to get
a car I can do consistent laps in. You can't save different setups yourself yet, it saves the setup for that car at that track
so you get it next time automatically. It seem to remember the steering settings for the car whether I change car setups or not.

Check out my tips thread MJ.

https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=13168.0

Apart from setting steering degrees correctly I found the most benefit from changing the ffb setting from 100% tyre forces to 100% steering rack forces which was one of the magic ingredients in the PnG ffb settings IIRC. Common sense would say it should be the other way around but if you think about it the forces acting on the steering rack are more what we are used to feeling in RL.

See post #66 from Georg Ortner (one of the extremely quick RR beta testers) http://www.racedepartment.com/threads/wheel-ffb-settings-thread.106914/page-4

There are still some important features to come to RR (eg. tyre pressures) but I reckon there are enough experienced simmers "getting" it for anyone to give it a decent try out. Personally speaking the last few races have been the best simracing I've experienced and with continued development I'm confident it will just get better.

Just had a blat against the AI here, starting at the back with them set to 108%. What a blast. The DTM92 AI are *brilliant* at Zolder, and the track suits the cars perfectly.

Best lap currently low 1:38s but that was in traffic.

Great circuit Smiley

Wow ....... the Gr. 5 cars must be the Hendrix cars of this game,  Afro Afro  you know "Wild thing "   Grin

I need to set the rear wing at max and be very alert eek, just to keep these monsters on ( or at least close to ) the tarmac.
I'll do my best to stay out of evetrybodys way.

I don't like this track much, but the cars are fun to drive  Grin

Wild thing was the Trogs?  Roll Eyes
I have to set the front max hard and the rears max soft to be able to do more than one lap
these are nutter cars. I struggled at first but now I love them  Cool

I chose the track for it's long straights, I initially chose Monza, but I can't bear that stupid 1st chicane.
Maybe use Monza in the next series.

LOL  .... I was on the wrong track, was on Sachsenring  Grin

Don't think I've ever tried Salzburgring, but it seems very fine for these cars.
