Championship Standings

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the Euro and American Track Packs for this series (And maybe another
non pack track occasionally)
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.

(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.

This is the 1st race in the new Season 2. Everyone now starts from scratch for points.

Format is likely to be the same as we have been doing.
I might slip in a different car set for one or more events to spice it up a bit.

Note: There will not be an R3E race 29th October as it is one of the Interleague P&G events
I will post that soon, when I work out a decent car/track combo for it  yes

I'll be joining you, assuming there's space at the back of the grid! Grin I'll probably be driving the Audi.

Is there a list anywhere of what the rest of the season will contain? Makes it easier (and cheaper) to get the rest of the tracks in one go if you're new to the sim.

Great to have you with us Tibs. Matt hasn't announced anymore tracks for Season 2 yet, maybe this weekend?  Wink

If you bought Bathurst, Spa, Suzuka and the Euro and American track packs at the same time you will get a good discount and be covered for most eventualities (I hope).

Hi Tibs, and you are very welcome anywhere on the grid.
There will be a list when I finalise it for season 2
But as far as tracks and cars that will be needed you could buy individual tracks and cars if you like
but everything for this series will be in:

Tracks:
Euro track Pack
American Track pack
Spa
Suzuka
Bathurst

Car Packs:
DTM92
Touring Classics
BMW M1 Procar
Group5

I made the mistake of running at a track that wasn't in the Euro Track pack when I thought it was last season
I will try not to do that again  Roll Eyes
I am toying with Macau, but that won't be in the next 8 weeks if it happens at all.

Ooh M1's at Suzuka would be very cool  Cool bought the track  Smiley

Was about to buy the Dtm and Bathurst last night but then realised I'm out next Thursday  Sad any change to that and will try and join in.

Would be pretty cool to run an M1 series like the real deal back in the day

I know how keen you are on historical accuracy MJ, and I would like to do an M1 historically accurate season perhaps if we can.

This time I have gone for a single season with 4 variations rather than my usual 4 series for different car sets
mostly for simplicity and ease of management to be honest.  There are still things about an on line series with this that are not as
"reliable" as we are used to, but it is gradually improving. Would there be enough tracks to fit?

So far my thoughts are Group 5 at Spa, and M1 at Suzuka for two of the events, The Gr5 cars anywhere are a touch of masochism
only place they are really annoying at Spa is the bus stop, where you do actually have to stop to pick up passengers   Grin
We ran a test race with Gr5 at Speilberg, and they were drivable, was a superb race as I remember, partly because, err after
GT dropped, I managed to hold off Fede for a win  Roll Eyes Not gonna happen again I suspect any time soon.

For me the only Gr5 car I can sort of drive is the Vette, and I have to set everything front full hard and everything rear full soft
to stand a chance of finishing a race. At least 50% coast and 10 or 20 % power diff. The DTM92 and Touring Classics are very soft
and furry in comparison, but usually produce some good close racing  thumbup1

Great as using the real M1 series tracks would be, just as happy to use our own set of tracks to make a series for them.  Smiley
Agree totally with your choice of Gr5 at Spa and M1s at Suzuka. Guess the Grp 5 would work well at circuits like Silverstone, Monza and A1-Ring for starters but not used them yet other than a brief test drive of the BMW in it so can't tell what suits them best.
DTM.s you can run almost anywhere, though personally I'd prefer them on authentic German/Austrian circuits for flavour, but that's just me  Wink

Touring classics series looks like it could be fun too.

Tony, give it up...I'm never going back to GTL Grin

Fair point, but then your missing out on some good racing in a fun selection of cars  Smiley plus though I don't agree with this modern way of pricing sims, at least you can cherry pick cars and tracks that you like in RR so you can do some cheap racing. I've only spent about 2 pints worth so far  Grin

More info on the Grp 5 cars, they contested the World Championship for Makes from '75 to 82 and the lot we get in RR are called the 4th generation Grp 5. Known as 'Special production Touring cars'
https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Group_5_(racing)
Tracks used for them listed here:-

Fun for some but they are too modern for my liking.  Really don't want anything with wings on!  There seems to have been a recalibration of what people will consider as "Historic".

Should the PnG on NoGrip falter then I'm probably more interested in GPL's '55mod.  Anyway, too busy with my toy car stuff to devote hours and hours working my way around the problems in an unfinished sim.  The same goes for AC.  I'm just monitoring the situation in case something that I consider useable appears.
