(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules. (3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read Autopit="0" Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable. Special Notes: None

Hope you all enjoy Race 2 of the Trans Am series. This one has special memories for me as I was in attendance for the 1966 and 67 races. I was stationed in the Air Force about 15 miles from the track complex and spent some of my free time there. The manager of the track was a WW2 veteran and if you flashed your military ID card at the gate they just waved you in no charge. If we wanted to drag race on Friday nite we just had to pay a couple of dollars to cover the insurance, same thing on open track days on the road course. To payback for the free races a lot of us "gearheads" used to show up on Monday morning or evening and picked up trash, hosed out the Latrine's and just helped out as needed. I remember 1966 race day was drizzly, grey and wet. A lot of cars didn't have proper wet tires so didn't race and attendance was low because of the weather. In 1967 their were many more cars as Pony cars were very big sellers and as they say win on Sunday, sell on Monday. It was 100F+/38C and my friend and I were "incharge" of the hay bales just to the left of the pit enterance. At least we had a shade tree and a water jug close by. Here are some pics of the 67 race I found on the net.... https://www.flickr.com/photos/thehenryford/albums/72157631175084150/page1See you at the track Bob M.

Great memories Bob and some great old photos too. Surprised to see not a few European cars among the entrants. Were they all running in the same class ? Working my way through the cars at the moment, with best lap so far being 1:08.4. See you on track Monday. P.S: We need a Trophy Queen.. Cheers, Erling

Nice pics Bob. Also some of the 66 race here: http://www.cliffreuter.com/etceteriniPanAm1966transamgreenvalley.htmLike Erling, I'm working through the cars, tried all but the Cougar. In the 1.07s with all those I've tried although the Barracuda is about 0.5s faster than the rest and I've only done 5 laps in it compared to around 25 in each of the others!

managed a low 8 in the Firebird, which I am struggling to reproduce..... My fave car in this group is the Z28, but as I have already used him once I will use something else for this one.

Where the heck do you guys find the time to do 25 laps in half a dozen different cars??!!! I usually struggle to get any laps in before race night and pre qually practice. That usually means I have made a wild guess at which 2 cars might work and make a snap decision ( usually wrong!!) about what I am going to drive.

Yeah but Yeah - you also have the services of Arnold and Mabel to help you unload and change cars! Most of us are on our own, many of the tracks are converted from GPL so you know tracks and the danger areas!

You have noticed my uncanny ability to expose and explore all of the danger areas on any circuit. This super power, does not always work to my advantage..............

Its actually unusual for me to test out all the cars, like you I normally pick 1 or 2 & stick with it/them. For instance I have still only driven the Brabham & Eagle of the 67 F1 cars, not turned a wheel in any of the others. Still not had time to try the Cougar yet & as I'm struggling with a cold/flu I probably won't feel like trying it before the race. Will probably go with the Mustang I think. PS: Just remembered I had a brief go in the Lotus 49!

Oh dear, if you guys are in the 7's or 8's it's going to be a long race for me. I'm still sitting in the 9's & 10's. No car preference at the moment. I suck in all of them equally. About every 3rd lap I line everything up for T1 then watch it go straight past. TTFN John

Managed some 1:07s yesterday, after some more setup tweaks, but mind you, we haven't heard from the aliens yet. I'm sure they'll do 1:05s or even lower.. (I suck at the US heavy metal, so my times are surely mediocre at best) Cheers, Erling
