Cars allowed: Ferrari 250 Testarossa Download this, Jaguar D-Type (1957 only) Download this, Maserati 450S Download this, Aston Martin DBR2 (includes GTC-65 class fix) Download this, Ferrari 375 Download this, Mercedes 300SLR Download this

Drivers are reminded that they are restricted to ONE drive per make. Check your status here

Track: Schottenring 1967 Download this

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: x2

Server: simracing.org.uk Mondays
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: As for Season 15, cuts will be turned off for this race.

One of the tracks where I'm unable to complete one single lap without crashing even in a slower touring car, but a real funny one. Smiley

Forgot to mention: due to national holiday on Monday here and thereby an extended weekend I will only return Monday evening - so no further practicing for me.
But I'll give it a try for sure.

I'm  taking the Jag here. Plenty of corners. Cobbled sections. What can possibly go wrong?

I'll  try to keep out of everyon's way.

Tony, last year we disabled the cut track warnings, as they were quite aggressive, and there's little potential, if any to save time by cutting.  Might be a good idea to do so too this year  Cool

Cheers,
Erling

The practice server was running without the 2x Fuel factor.

This has now been rectified.

taz taz taz taz taz taz taz taz taz

Finally get a car and setup that feels good around this track in the qualifying period, after about an hour of tweaking. Just a chance that I can prevent Erling from having it too easy, and after fluffing the start I have to pass John's D type quickly to get after that Coyote. Make the pass and focus on making that distant DB2 come closer!!
After 1 lap I think I have closed slightly, although Erling might be playing safe he is not far enough ahead to relax and I am gaining confidence in this 300 SLR and the setup.

Then ..................... I lose connection with the server Sad. I can live with making a mistake and stuffing it into the scenery, but it find it very frustrating when technology robs me of some good fun.

The strange thing is that I lost connection yesterday when I tested that I had the right car/track combination, and again in the practice session before the race tonight??! and from memory it was at a similar position on the lap.......Huh
Grats to all those who finish, and of course to the podium

Chose the Merc for this one but it slow and heavy and not suited to this kind of track. Did five error free laps and then pitted perfectly. Then on the next lap I made an error after the S/F line and had a big crash which resulted in my car ending up on the wrong side of the fence on the left hand side of the track. Could not find a way back on track so had to quit out.

Looks like Erling is the champion but the fight for the remaining podium steps looks interesting. Roll on the finale at Spa.

Strange that you found the Merc heavy and slow, Tony, because I found it very fast and very stable once I had sorted the diff etc.

The one big problem that I did have was the gear ratios. I could not find a final drive option that gave me a gear somewhere between 3rd and 4th, which I needed through the 2 long right hand curves early in the lap. I reckon that with a magic wand to give me that extra gear I could gain an easy 4-5 secs a lap
Once I had negotiated the esses ( T1 & T2) in 4th I was flat in 5th down the hill and through those sweeping curves and the car just felt great. It was the same at the end of the lap where there is that series of fast right / left corners which I could attack in 4th before dropping into 5th for that run to the line.
I guess it shows that everyone is different and that is what makes sim racing so addictive  Wink
