Championship standings HERE

RACE TWO

Grid/server capacity: 22

Track: Hockenheim (National)

Cars allowed: Ford Capri RS 2600.

Skin pack Download this. All drivers need to download these skins and add them to your Ford Capri folder.

Practice: ~20:50 (10 mins)
Qualifying: 21:00 (10 mins)
Race 2: 21:10 (12 laps)

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

Of all the cars to choose, I think Tony was looking for a masochists tango, these things are a frustrating drive
massive understeer into corners, and non progressive oversteer out of corners, I did better in the 2nd race
becaaus I just made the thing with loads of rear grip and never mind it's Thames barge turn in.
You are not alone Roger, very tricky cars to keep stable.

Replays and results now posted.

Sorry for the delay. One of the cars refused to be accepted by the result creator.

Please could everyone delete car #9 from their install, thanks.

I'm checking if Steve had the right car for this event

Put this down to an anomaly in the results. I will try to find a fix tonight.

If i hate the Mercedes Arena, i adore drive on the Motodrom, also in past i got good time lap here. With Capri was a trap the first corner, because pinch the kerb and open the throttle too soon it mean get a spin for sure, it s happened to Geoffers  on the race and i m sorry really because it missed our battle, it s a pity !!!

About my qualy lap it was get better, in practice i got 1:39,5 but on qualy i made a little mistake on the first sudkurve, i braked too long and i lost the perfect apex of 2 centimeters so i burned 0,3 seconds, it can happen with cold tires.

About setup it has been the opposite than Nurburgring, i choose a agile setup with hard dampers on  the rear, yes it was a risk but the car was flying on Motodrom corners and it was also funny.

With Geoffers out soon the race has been easy, i was careful to dont make any mistake, also if one time i lost my car on the first kerb i had to hold Capri with a double countersteer, but i never needed to forcing my step.

Thanks to Tony we could drive Capri but the question of toe in is very strange........ Roll Eyes

Not as bad as Nürburgring, but still no walk in the park to tame the Capri here.

3rd on grid again, this time keeping it after the start. Geoffers spun at the beginning of L2, gifting me 2nd.  Fully expected him to come storming back, so drove as fast as I possibly could.  Had Clive shadowing me for a lap or two, until I saw him spin in my mirrors.  Not good at all, as I relied on him to at least delay Geoffers a little. Sad then to see the message that he had left, but understand his frustration.

With Clive's exit, my race became lonely. Ziu was long gone, and the remainder of the pack was too far back to be in view. To my surprise, the gap continued growing (Didn't know at the time how far back Geoffers had fallen).  When the sad message flashed that he had left too, 2nd place was in the bag for me, if I could avoid technical problems and major screwups.  Thankfully it held to the end.

Grats again to Ziu, and to Matt for the final podium.

Thanks to Tony for setting it up, although I must admit to a love/hate relationship with the Capri..  Smiley

Cheers,
Erling

Well, After the lessons learned in race 1 I moved the brake bias back towards it's original starting point which gave me a much better feeling under braking but forgot to adjust the diff accordingly so went from a car which wanted to do a 180 into every turn to one which didn't want to turn at all and was like steering a canal barge.

Lined up on the grid in 7th and due to others misfortune found myself in 3rd at 1 point then a few laps later capitulated to the recovering Geoffers into T1 and followed him closely down to the hairpin. He missed his braking point which sucked me in and I followed him off the track and when hit the armco I ploughed into him, both of us losing several places in the process. This let Bob & Matt through and I now had a very interested Tony and ccstevecc following, Tony quickly disappeared and ccstevecc made up ground at an alarming rate as my understeering bus lumbered around the corners. Eventually I spun coming out of T1 and was down to 6th Then a few laps later he returned the favour spinning out and I was back through to 5th and that's how it stayed until the end of the race, I could see ccstevecc making ground on me again and then quickly dropping back so I think he was pushing very hard to make up for the spin.

Congrats to Ziu, Erling and Matt for the podium and thanks to Tony for a great mini series even if I could not get a grip on them to save my life.

Have just looked at the race results and done a double-take with the Bridgestones! What's more it tells me I was driving number 0, an RS3100. Spotted your comment Tony. If it helps, the only 3100 I have in my garage is the original number 89 car. Also, I don't have a car 0. It certainly drove like a 2600, and if it were a 3100 I would possibly have won the race (barring driver error).

Anyway, food for thought Cheesy

Something about two of the cars mucked up the results software and also prevented me from manually correcting the errors. I know you didn't take the RS3200 Capri cos I checked the replay  Wink
