Moderator's Report

Would have been the last race of the season, apart from the re-runs. Sam started on pole with the Eagle, took fastest lap but finished behind Tommie & Dean. A very rewarding return to UKGPL racing by Tommie.
No reported incidents for this race.

Season 30 Works Trophy – Round 10 –  Silverstone

Not the last race of the season as there are re-runs for Estoril & Dragons Nest. Round 10 will be at Silverstone, home of the British Grand Prix & a regular Papyrus track.

The championship is very tight between by Samb & Doni, with Samb not in the points at Reims. With two postponed races others could yet make a late challenge.

Race List = iGOR
Server = UKGPL_9
IP = see iGOR
Race date = Sunday 06-11-16
Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT)
Track= Papyrus
Race length = 33 1aps (50 minutes)
Variant = 1967
60fps patch used   = 60fpsV2newmod
Damage Model = Pro
Qualifying time = 30 minutes

Replays Available

Driver lists can be found at the
Works Trophy Page

HANDICAPPING
The tokens system remains for all drivers.
In the interest of having a competitive championship the faster drivers are requested to voluntarily select car that suits your ability. If you are consistently qualifying at the front of the grid,  finishing on the podium & recording fastest lap then you should be not be taking a faster car.
The championship will be reviewed after Race 3. Drivers may then be allocated to one of the following handicap groups
Group 1 BRM, Honda, or Cooper,
Group 2 as above + Brabham
Group 3 as above + Ferrari
No handicap will apply for this race.

Until the number of registered drivers exceeds grid capacity drivers may join the server as soon as it appears in IGOR.

Drivers are required to complete 50% distance to score points.

There is no Red Zone for this series, moderating will be on reported incidents only. Please remember that an additional 1 place penalty is awarded for Lap 1 incidents.

Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line.

  Conmo he could run Silverstone?
His name is Rich Ramos (former rider in gplbrasil)

Jonny,
Rich is welcome to drive with us.
He just needs to register. I have checked the page - https://www.simracing.org.uk/smf/index.php?topic=13786.0 - & it looks OK to me.

Remember for new drivers in the second half of the season you only get 5 starting tokens + 10 for entering the race, so no Eagle or Lotus.

...You are not qualified to drive in this race...

That mean you don't have the right flavour of 60fps mod selected. Check it in GEM+.

Bit of a missed opportunity from my perspective. Landed the Pole, made a reasonable start but Jethro managed to get alongside me into Copse. Under braking I was on the limit myself but Jethro outbraked himself slightly. The slight-avoiding action put me onto the grass and the recovery landed me plum last  Roll Eyes. In hindsight, perhaps I should have been a bit more cautious but you never know how these things pan out. At least it set the race up for being an interesting one  Smiley.

Managed to take a few places in a few laps, but my lead foot caught me on the exit of Becketts. The resulting spin landed me in last place again  Grin. This time the recovery was for real!

Really enjoyed battling me way through the field. Everyone raced hard, but fair and we all survived for another day. Particularly enjoyed my battles with Marco, Clive, Rica & Johnny'O. Great job guys!  Smiley

Tried hard to catch Dean, but simply ran out of laps. After recovering from last (twice!), I'm happy enough with 3rd place. Congrats to Tommie & Dean. Awesome drives up front.

Grats on the win, Tommie!  Smiley

Good drive to P2, Dean!

Terrific recovery, Sam!

I was very disappointed to have my engine fail as in chasing Axel, I was short-shifting.  I was having a fine time up til then.

Some highly suspect driving by some who should know better, I'm afraid.  Tsk, tsk...

It would seem that the guidelines for this S30 Works series seem to have been largely ignored.  I would hardly think that Tommie, Dean, Sam, Jethro and Ray are Group 3 or better talents.

Results and replay uploaded. Completely my fault for outbraking into T1 Sam, am sorry it trashed your race. Mine ended up towards the back and attempting to fight through, with a sudden end after beaching it on lap 12. I'd bent the steering bad before that, so a somewhat lacklustre race, despite better pace and longevity.

Silverstone tends to be my exception rather than the rule. This season has largely been a writeoff due to too many crashes on my own too early on.

Woohoo! Very unexpected win after joining last-minute, back home early after a work out. Grats to Dean and Sam for the podium, and all finishers!

I'll write something about the race tomorrow, but would just like to state at this point that I'm not a fan of this handicapping rule at all. This is UKGPL Division 1, and I'm here to win, not to make life easier for other guys to win. I think that is what this Division is for. Perhaps suited for other divisions, but not for this one. The excellent token system allows every one the chance to challenge for a win, provided you have the speed. Now I kinda feel bad for winning, and it shouldn't be this way.

Tommie...  I don't begrudge your victory.  It was earned.  I'm not complaining about car selections by some.  Merely making an observation.

Oh, well...

At the start of the season I played ball and took the BRM in the first few races to save a few tokens to use the faster cars later, like the Eagle last night.  Doni those guidelines were ignored from Race 1, no names mentioned. I remember complaining about it and getting the usual silence from the admin team despite warning them about it even before the first race.  Hence like so many series if not all my S30 here at UKGPL has been painful.

Rules, regulations and handicapping have been a joke this season and I confess I'm not laughing.

Your still in with a shout for the Works title so go for it. Unfortunately the same cannot be said for myself re the F2 title which is safely in Tris's hands after some crazy decisions by others who should definitely have known better. Such is life.

I'll admit to my car choice for this round being selfish. I took the Eagle expecting Rob to race with us last night as to my mind at least me he is the benchmark for this series. I'll also plead guilty to not reading the first post properly. The last few rounds have stated no handicap and I thought the same applied this race given the openess of the championship.

However, I do echo Tommie's thoughts about the Works handicap. This is arguably the pinnacle series in UKGPL and I do enjoy using the tokens system tactically, but I'll make a note and use slower cars for the last two rounds of this season.

This subject I imagine will be something to talk about at the end of season review at least  Smiley.
