Championship standings HERE

Grid/server capacity: 22

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins)
Race: 20:40 (1 rolling, 28 racing laps)

Track: Dubai GP Download this

Cars allowed: Ford Capri Mk3 Turbo Download this

Only the following cars are to be selected. CLASS A DIV 1 '81, CLASS B DIV 2 '81, DIV 2 '80 and DIV 2 '79.

Special Notes: Rolling start procedure will be implemented for this race. See below for details.

1) When qualifying ends drivers will join the grid as usual, before the timer countdown ends.

2) At the green light the pole position driver (lead driver) will be responsible for moving off at a slow pace.

3) The remaining drivers will follow the driver in front of them forming a single line formation.

4) The lead driver will increase speed as soon as it is safe to do so. The following drivers will match the speed of the car in front of them, whilst keeping a safe distance between them.

5) The lead driver will maintain slow/average speed for the duration of the lap until approaching the final corner when he will engage the speed limiter.

6) The lead driver will maintain limiter speed (limiter may be switched off) until the start line is reached. Having crossed the start line the lead car will begin race speed.

7) Following drivers may not exceed limiter speed (lead drivers speed) or attempt any overtaking until the start line is crossed.

Car restrictions: None

Time of Day Setting: 14:00
Start: ROLLING
Tyre wear: x2
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk Monday
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.

Special Notes: None

I thought I would break the silence here by saying I'm lapping in the 09's in a Div2 81 with race fuel.

 Cool

If i was involved in the Div 2 standings my choice was always Capri 80 because the input on the corners it s  better than Capri 81. The truth is that Capri 81 suffer  of a understeer chronic and I cannot bear to drive that way.....in facts i m more fast with Capri 80. Mostly Capri 80 is most easy to setting.  However if Clive is using Capri 80 He will have a valid reason.

2:03.067 can be improved.

Yet again I haven't done a lap yet. Finding it difficult at present to get the enthusiasm to do any practicing, although I am still enjoying the racing, so not expecting too much from tonight's race. surrender

I have to say that this circuit doesn't inspire me to have high hopes for tonight. Think I'll switch classes for this one.

It was a rare occurrence, but I did find time to download the track and try a few laps on Friday. This was a new circuit for me and I found it difficult to get a smooth flow/line, but I discovered that I had mistakenly selected the Group 1 Capri...what a beast!! So I thought I would try and get a handle on these missiles, thinking that I might try one of these in the race...huh, some chance!!!
How you guys keep the turbo working is a mystery to me, I was constantly struggling as the boost dropped on slow corners and the power vanished, then trying to keep the beast under control as the power arrives in a huge lump, once you exit the corner. I just could not get the car turned in at any pace and found the handling a mixture of horrible understeer and yet, more than twitchy. I don't think I had one clear lap and the best I managed was around 2:06??

I might have some time before this evening's race to try and get my head around the Group 1 cars again, but maybe this track is not ideal for these ( but I doubt that I would find any track ideal!).

As I have not fully recovered from my back problem and I am unable to play golf today I will be free to race this evening. I will be under practiced but will try my best. If my leg plays up I will retire to the pits. I hope to see all online later.  Smiley

I know what you mean Clive. Sometimes I was exiting tighter turns in 2nd gear as this avoids the sudden rush of power when 1st gear is used. It does not seem quite so extreme in the Class B cars.

Due to severe back pain - again  Sad Tongue - I fear I have to give this one a miss.  Had no possibility to do any practice over the weekend due to that fact.
Hot-water bottle and other medication will be the priority of today's leisure. Third nuclear spin within a year scheduled for next week  Embarrassed Tongue

Hoping for next week.

Have fun guys.

Sorry to hear that. I think that backs, knees, hips etc. were poorly designed. I have physio and do Dailey exercises yet still seem to spend half the year crocked. Backs can be a painful curse. Hope you are fit again soon.
