Qual: 20:30 (15 mins)
Race: 20:45 ~ 30 Mins

Cars allowed: DTM 2016
Track: Nurburgring GP
Time of Day Setting: Afternoon

Start: Standing
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal
Pit-stops: None required

Server: Simracing.org.uk

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see
cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules especially the
rules about in-game chat messages.
(3) You will need to install Race Room Racing Experience from Steam, and have the Euro and American Track Packs for this series (And maybe another
non pack track occasionally)
(4) Please exercise caution when pitting as some tracks have a speed limit.

(5) Please follow the SROUK guidelines for using kerbs etc. Please keep 2 wheels on the track surface (kerbs do not count as track surface)
Excessive cutting of corners will seen as cheating and the results may be altered to reflect this.

God, that was fun! Grin I really only had pace for third or fourth but keeping it pointed in the right direction throughout worked out the be a winning strategy.  Wink

Luckily, the clock ran out just as spanner got back on my tail because he'd kept the pressure on throughout the race (even while 8+ seconds back after spinning) and surely had the pace to breeze past me had there been another lap or two.

Well done Dana, and I think a warm welcome is in order thumbup2!  I got off to a good start, and what seemed like a good race ahead of me, with a bit of a safe gap my over stressed mind began to wander and I started to screw up a few corners and eventually spun twice in Dunlop corner.  Was able to pull it back together and DRS Eck for 3rd.  Still fun though and I didn't think I was going to be able to join today but glad I did.  It seemed like a healthy turnout and tire wear for me just dipped into the yellow with 5 mins left, maybe the time chop from 40 to 30 min helped, how did others fare?

Well I struggle on pace and consistency in these things to start with and then destroy my tyres in the process. Front left was yellow at about 11 minutes, both fronts were flashing red at the end. Was expecting the front left to blow again as there was no solid bit inside the outline any more.

Tyres were fine here until I dropped out with a few minutes to go. I struggle with these cars more than most and just can't get out of the corners with any confidence. After the 3rd time I planted in in the wall I'd had enough. Looked like some good racing again.....well done to Dana and all who managed to get round.

Front left was flashing orange at the end, and the front right was solid orange.
Of all race cars we use these really could do with Traction Control  Shocked
Usually it's the rears that go, and I then nose dive  into walls until I get fed up with it

This time it was the fronts that went, a light foot out of corners, and softer rear end
meant I was a bit slow, but had a real chance of finishing. I was watching Tudor spinnin
out, and felt the pain. We got side by side at one point, and he spun, I don't think
there was contact at that point, so I kept going. Had what is becoming "usual" fun
chasing or being chased by Stephen  Grin  and he also spun out of a corner letting
me scoop up the next to last place.

Good to see 3 Americans in the race  thumbup1 I told Carl he could not be the only
person in the States who liked this stuff  angel

Good finish for Dana  Cool good to see you with us again  thumbup2

I do get the frustration in these cars setup, I tried allsorts of different approaches in the 30min practise. Started off using my Moscow setup but round here the fronts are more critical for turn-in and felt it was too stiff, plus couldn't lean on the fronts. Tried softening the car up, dropped the springs, dropped the dampers but then found the I was losing the rear all the time! So a slightly stiff car helps in the faster corners and prevents too much roll in the slower change of directions.

But for me and my aggressive approach I do notice the tyres have gone sometimes after one lap!

Nice to see new faces, thought it might mean Carls race wasn't so lonely but after a crap start worry about jumping the start, then got in to 2nd too early, but I seem to end up behind Dana. Got a bit too close at times, sorry, as my braking points didn't always coincide! But then there isn't anywhere to really make a proper move. Ended up losing it and dropped back and just tried to focus on driving my own laps and got back behind Dana right before the end!

Mistake from Carl , blimey he is fallible!

Tyres were yellow at the end for me but definitely a noticeable drop off during the race.

I did find the 2014 cars a nicer drive than these tbh, was able to catch the car easier than these when it goes.

Good to be back Smiley

I agree the 2016 DTM cars here are most certainly not plant your foot and let traction control sort it out.  I find myself constantly light footed 20 -40% throttle through several turns and if you ride the kerbs as I did on exit out of Dunlop hairpin no soft setting would help if you apply to much power.  I will happily post my settings if anyone wants to laugh at me, but certainly feels more confident and drivable combined with light throttle on corner exits. It's mostly soft springs soft dampers and tad more neg camber I think, probably what most already try.

I do change my driving style quite a bit to get around in them and when they break free it's mostly unforgiving.  Twitchy bastards are a challenge,  not as enjoyable as the older cars we throw around on thursdays.  But I welcome the variety Smiley
