OK, you've finally dragged me in - just downloaded both CanAms and the GTs.  GTs feel the best of the three mods.  Does anyone have any setups?  I have no idea how to drive these fast.  Roll Eyes

For what it is worth..................and this is only my opinion  Wink

The Porsche is by far the easiest of the GT's to drive and don't be deceived by its apparent lack of top speed, because it corners like it is on rails!! It will only lose out at the major speed circuits, and not by as much as you might think. The default setup is already pretty good, maybe adjust the steering ratio to your liking and the final drive ratio to suit the circuit. In time you can tweak things to suit your preferences.

The 2 Chapperals are similar and the 2F is marginally faster because the wing gives a slight advantage. Probably faster than anything else in a straight line, challenged only by the Mk4 Ford. The gearbox takes some getting used to, but the sheer grunt of that massive engine more than compensates.

The Ferrari is a nice drive and with a few setup tweaks is a very smooth predictable drive and quite fast enough to compete with all of the other cars.

The Mk1 Ford needs some serious persuading to compete, but iy can be made to go surprisingly quickly

The Mirage is basically a lightweight Mk1, but is quicker because it is lighter.

The Mk2 Ford took me a long time to tame but has a good turn of speed, but requires some respect in the cornering dept.

The Mk4 is a real beast and it took me time to adjust to the handling that is closer to that of a supertanker, and with a monstrous engine that just keeps on delivering more and more speed. Try it down the Mulsanne Straight along with the 2 Chapps. and try not to dribble.

I'm sure that others will have their own opinions about the cars and can probably offer some setups.

Thank you, Clive.  I've already tried the utter madness that is Targa Florio!  Tongue

Yes Ronnie, that's a good beginning  Grin

For the Porsche you should try the Targa WR setup of Phil Woodward-> get it at the rank -> GT world records!

This is a default setup to begin at every track!

Hopefully there will also be some representatives from ams/privs...
[c'mon chaps!]

I've previously found that the 910 is the only car that stays on the track for some reason?!

Is there something wrong with the server?  I tried a few times, but couldn't get on.  It just takes me to a splash screen and does nothing.  Huh

Damn - can't get onto any servers for any mods, since installing GTs and CANAMs.  Any ideas?

In windows explorer, right click GPL folder. Make sure the the folder isn't marked "read-only". Under the advanced tab, win 7, make sure file indexing is allowed for the GPL folder. Use the same settings for the GPLSecrets folder too.

Also, make sure you're using the 60fpsv1 patch and not 60fpsv2newmod.

thanks Greg - I think it's my anti-virus, detecting that GPL has changed.   Roll Eyes  I think I've fixed it now.

Boring boring boring  Embarrassed . Boring car, boring track, boring opponents ramming each other and me off the track...

I feel like a caged animal in the Porsche. Add to that that this track is so wide with long corners, I'm just waiting to get on the throttle. Plus the frame rate problems with the Porsche are driving me mad, especially as this track is hard on fps. There is also no real way to cleanly get past someone, it has to be a banzai move in good faith.

I don't think I've ever parked it before, but after numerous failed attempts to go faster than the car or track would allow, I decided to call it a day.

GPL is about high power, low grip and crazy tracks. Tonight's event was all GPL was never meant to be. I felt like I was stuck on a huge slotcar track.

I'm glad I joined GPLRacer @ Solitude in the snow, now THAT's a real track  Smiley Smiley

Not boring at all here, don't take a fun race too serious...  Wink

After being turned around in the first corner I was dead last, so I had to fight back some places til the end.
Sorry Bastian for the hard pass, but I thought you had me in your mirrors...

I was inspired by Dave C, and I enjoyed the competition near the back of the field. I was in a three car battle at least twice. In the first battle I was the slow car in front. After some close calls under braking, I realized that I could brake a little later. My extra fuel was not helping. The second battle was much more fun because I was able to close the gap to the car in front. My tire pressure seemed good near the end of the race. That really made the whole race worthwhile for me.

Thanks all,
Walter
