Season 31 Works Trophy – Round 5 – SilverstoneTo commemorate the 50th anniversary of the 1967 season, the UKGPL season will take place on 10 of the 11 original circuits. For the fifth round of the season we continue the European leg at Silverstone in the UK. Silverstone is built on the site of a World War II bomber base, RAF Silverstone, which opened in 1943. The track hosted the first F1 championship race in 1950. The British Grand Prix has been permanently held here since 1987. The airfield's three runways, in classic WWII triangle format, lie within the outline of the present track. The first two races were held on the runways themselves, with the 1949 International Trophy switching to the perimeter track. This arrangement was used for the 1950 and 1951 Grands Prix. In 1952 the start line was moved from the Farm Straight to the present Finish Straight, and this layout remained largely unaltered for the following 35 years. Since 1975 the track has been modified with the introduction of chicanes etc – we will be using the 1960’s layout. Race List = iGOR Server = UKGPL_9 IP = see iGOR Race date = Sunday 09-04-2017 Time = 21:00 UK time (21:00 GMT+1) Track= Silverstone Race length = 33 laps (50 minutes) Variant = 1967 60fps patch used = 60fpsV2newmod Damage Model = Pro Qualifying time = 30-45 minutes Replays Available hereDriver lists can be found on the championship standings pageThe full time drivers can start to practice as soon as the server is available. Reserve drivers can also join as soon as the server becomes available but must leave the server with 35 minutes of qualifying left, for a total of 5 minutes; this will allow any remaining full timers to join. If there is enough space on the grid, the reserve drivers will be able to rejoin when there are 30 mins of qualifying left. This Season we don't have a Red Zone. Moderating will be on reported incidents only. If you haven't received a PM about an incident before the link below the results table is removed, you can be sure that you will not appear in the moderator's report. The chassis token system is explained on the Works standings page. Please ensure you choose a chassis that is within your budget, which can be seen by hovering the mouse over your points total in the standings. Please restrict chat to pit messages including at the end of the race until ALL drivers still racing have crossed the line. Password: see above

Happy to finish the race but a bit mixed feelings. Got another blanked screens event after 10 laps, forgot to click the mouse each lap...still no permanent fix for it... Wasn't my best drive anyway, had trouble hitting the lines and forgot my braking point at Stowe before adjusting again late race...felt like I held up Sam a bit early race, not helped by my little mistakes. But he inherited 3rd when my monitors went into sleep and after that made too many mistakes. Late race came closer to Sam again, but ran out of laps to threaten him... Grats Pelle, well done Tris and Sam!

Interesting that others had issues, because my sound would drop out every few laps. I also needed to tap the mouse to bring it back??? There have been strange happenings since last week, when I could not join one race and if I ran GPL I had a "spike" through the wheel every 20 secs and a flicker on the graphics, almost as if I was running at 36fps on a 60fps server?
I am sure that a programme is starting in the background, but I can find no hard evidence of what it might be. The chief suspect is AVG antivirus (which updated recently), as I have had graphics drop out in GTL as well. For last night's race I turned off the AV and things were better. I wonder if the new AVG is constantly checking the internet for "live" updates as a background function? Maybe anyone with any ideas could post here?
As for the race.... Grats to Pelle, Tris and Sam for some very quick times. I was still struggling with the BRM ( my challenge for this season ) and was happy to start at the back of the grid ( especially as I was expecting problems with GPL after last week's problems). I was feeling quite pleased after the first lap where I picked up about 4 places as cars ran wide and tangled, but it could not last as my beast was determined to throw me at the scenery if I gave it even the slightest chance....which I did, dropping to last place at Abbey. The rest of the race was an exercise in survival, initially aiming to reach 50% and hoping to see the flag. Abbey finally got me when I put a wheel on the grass and I was a passenger until I hit the only building within 50 miles!!! 3 wheels were never going to work, so I walked back to the pits.

Congrats to Pelle & Tris for their terrific pace. My race was pretty straight forward. Battled with Rob for the first 10 laps or so and with the tow I was able to keep up, but Rob was getting such good exit speeds it wasn't looking like I'd be able to make a pass anywhere around the circuit. I did wonder why you pulled off Rob after Club corner, sorry to hear it's your monitor playing silly beggars again. It's not fun when GPL is let down with hardware issues. Maybe you could install one of those novelty drinking birds to click the mouse button for you every lap. Worked for the Simpsons . After that it was an attempt to lap consistently, and not throw it away. Did have a couple of scary moments with locking the rear wheels and running wide but just about got away with them. Just about held on to 3rd, not sure how long I would have lasted with Rob catching me at an increasing pace. Congrats to all finishers.

I also had audio, and grafic (spike) problems like you. I checked my PC and everything work well. then, maybe it s a server problem.

Not much to say about my race. Spun at Club corner & rolled off the banking. Another race to forget.
Grats finishers, thanks to admins/host.

Apart from the server shut down in qually, I didn't see any adverse behaviour from the server.
My challenge this season is to improve some of my monster rank times, and for that reason the Eagle was the obvious choice at Silverstone. I've rarely had much luck in the Eagle in races, as I find it less reliable than a Lotus (!), and today was no exception. Despite having no issues in practice or qually the engine went on Lap 3 and that was me.

Silver Result YEAH, finally a perfect race, but I was rusty here at Silver & did not set the fastest times...but flawlessly & without an engine exploded Grats Tris & Sam @RF, had hoped you were in a little faster car I destroyed some 1967, won in an Eagle...but 2 & 3 was correct, Brabham & Ferrari Qual: Short but lucky & it was close. No problem with the server, this made it really exciting Race: Slow start & lost to Tris before T1. 10 laps in close fight & waiting for a mistake from Tris (would not really close so the same thing happened as in Monaco) & it came. Sry I could not wave to everyone who gave space, my button on the steering wheel didn't work...well it was not a race with 'Fuel Patch'. Grats to you all. Yes, it's weird with GPL, perhaps from a month ago, I get small clips sometimes no matter 36 or 60fps Thx for a fun day here at UKGPL

I don't think the server is at fault for anything other than the random disco during practice. I haven't had any problems with GPL since coming back in December and upgrading the GFX card (Nvidea now from AMD - only issue is I now have to run OpenGL. Which isn't much of an issue as it's better than D-X!) AVG is a definite contender for the problem if everyone with problems is running it - I tried it years ago and vowed never to run it on a gaming PC again as a result. The performance impact was just to high. I've been using Avast in gaming mode for the racing PC's for years. Even double checking using Malwarebytes and MSE from time to time has shown nothing that's got through. My race was mediocre, Didn't expect to set the world on fire as I was taking the Wazamobile for this round but I was a full second off my times as set back in 2009/2010 when I last drove it. Tempted to have a go offline on the old setups to see if I brought this upon myself! On the plus side I didn't get involved in any incidents, and didn't fall off on my own - so I finished as high as I was ever going to

You're one of those supersolid and reliable drivers (and a multiple champ). Also thanks for stepping up as a moderator. Well done mate, you deserved that podium spot! @RF, had hoped you were in a little faster car Grats Pelle, good win. Last time in a BT24 I blew away the field still, in an other league, and also here at Kyalami. Wasn't completely happy with the balance and my driving as well yesterday. Also with the hardware prob. First 10 laps were fun tho, and last laps as well when I found a better rhythm on lower fuel chasing Sam. I don't regret taking the Cooper, it's a fun car mixing it up with faster cars.
