SEASON 31 Professionals Trophy (65) : Round 8  SEBRING

The first 12 Hours of Sebring was held on March 15, 1952, and the event would grow to become a major international race. In 1959, the racetrack hosted the first Formula One Grand Prix in the United States. Due to the poor attendance and high costs, the next United States Grand Prix was held at Riverside.

For much of Sebring's history, the track followed a 5.2 miles (8.4 km) layout. In 1967, the Webster Turn between the hairpin and the top of the track was removed and replaced with the faster Green Park Chicane, which was closer to the hairpin and allowed a flat-out run through a very fast corner to the top of the track and the runway; this made the circuit 50 yards longer. The circuit was also widened. Many of these changes were prompted by the 1966 12 Hours where 5 people were killed during the race. Another dangerous section was the Warehouse straight; after a crash where a Porsche went into one of the warehouses and into a crowd, the organizers installed a chicane to move the Warehouse straight further away from the warehouses and buildings. We will use the 1967 layout.

Typical for my season, most races bad luck...took it easy in the race (in contrary of quali) and the engine went under braking for the hairpin early race...

Hard luck Robert, but that is life with a Honda  Undecided

Big apologies to Doni for the contact, from where I was everyone ahead slowed suddenly and the only place to go was down the inside.  Put in a report and give the mods something to do  Wink

no worries Andy, I have to accept some of the responsibility too. It was hectic with 3 cars wanting the same piece of concrete at T2 & I went into 3rd accidentally which probably added to the mess.
Shame as I was looking forward to racing here, it's a fun track considering it's an airfield.

Grats all, thanks admins Smiley

Grats to our podium lads!  Well done...

Poo certainly does happen.  Look at poor Robert.  A nice lead and looking good when...

Not to worry, Clive.  The FUBAR up ahead of us just set the stage for something bad to happen.  I was running much better than anticipated considering all of two laps pre-race just set the gears.

Great race here, but no chance vs a supershifting Tris in acceleration...

So I had the way better brakes wich did not help when Tris surprisingly downshifted and braked for T1 in lap 13,  Shocked
sorry but all avoiding action did not help Roll Eyes
I waited...

Grats to Tris, Axel and Andy! Smiley Expected a big fun fight with Tris and Axel also since the car didn't feel like in quali, probably the fuel load...

I know the Honda is sensitive, that's why you need to run it below 110C/230F (every engine has it's threshold, temps mostly related to rpm's)...I ran it below 105C/220F in race...the Honda has massive torque between 10,000-12,000rpms so no need to run more rpm's...in general I'm very lucky mechanically, it's just this season I had a disco leading by 20s, a screenfreeze at the start of a race and suffered from lap 1 incident last time out...

But I'm aware I'm not the only one suffering from bad luck, don't get me wrong... Wink

It's funny, in some leagues or divisions everything goes right being lucky, and in some you get often bad luck....just racing Tongue

My polelap was very good without any tow. Smiley
