Season 31 Historic Trophy – Round 8 - Monsanto Park
The eighth race in the Historic series finds us in Portugal. The street circuit of Monsanto Park to be precise. Built on parkland, the circuit was considered difficult to drive because it crossed so many different types of surfaces, including tramlines at one point. The track hosted numerous races from 1954 to 1959, but only one race qualified as a Formula One event: the 1959 Portuguese Grand Prix, won by Stirling Moss. He won the race in the twilight hours, since the race was purposefully started late in the day to avoid the intense late summer sun.
This race is for cars with 3 Litre engines.

My only ambition was to finish the race but this time, due to my stupid PC,was not possible.Often the sound program(realtech) launches a warning and the sound stop to work.To restore the sound i must push the left mouse key and doing this i have lost concentration finishing embedded into the hay.

I really struggled this race for consistency. As soon as I tried to push, usually my car would find the hay bales, snake up the grass banking or simply swap ends. My setup may have been too aggressive (other likely explanation is limited amount of talent ), but Monsanto park sure is a challenging track and it definitely got the better of me this round. Despite my mediocre efforts the high attrition rate promoted me to an undeserved 4th. Congrats to Tris, Doni & Dave for their podium places

Grats to Tris Doni and David for surviving and scoring in this race.
A little disappointed not to get farther myself, or even finish in the champagne class, but it was not to be. The Honda felt reasonably stable, provided I treated the circuit with respect. But I knew that I had to be careful on cold tyres and full tanks, so I was trying to be careful on the first few laps. Tris and Johnny set a fast pace on the first laps and I simply tried to keep them in sight. As the tyres warmed up and I had a little more grip ( and confidence ) I began to match their pace.
Then Johnny ran wide and clipped the haybales at the hairpin, slowing him and bouncing him back into my path. I thought I had just tightened my line enough to miss his car, but I got clipped and was spun into the bales too. I found myself bounced back across the track with only three wheels as the chasing pack arrived. I might have considered a SnG, but had no choice but to hit escape as I was parked in the middle of the track and likely to collect a crashfest if I stayed where I was. I hope that I was quick enough and no-one else suffered, although I notice that there were several discos at the same time???

I might have considered a SnG,
It was with damage model = PRO. From my side, I really like this track and was happy to finish 3rd. I couldn't resist to Dean and Doni, but I was more happy against Sam. He was quicker but made several mistakes (I hope I didn't help him to make these errors !)

I was happy to cleanly survive the difficult bit - lap1. With a bit of a comfort zone I saw a yellow flag and Jonny in the bales ahead. Just out of sight around the corner, Clive had attempted his spin turn out of the hay, but not before Andreas came upon the Honda with no place to go. He was lucky to be able to continue, but their collision had knocked a wheel off Clive's car. I turned the corner to be confronted by a three wheeled Honda. I had a slow and gentle flip onto my lid as I muttered "No, no, no..." Game over. Grats to Tris, podium and finishers. Commiserations to those who didn't make it.

I always confused third last corner with second last corner, so my race ended early stuck between Hayballls

Yeah, I could continue after that collision, so I earned a comfortable second place. Car felt good so far. But a few laps later I was stupid enough to end my race at exactly the same place. My car was stucked and glued in this *** Haybales. Race over and a good second spot was thrown away...
