Handicapping
We will use the tokens system again this season. The tokens system is actually a chassis levelling system, not a form of handicapping. So to introduce a form of handicapping into the 1955 Grand Prix series, drivers who are classed as "Privateers" will be given additional tokens.  This will take the form of 10 additional tokens at the start of the season.  However a "Privateer" driver who fails to start any of the first 5 races will only be eligible for an additional allocation of 5 tokens (rather than 10).  "Privateer" status will be declared by the divisional moderator at the start of the season.

Drivers are reminded that Lap 1 incidents do carry an extra 1 place penalty.

The races will be run under Pro rules so no shift-Rs are allowed.

Only reported incidents will be moderated.

If you would like to enter this series please submit an entry in the poll.

Thanks for organising this, I will be back from my holiday in Madrid on the 10th of September (if the flights are confirmed, fingers crossed) and will be able to participate in most of these races.

That's good news Enrique.  I was having trouble working up any enthusiasm for this until I remembered that you had signed for the Works Section of SBRC.

Let's see if we can take the team prize and have you as the Champion!

These cars are a challenge in their own right so I don't quite understand why we need a constant stream of new tracks to learn as well!  On that point can we have some official clarity on corner entry and exit for Casablanca?  Is it two wheels on the tarmac, two wheels on the hard shoulder or just use all the desert?   Grin

I've just voted as I'm now free on Sunday evenings. I hope I'm not too late to join the party. I've been desperate to drive the 55s all year.

You are in Pete. That makes 19 full time drivers so anyone else registering now will have to be a reserve (unless we have a large number of late entries in which case we'd go for 2 servers).

This was a serious question.  I try to provide SBRC members with a setup and replay but this one is new to me and I don't know how much leeway is granted when it comes to using the hard shoulder.

TBH I have not even downloaded the Casablanca track and have absolutely no idea of what you speak, but I will take a look later today if my trip to the dentist is not too traumatic. I am not the moderator for this series but your question has piqued my interest.
Although given that we are discussing the 55 cars, any suggestion that drivers can repeatedly pick an accurate line through any corner ................??

An explanation of the raft of new tracks could be one of two things.

1) the new Antifreeze patch has liberated dozens of circuits that were previously unreliable and caused multiple discos, so there is whole new world to be explored
2) Someone knows that Clive Loynes is reluctant to learn new tracks and including them will get under his skin  whistling

It is a good question which deserves a clear answer. I've been caught out with a similar situation at Mexico and I don't want the same thing to happen again so thanks for raising the query.

The definition of corner cutting is when a driver has all 4 wheels outside the track boundary (i.e. off the track surface, see here).
A driver is considered to be re-joining if he has had 3 or 4 wheels outside the track boundary (i.e. off the track surface, see here).

So drivers should keep 2 wheels inside the track boundary at all times. But the track boundary is a bit vague on some tracks and as you have quite rightly pointed out Ain-Diab is an extreme example.

For the purposes of moderating, the track boundary will be the outer edge of the gravel "shoulder". So the desert is outside the track boundary, the gravel is inside the track boundary.

Personally I think the fastest line will be to keep 2 wheels on the tarmac.

Just d/loaded this track and now I understand Clive's question.

Phil's ruling makes absolute sense, but on first impressions, I think putting wheels onto the gravel shoulder will unbalance( grab) the car so much as to be counter productive. Also noted that it is quite a narrow strip of tarmac  scared so not much room for error?
