I had entered before noticing that the series would be run with the Intermediate damage model.

I have now removed my vote.

I expect that it is both Fran.
The moderators will determine who races in which category but the format is usually the same.

The "Intermediate" damage model will be used with unlimited resets and no need to make a "Stop and Go" in the pit lane.

Was this decision to change the rules ever put to a vote , if so when ?

I for one would vote against unlimited s/r on the grounds that it does not encourage good driving etiquette .

as it stands I don't think I will be racing 55 mods this season

I’d say the intermediate damage is due to change of day (the overall series page for season 42 does state Sunday events are pro settings /no reset). Does match previous seasons with Tue permitting reset.

That's right Dave. We've run the 55GP cars on a Sunday for the last 6 seasons. Given that the GPL Brazil drivers can only race on Sundays (mid week races are during the working day) they don't get the opportunity to race any of the other mods. Hence the change to the 69x cars on a Sunday. I consulted with the GPL Brazil moderators before making the change.

I appreciate the 55s have a dedicated following so rather than drop them altogether we moved the 55s to Tuesdays. They are like Marmite, drivers either love them or hate them.

The change to intermediate damage is, as Dave has already stated, simply because we have traditionally run intermediate damage on Tuesdays. However, it is not guaranteed there will be enough drivers on Tuesdays to have 2 grids. A single grid with a wider spread of abilities is more likely to result in incidents, hence a second reason to move to intermediate damage.

Having said all that I'm happy to run a poll to see if the 55GP drivers would prefer to race under PRO rules. It is an easy change for me and I'm happy either way. Notwithstanding which damage model is used, the races will be run on  a Tuesday

Int with resets and no penalties is tentamount to the old days with Monza PU races and the resulting crashfests , not what I want to be part of .

We already have a taste last season when some races  using the re set option made for outright mayhem !

I didn't sign up for mods 55 and 65, I don't like shift-r.
I remain convinced that if we go races on Tuesdays in pro mode, there will be more people regularly, a bit like on Sundays.
on Tuesdays, at gplracer, for example, in mod 65 pro, we run with 18 - 20 pilots regularly. Isn't it bastian?
the belgians of "lbgpl" always race in unlimited shift-r, they are only 6 or 7 regular pilots. isn't it david rainier?

A spot of history for our newer members.  There was a time when only '67 Privateers ran with a reset available.  It encouraged new talent to persevere.  There was talk that this would create irresponsible driving if expanded, but having a stop & go deterrent worked to counteract this, as the points total suffered there from.

Nowerdays, you need a higher skill level even at entry level, than in earlier reset days. smartass  So adding more resets seems the wrong way to go.   And when you remove the stop & go, it encourages a skilled driver to add risk to his behaviour.
