Moderator's Report

With the greater grunt, Assassino's GT gets its nose just in front of Steve Holmes TVR into final turn of final lap. Steve is, obviuosly, not keen to give up the place at that point and gives Assassino little room on the inside. Therefore, when Assassino runs a little wide, slight contact is made which unfortunately sends Steve into the sand.

I'd say that both were a little more agressive than normal but that is completely understandable and forgiveable at this point in a race. So its a racing incident for me.

Racing Incident.

I start 10 days holidays on this day.  Grin  Then I'm back for a few days and off again for another 9 days so I don't think I'll be able to race in this series for perhaps 4 weeks.   Sad

Sorry folks

Does anyone else think the cars look a bit on the small side when viewed in TV mode?  They look like T-cars or those bike engined Legends to me  Huh

Did some laps here last night, mostly to see what these cars are like as I've been lucky enough to drive this track in real life so I know which way the bendy bits go.  Found the Cobra to be a real beast, although the quickest (low 1:45s), then the GT40, Shelby (with ducfreak sound mod which is incredible with the volume right up!) and TVR about the same in the low 1:46s.  Haven't tried the Lotus as I'm a big cubic inches kind of guy   Shocked

I'm guessing those laptimes will put me in my usual mid to rear part of the grid, alongside my non-alien comrades  Grin

Lucky you to have driven Brands, I've done trackdays at many UK tracks but never Brands, always wanted to do the full circuit, but now financial considerations (and my car in storage) mean I won't quite yet  Sad

It's a damn hard track to get right, I'm finding. I've run 10 laps in both TVR and Elan and both done mid to low 1:46s and always felt I wasn't quite getting the lines right.  It's living up to its rep as a tricky track!!   Gotta say I love it even if I can't get it right yet  Grin

Only tried the GT40 so far. Never driven it competitively so fancy giving the racing legend a run around the legendary Brands Hatch.  Cool
1:45.3 is my best so far. Got a 1:44 in me if i could stop cocking up at least one corner each lap  Roll Eyes
If i get time this eve i'll try out the cobra and Shelby but will probably stick to the GT40 for a cool change of car....tho it understeers like a ferry  Tongue

I agree with Mark, the understeer in these cars in offensive, the only saving grace being gobfulls of exit oversteer on demand!

Had some spare time last night so I put in a lengthy test session in which I settled on the TVR as it was the most driveable (which is weird as TVR and driveable are not words that are often found in the same sentence!), putting me consistently in the 1:45's on race fuel.  This might have at least kept me on the lead lap  Wink.  However, SWMBO tells me we have to go out tonight  cursing so this race goes out the window!

I hope you all have fun and be careful at Dingle Dell corner, but not too careful as I want to watch the replay when I get back and expect to be entertained  Cheesy

Will, i would suggest dropping an email to Mr Shelby  Grin...he still writes articles for Octane magazine each month, so drop him a pm and ask for some setup tips Wink

John...tell SWMBO to go out on her own, you've got racing to do  Kiss

Great Race,    Had a great battle with Assissano and Ruskus ... . Thought i might been able to get a win when Ruskus went of Surtees but he was able to drive better on the worn tyres (i think) and caught back up.
What Happened Assisano ? you suddenly just pulled up in front of me.
Grats on the win Jeff and sorry to who ever it was i hit at Paddock ..i went to pass you on the inside but you moved across.
Cheers

what a cracking track that is and what a corking car the GT40 is to throw around it. Really enjoyed sliding around Brands with my speakers cranked up loud for Ducfreaks awesome GT40 engine sounds...i feel like i've driven the real thing and am now slightly deaf Tongue

Had a great close qually battle with a few other GT40 runners and got pipped right at the end for 4th by my team mate Bernie..the bugger Kiss

Race started well, got a clean run through Paddock hill bend and set about trying to chase the top 3 runners, but alas they were too damn fast for me and other than Baracus keeping a watching brief about 4-6 secs behind me, i was fairly lonesome for the entire race.
Eventually even he had an off and i spent the entire race on my own racing no one except the clock, and hoping one of the front 3 would have an off. Jeff did and i chased his smoke for a couple of laps but then he disapeared off into the sunset Roll Eyes
I had a solid mistake free run from start to chequered flag and finished a fine 3rd place, with 4th fastest race lap  Cool
I'll be in the Kentagon having a pint with the pit-girls when my podium laurels are ready  Grin
