Moderator's Report

At end of warmup lap Ossie engages his pit limiter at apex of La Source hairpin even though Jan, and most others immediately in front, had not. Predictably, those in front pull away from Ossie who then disengages his limiter to catch up again. Dan Minton, who is immediately behind Ossie, doesn't put his limiter on until Ossie does for second time but Madd-RIP, who is two cars back, follows Ossie's lead and engages his at hairpin but keeps it on until start of race. Therefore Madd-RIP, and those behind, are left with a substantial gap to make up even before race has started.

I believe that Ossie makes two mistakes here. Firstly he puts his limiter on too early. The rules state that they should be engaged around 20 seconds before start but he first puts them on, at hairpin, quite a way before then and before those in front do. Secondly, he then disengages it to catch up with those in front when the rules state that this should only be done when the driver in front has disengaged theirs. Luckily, this didn't have dangerous repercussions futher down the field becuase Madd reacted sensibly and kept his limiter engaged. Or else the confusing turning on/off of limiter, and sudden accelerating/decelerating, just before the start could have proved dangerous for those behind him.

Spanner runs off track, and into the sand, at Pouhon. He then appears to take all the necessary caution for a rejoin until he gets to the grass on the edge of track, where he accelerates too early and spins into middle of track where he is stationary for just a moment. Unfortunately Purdie comes around the corner immediately after, can not avoid Spanner and there is a big impact which drops Purdie from 1st to 9th.

I will be here for this one. Stupidly I had thought it was upper sprint for some reason tonight. I don't even have a set up of any note yet.   Also is it fair to allow the old lap records to stand? It's just that this track is different and times are not achievable.

I made this point before and I 100% agree with you, the reason given before was an admin difficulty one as to why they dont have different records for the '03, '04, ukgtr '03 and ukgtr '04 track versions.

I should be there tonight, though I'm not expecting much from the TVR round this place.

really fun racing but obviously pretty $%^ censored&*()£ annoyed  Angry

happy with quali and getting 3rd! mixing it with the big names! and Roadrunner put in a great last minute lap!  Wink

Race started well...with some great racing with teamie Baracus! I just got past to 2nd and caught Roadrunner, he soon made a mistake and i slipped past into 1st  Grin to run wide 4 corners later and handing back the position  Sad loollll it was fun!!!! Then lap after lap i kept trying to keep up with RR wihile Baracus sat on my tail.......was very intense!!!! Smiley

With a slight mistake by RR me and Baracus slipped past and I think I led for about 2 laps before meeting an unnamed driver sitting on the second apex of Pouhon (why not press esc?Huh?? in such a dangerous position  Shocked and a broken car???  Undecided) so thats ruined my chance completely of a podium with T-boning him.....i think i cried a little.... :'(....lol in frustration.....

...anyhooo limped back to the pits keeping out of people's way and took 3mins to repair, got going again in 22nd coming out 3 odd secs in front of Ruskus who was 8th leading GTC....and then got disco'd anyway!!!  cursing

hope it didn't disco in your way Ruskus.....i'm planning on sueing BT for costing me two possible podiums two nights running!!!! looolll

Certainly an eventful race!

I had no practice and only set the car up in about 30mins for both set ups. It did not feel too bad in the short time I had and I was confident my car would come good as the race progressed.

After Eau Rouge of the first lap I could only watch the cars ahead sail away. Right from the off Mark Jonzo was hot on my heels. Made slight in roads into the gap between me and Adam Parle but was more concerned with Mark right on my bum leaving me no time to breathe.

Truetom joined the battle and it bought me time as Mark was worried about TT behind him and this allowed me to pull away until for no reason I stupidly ran wide allowing the gap to close back to nothing.

I was looking in my mirrors and now Truetom was behind. I thought I had good enough gap before Eau rouge and thought I did a good job of the corner. Next thing I looked in mirrors and TT was catching going far faster than me and left me for dead making the pass before the next corner.

Mark was back on my tail and my car was feeling more sluggish as the race went. My tyres were already shot and I was getting big understeer. The car just felt too heavy and lost all of it's agility.

After a wee incident at the bus stop I found myself with space again, only to shoot myself in the foot yet again and make another mistake only to watch Paul Richards sail past this time.

Colin Hines was soon hounding me and did so for a few laps. I managed to get away and make it to the end in 6th.

I really struggled tonight. Although I never had enough time for a good set up the car felt really blunted with the 30KG added. The car just would not turn in and felt horrible. After about 15 minutes every trip through Eau Rouge was scary. Understeer then oversteer. Not very nice at 140MPH.

I really don't think I could have fought more time out the car tonight, just try and cut out some of the stupid mistakes I was making.

Well done to class winners Ruskus and Baracus.

Well done everyone else I raced, some nice bits of action there

Well it took a good chunk of qualifying but I finally strung together a decent lap - although it was slower than I hit in praccy.  Well happy to start in 4th.

The pace lap was a little slow  Wink, but pretty good for a first attempt, but with it being such a long lap a bit more speed in the straight would have been useful!  I'd rather have slow and steady over fast and inconsistent.  Good job.

On the first lap I got a nice slipstream to get close to Purdie but bottled it (probably just good sense for once) as I was still a way behind and on cold brakes.  That would be the closest I got to the fron three until Purdie tangled with a backmarker and lost the front wing (unlucky mate).  With the ballast on board Kerr slowly dropped back, so for most of the race I was hot-lapping.  Still - another massively consistent race is really pleasing.  Think I had one bad lap when I had a big moment at Eau Rouge, and then missed the brake point for the Bus-Stop and got a cut warning whilst getting back on track.

Not a particularly enthralling race, but a good one for me.

Great drives from all ofthe Legends, (unlucky MJ - you should have placed higher) - good team performance!

Really looking forward to the enduro now - should be good fun.

Wow that was intense. Was happy wo get pole in GTC, right infront of BACKO and Paul968.

I had a supersuper stable setup for this race, but that made it a bit slow through Eau Rouge. So BACKO immediatly opened the attack on me after the Kemmel straight and overtook me at Les Combes. Half a lap later he went wide at Pouhon and I got first in class back. Then I had Paul behind me, and that stayed like that the whole race. He was quicker in the first part of the track, but I was a bit quicker in sector 2 and 3, giving me just enough breathingspace to lose some at Eau Rouge.

When Purdie disco'd I got 9th (you were far enough infront for me to go around safely and warn others at Team Speak  Smiley). Later MJ spun and I took his place. He got behind Paul and took a few laps before he overtook him. Then he was gaining fast on me and I wanted to just let him pass, but that was hard as I didn't want too lose time on Paul. So in the end he had to work for the pass but he did fine  Cheesy.

Grats Bara, it looked like fun battle in GT2 with a long train of cars Grin

Real bad luck Purds, thats a shame  :'(

Had another corking nights racing with you guys  Cool

Qually battle was great, was very happy sitting 2nd and 3rd for a long while then a gaggle of sods all jumped me and i dropped to 6th, but still quite happy as knew race setup was good.

..and what a race! it was so flipping intense, lap after lap of pure adrenalin racing  Cool I had superb battles with Brian Kerr, TT and Paul Richards for something like half an hour in the top 6
Unfortunately it all came to an end when i got a bit caught out by Brian changing his attack angle to the Bus stop, i thought he was taking it wide and went inside but we rubbed door handles and the car went into a half spin while Brian was able to continue forward  :'(  it was just enough to make me lose that intense concentration and i braked a tad later at La source only for the car to touch the marbles and do the worlds slowest slow motion slide into the armco where it got stuck taz
I sat there in utter disbelief/frustration as 5 cars steamed past me after all that hard work  :'(
Finally got it back onto the grippier surface and sped after Paul968 and Jeff in their fast moving GTC's. It took me a few laps to get close enough to Paul and then i slip streamed him out of Eau rouge and chased Jeff for another lap, just about getting past his wide Mosler at flat out 6th gear approach to Blanchimont  Shocked...i had to clench buttocks and hope we both got around side by side almost !...we did  Grin
So i got back to 8th place and was just a couple of secs behind the front pack again when the race ended.

Cracking stuff, congrats to all the hard charging, clean racers thumbup1 and great result for teamies Adam and TT, just a shame i didnt finish with them in the top 5 as i was earlier. thumbup2

Top win again mr Baracus  I Am Not Worthy

ps...i also forgot to change my race setup and had an hours worth of fuel onboard.....D'oh ! clown
