Moderator's Report

A nice, quiet race after the crashfests I'm used to. Congrats to Allan Davis on his win.

P Skingley & Ant Miller Lap 1 Turn 1

Paul and Ant are side by side going round the corner. Paul turns in suddenly and there is a warp contact.

Racing incident

D Howe and S Loynes Lap 1 Turn 2

Simon is inside Derek and Derek overtakes around the outside but turns in before he is clear, catches Simon's front left wheel and takes them both off for a spin. Derek didn't leave enough room as Simon is clearly in his right hand mirror as Derek turns in.

This penalty could be increased by one place as it's the first lap but it is the first race of the year and it's Christmas, so....

  • Derek Howepenalty — side by side contact — 2 places lost

Barry West & C Kirk Lap 13 BBQ

Baz West is leading Chris and is rear ended under braking.

  • Chris Kirkpenalty — Rear end Shunt — 2 places lost

Steve Peake Lap 13 Pitlane

Steve fails to bring his Cooper to a stop during his pit stop. I guess he gained around 2 seconds; this should be multiplied by three as a penalty.

  • fester — failure to perform pitstop correctly — 6.000 seconds added

Moderator's Report

Congratulations (again) to Allan Davis. Two in a row is pretty good going. Quite a few incidents so here goes.

Ben was dropped by the server on lap 1 but his replay shows him finishing in 4th place between Mark Stone and Baz West.

Lap 2 Turn 4 P.Skingley, P.Thornton, C.Loynes and S.Peake.

Paul loses the rear end and spins onto the outside of the turn facing the oncoming cars but out of the way off the racing line. Incredibly he then decides to rejoin in front of the oncoming C Loynes and drives right into him. P Thornton can't avoid the subsequent crash and neither can the next driver, S Peake. These 2 both take a non fault shift-r.

  • Tifosi312penalty — bad rejoin — 3 places lost

Lap 2 Dean Holloway and Colin Macdonald

Colin has left the track and rejoins down a grassy bank to Dean's left as Dean comes around the corner. Dean runs into him. Colin should have stopped and made sure the track was clear before rejoining. Dean was yellow flagged as he approached the corner but didn't slow down. If he had, an incident may have been avoided. However, the rejoin was very sudden and unexpected. Additionally, Dean was on a corner where braking would have been impossible. He should have lifted though so I'm reducing his penalty from 3 places to 1.

Lap 6 Dean Holloway and C Macdonald

Colin is following Dean who is himself following D Howe. Dean slides a little going round the corner, scrubbing off speed and sliding right in to the path of Colin's car resulting in a rear end shunt.

Racing incident

Lap 24 Turn 4 D Holloway and M Chapman

Dean is following Mick approaching turn 4. Mick goes up the bank to the left and comes back down to the left and slightly ahead of Dean. Dean is on the racing line and Mick moves onto the racing line in front of Dean just before the apex and they make contact. I think both drivers are at fault here. Mick should have taken more care in trying to retake the racing line. Dean as the following driver has the responsibility for not rear ending the car in front.

  • Dean Hollowaywarning — rear ending M Chapman
  • Mick Chapmanwarning — lack of care while moving in front of D Holloway

Moderator's Report

Monaco once again proved to be an incident filled race with lots of lovely crashes to look at. Allan Davis did it again... well done Old Man.

Lap 1 Gasworks. D.Holloway, P.Thornton and C.Macdonald

Dean & Phil are duking it out approaching the corner with Colin just behind. Dean & Phil touch. Dean is stuck on the inside of the corner and gets tapped by Colin causing an engine fire and a shift-r. Stop/go performed.

Racing incident.

Lap 4 Gasworks Clive Loynes and Tim Robey

Tim runs wide and Clive tries to take him on the inside. Tim thinks Clive was rash to try and get past and Clive claims he wasn't trying to get past and Tim shut the door on him.

Racing incident

Lap 7 St Devote. M. Chapman, T. Robey and D. Holloway

Mick Chapman loses the rear end and slides across the track. Tim loses control trying to avoid Mick's car and they both end up facing the wrong way. They have just got themselves straightened out to set off again when Dean comes tanking around the corner under a waved yellow. He slows but doesn't stop and seeing an opportunity to pass he goes to the right of Tim's car up the pavement. This is just as Tim is moving off and the ensuing crash sends them back into caos. I think Dean is at fault here as he was wreckless in going for the overtake despite the yellow flag and the fact that he would have to go up the pavement to get past.

  • Dean Hollowaypenalty — lack of care approaching an accident (reduced because at least he slowed do — 2 places lost (plus 1 for penalty points)

Lap 21 Haybales Chicane C.Loynes, M.Stone and C.Macdonald

Clive clips the haybale and ends up facing the wrong way in the middle of the circuit. He spins round and reverses back to get going again. He couldn't see or hear M.Stone as he came through the chicane and Mark did very well to avoid Clive. As Clive moved off into the middle of the track he is clipped by the next car driven by Colin Macdonald. Clive is in an imposible position because he's right in the way of cars coming through the chicane so he can't stay where he is but to get moving he has to move onto the racing line.

Racing incident.

Lap 23 Haybales Chicane Clive Loynes and C.Macdonald

Clive clips the bales and loses control. He is still spinning uncontrollably when he is hit by the following car of Colin. Colin takes a non-fault shift-r.

Racing incident.

Lap 28 Gasworks C.Loynes, Allan Davis and Neil Wood.

Difficult one this. Allan is closing to lap Clive who is under a blue flag. Clive is over to the outside of the bend as Allan comes through but there is very little room and they make what looks like a warp contact. Clive could maybe have moved out of the way quicker but Allan had come out of nowhere and taken him unawares so there is no fault there. Allan could maybe have been a little more cautious so I think it's 6 of one and half a dozen of the other. Neil then comes upon the incident to find Clive at right angles in front of him. They crash and Neil takes a shift-r and stop/go.

Racing incident.

There were several other incidents reported to me which were clear cut racing incidents so I haven't mentioned them. I was very pleased to see that plenty of race reports came in which made things much easier for me. Thank you.

Moderator's Report

Congratulations to Mark Stone who won the race and proved that to win a race in Div 2 you've got to be driving a Cooper!

All in all, not too many incidents all of which were reported to me which is great. Thank you.

Lap1 Start/Finish Straight. Phil Thornton and Ben Summers.

Phil overtakes Ben but cuts across him too quickly, leaving insufficient room. He hits Ben's right front wheel and sends Ben on a long excursion down the wrong side of the hay bales.

  • Phil Thorntonpenalty — Side by side contact — 2 places lost

Lap 1 Approaching Six Freres. Simon Loynes, D Holloway and B Summers.

Simon disco's and appears to freeze on the track. The following driver, Dean Holloway brakes hard instinctively and is hit by Ben Summers who is following.

Warp/Racing Incident.

Lap 2 Nouveau Monde. P Thornton and B Summers.

Phil brakes too late and is up against the polos. He reverses back and moves off but doesn't spot Ben coming round the corner to his right and they tangle. Phil should have waited until the track was clear before rejoining. Having said that, Ben was in Phil's blindspot and Ben should maybe have slowed down a little and been more cautious on approach.

  • Phil Thorntonpenalty — Bad rejoin (reduced) — 1 place lost

Moderator's Report

Congrats to Mark on his second consecutive win. Perhaps the championship isn't cut and dried after all.

Not a bad race event wise; just a few incidents.

Lap 1 Turn 3 Clive Loynes and Allan Davis.

Allan is following Clive and tries to overtake down the inside where there isn't really enough room. It's a bit ambitious for lap 1 so that's a 2 place penalty.

  • Allan Davispenalty — Overly ambitious overtake — 2 places lost

Lap 1 Turn 1 Simon Loynes and Ben Summers.

Ben is far over on the left of the corner and moves back over to the centre hitting Simon who is alongside going for the pass. This sends Simon flying. However, Simon was also moving from the racing line over to the right to the centre when they collided. I think it's 60/40 Ben's/Simon's fault so it's a 1 place penalty to Ben and a warning to Simon.

Lap 1 Turn 1 Tim Robey, Phil Thornton and Neil Wood

Tim is following Phil and brakes too late tapping Phil and turning into Neil's path.

  • Tim Robeypenalty — rear end shunt — 2 places lost

Lap 1 Turn 5 Peter Boatman & Allan Davis

Phil is following Allan and brakes too late into the corner. He hits Allan's rear tire and sends Allan off.

Pitstop Peter Boatman

Hmmm...interesting one this. Peter pulls in and stops. Then he rolls forward slowly for the next 18 seconds before taking off. By my reckoning that's 7 seconds short x 3 which is a 21 second time penalty. Also this was not a good pitstop as he only stopped for a couple of seconds and spent the rest of the time moving forward. I'm giving Peter some benefit of the doubt here but I think that the time he saved probably put him ahead of Clive Loynes at the finish and this isn't really fair.

  • Peter Boatman — incorrect and short pitstop — 21.000 seconds added

Moderator's Report

Well done to Mark Stone on the win and for closing the gap right up to Allan Davis. The championship could now go either way particularly now that news has leaked out the the more senior driver was struggling with his fitness towards the end of the gruelling 'Ring race. Rumours abound that he may also miss the next race at Mosport. Watch this space.

Congrats also to Dean Holloway who drove a faultless, patient race while taking advantage of others falling off and the fact that Ms Fujikawa's machinery didn't need a pitstop. A well deserved second place.

Right, down to the incidents of which there weren't many.

Lap 4 Phil Thornton & Neil Wood

Neil tries to pass half on the grass and half on the track but it wasn't really on and they collide. There is no position gained and no damage caused but it's still an ambitious overtake. Overtaking at the 'Ring is virtually impossible and I think impatience overcame judgement in Neil's case.

  • Neil Woodpenalty — ambitious overtake (reduced) — 1 place lost

Lap 4 Ben Summers' Pitstop

Ben is 4 seconds short which means a time penalty of 12 seconds.

Lap 5 Phil Thornton and Neil Wood

Neil is following Phil and rear ends him as they round a corner. Again no real harm done and it's only a gentle shunt so I'm again reducing the penalty to 1 place

  • Neil Woodpenalty — rear end shunt — 1 place lost

Lap 5 Phil Thornton & Neil Wood Eschbach

Neil is following Phil who goes wide to the right on the left hander. Neil goes for the gap but unfortunately is unable to keep his car from drifting to the right as well and he rear ends Phil. I'm reducing the penalty to 1 place because there was a gap, no position was gained and lack of control by Neil was a contributary factor.

  • Neil Woodpenalty — rear end shunt — 1 place lost

Moderator's Report

Congratulations to Simon Loynes on his first ever UKGPL win. It must be a lovely feeling. The championship is still to be decided. Not a bad race for incidents. Here we go.

Lap 5 P Thornton and N Wood Last turn

Neil is following Phil who runs wide onto the grass on the last left hander and ends up in the pitlane. As Phil comes back onto the track across the grass verge seperating the pitlane from the track, he clips the passing Neil. Phil knows he had Neil behind him and could have slowed before rejoining. However, he was on the grass and I don't think he had full control.

  • Phil Thorntonpenalty — bad rejoin (reduced owing to reduced control) — 2 places lost (plus 1 for penalty points)

Lap 22 P Thornton and B Summers.

Ben is following Phil and rear ends him as they approach a right hander. This takes them both up the grassy bank. Ben sportingly allows Phil to re-take his position.

  • Ben "Welling" Summerspenalty — Rear end shunt (reduced for gentlemanly conduct and lack of damage done) — 1 place lost

Lap 23 Turn 7 N Wood and C Loynes

Neil is following Clive very closely. Clive drifts a little left and Neil looks to go inside to the right. As Neil's left front comes alongside Clive's rear right they touch and Clive is sent into a spin. There may ahve been an element of warp here; it's impossible to be sure. As Clive spins out of control he hits Neil amidships setting him on fire and forcing him into a shift-r and an unecessary stop/go as this was not Neil's fault.

Racing incident/possible warp.

Lap 27 Last turn N Wood and M Stone

Neil is following Mark and is quicker. Mark crests the rise, brakes and momentarily locks. Neil rear ends him. Mark takes a shift-r which does not require a stop/go. Mark does not appear to brake any earlier than usual but his lock up may have contributed to the impact. It's Neil's responsibility as the following car to avoid hitting the car in front but I'm going to be leniant as a I was with Ben and reduce it by 1 place.

  • Neil Woodpenalty — rear end shunt (reduced owing to Mark locking up) — 1 place lost (plus 2 for penalty points)

Moderator's Report

Congratulations to Mark Stone for winning what was a thrilling race; one of the best of the season. It looks like he's going to be champion after a series of brilliant drives.

No race incidents that needed moderating and all pitstops performed properly. That's the way I like it. Just Aintree to go.

Moderator's Report

Congratulations to Mark Stone for winning the Div2 Season 10 title after a thrilling season-long struggle with Allan Davis. Allan had to miss a couple of races which was a real shame as it would have made it an even tighter contest. Of the eight races where they both competed, honours were even at 4 wins each. You couldn't make it up!

Lap 3 P Thornton & T Robey

Phil has spun off and returns from the left of the track into the path of the following Tim Robey. Tim had no yellow flag, he did manage to slow down but impact was unavoidable. Phil should have taken more care here and checked all was clear before rejoining and before getting back on to the racing line. However, in Phil's favour is the fact that at no point was Tim visable in his mirrors so I'm reducing the penalty to 2 places.

  • Phil Thorntonpenalty — Bad rejoin — 2 places lost (plus 2 for penalty points)

Lap 15 P Thornton & T Robey

Phil is to the left and Tim goes down the inside attempting an overtake approaching a right hander. As they draw up side by side they touch and spin off. I think Tim was a little ambitious with this manoevre but my main critism is that he didn't leave Phil enough room. He could have been much further over to the right (ie on the inside approaching the corner) and there would probably have been enough room for them both. Tim was wreckless in placing his car where he did and this caused the coming together. In his favour, they were side by side when they touched and some of the contact was caused as Phil turned in.

  • Tim Robeypenalty — Over ambitious overtake (reduced) — 1 place lost
