Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 48s

Psuedo's wheelspin during the start allows both Mr Oily and Geoffers1 to drag up alongside, and Psuedo - who has nearly a full car's width of tarmac to his right - drifts left into Mr Oily, who has nowhere to go. Psuedo's car slows as the result of events ahead, and Tony behind makes very light contact with the back of Psuedo's car. Unfortunately, as Psuedo is leaning on the back right corner of Mr Oily, this is enough to turn the latter across the front of the former.

We see this as a racing incident and the inevitable result of running standing start off a relatively tight grid with powerful cars.

  • Racing incident

Server replay time: 122s

Pseudo brakes a little earlier than those in front into chicane which is eminently sensible given its lap one. Sandor brakes at normal point, even perhaps a little too late, and pokes his nose inside Pseudo as he turns in which spins him out.

This is another incident where a driver didn't give themselves time to react. First laps with cold brakes and tyres always throw up some tricky moments so we all should give ourselves the time to adjust if needed.

  • Sandor M (Sandor Mooijekind)penalty — Rear end shunt — 1 place lost

Dunno whether its good luck, or excellent car testing by Bob and Ian, but I don't think I've ever driven the GT40 and felt it to be so at home on a track.  Thought the track would be a little small for the GT40.  But no, none of the usual understeery tendencies, it's just foot to the floor with the best balance I've ever experienced in this car.  Not even close to losing it ever, and sub 20s easy.  Pure joy.

I remember going to the Coys Festival at Silverstone in 97, I think, the 50th Ferrari anniversay, and in one race there were 8 of the 25-30 250 GTOs ever made.  I wonder if it's gonna be like that at Goodwood, a dozen or more of the few GT40s ever made.  Grin

I'm sorry Sub 20s easy? If that's the case the GT40 is heavily outclassing it's competiton in this one. The lap records are 1:17s in GTC 75 cars - I have to work my TVR's ass off to get 1:23s - and I'm keeping my foot down 95% of the track. I sure hope you were just making an over excited estimate on that

A quick look at GTL rank says that Steve is prolly going very, very well in the GT40   Kiss When I tested my times were much of a muchness in GT40 (which I'm not great in I'll admit) and Cobra with the TVR lagging a little behind. There's no doubt the GT has a slight edge but I aim to push some of them very hard in my Cobra Smiley

Unfortunately, its very tricky to put the TVR in a tight fight with the other GTC's. I've tried bleeding hard to find the right track for it as I really enjoy it and hope others will next week  Smiley

I ran the GT40 and i was getting similar times that I was in the TVR - so it didn't seem to me that hte GT40 had any giant advantage at the time

It depends on whether you can get the setup to work, I think.  If you end up with a bit of understeer in the GT40 you lose loads of time, have to lift in one or two places.  I just found a setup that worked very well, divide the track up into several sections and each one is foot to the floor no lift required.  In that case the greater top speed of the GT40 gives a bit of time over the TVR.  I'm running the longest gears, hitting the rev limiter too much in mid gears. Of course, knowing the guys we have at SRouk, there will be several people quicker than me come Thursday.  Grin

On a fast track the GT40 can compete with most 76 cars, I've stayed with all but the quickest 76 cars on public servers at Monza GP for example, and Goodwood is fast too.

Had a quick blat with my Cobra vs Phil's GT40 and we were pretty evenly matched. A good Cobra driver, not me yet  Wink, should be dipping into 19's but it certainly isn't easy. Boy its great fun running the Cobra alongside the GT, the sound Grin

I am left utterly speechless.  Lived in this house for 2 1/2 years, never an electrical gremlin, and then tonight there is a momentary surge, and PC shuts down while I'm in the lead.  The only blip in years occurs during the 40 minutes that matter.

Never won a race at SRouk before, and finally a good chance, got pole, messed up the start dropped to 4th, got back in the lead after a lap, had contact lapping Tibernius and fell to 3rd, and got back in the lead again and then BANG, game over.

I think I'm doing very well not to be plastering expletives all over the place.  Smilies cannot convey my mood. The power didn't even go down, just a fraction of a second's darkness and then straight back up.

Guess what....yet another race ruined for me on the first lap.

Qualy was ok ish....3 tenths down but I couldn't seem to get a decent lap together. Resonably happy with 7th though. Got a resonable start but took it very easy into turn 1 as it seemed from where I was that everybody had to be the first round it...4 abreast and not much of a view other than sparks and bits of flying bodywork. nono

Settled in around 9th I think only to get a hefty tap on my rear from somebody trying to overtake me on the entry to the chicane  Huh...that spun me round the wrong way onto the grass and I rejoined second to last. Red mist was showing though and I was overdriving and ended up spinning a couple of times so just quit.

It may be the end of the season, but I am feeling very grumpy, so please dont be too suprised if there are some reports entered for this one after I have seen the replay.

Grats survivors and podiums.
