Was there ever a track so perfectly designed……………………………………………to enable the little lady’s cars to shovel Lotus 43s out of their way? If it were not for the fact that I’m so piggin slow here, I would not fancy my chances of reaching the end of lap one before having to fish a wee Ferrari out of one of my pockets! Thankfully they should all start in front of me! Even Ken!

I have been working with Remy on this update for Zandvoort. It has different graphics, groove and objects for each season. The main differences being between 66 and 69. The graphics will switch automatically, as will the program covers etc.. There are more objects and longer draw distances than the original Zandvoort so if you have an older, maybe slower PC, you may experience frame rate issues. My PC is three years old, AMD 64Athlon 3200+ with a 6600GT, and runs the track with no problems. To install, you need to rename your existing zandvort folder ( in gpl/tracks ) to keep as a backup. Copy from your gpl CD, the original zandvort folder into you gpl/tracks folder. Install the files in zandvort folder from this update, to the original zandvort folder in gpl/tracks. http://1969gpl.speedgeezers.net/files/tracks/zandvoort_multi_season/Zandvoort_Multi_season_update.zipThis update is not yet posted publically, thank you for helping us test it paul

Since there's been some discussion about it behind scenes, I'm posting a reminder here. All races count towards the final standings. In other gpl divisions it's the best 8 of 10 races, in historic it's all of them. It was stated as such before the season, but some members didn't know. Hence this remainder, and I'll probably repeat it in the next race announcement, which should do the trick.

Bugger it, there was a power cut in my area with perhaps five laps to go I did have time to make a mess of things earlier in the race though... Quali was good, I had some good runs and posted a PB without the aid of draft. I was happy with it although I thought I could drop into 26 range but instead did some fuelled runs. Lorenzo posted nearly identical lap and snatched pole. I was hoping to jump him in the first set of corners but it didn't happen. We then had about 10 laps (I think) of chasing each other, me after Lorenzo, Neil after me and Paul after Neil. It was very tense and interesting but nobody was finding any way through. I made a small mistake after Hondenvlak, putting two wheels on the grass and being somewhat slowe, and an opportunity arose which Neil sensibly took but I didn't react all too well. Sorry Neil. I didn't see the replay yet but I'm pretty sure I bounced off him and finished in the dunes, reset and rejoined after Paul and ahead of Clive so was on course to finish 4th with penalties looming over my head. So, everything that could go wrong, did go wrong in the end... Grats to Lorenzo, Paul and Neil, it was very enjoyable racing you lot.

I spent most of the race fending off the close attentions of Mike B's BRM which I think was was trying to make up for lost ground from an earlier off. After a few attempts at passing me in various places around the track he pulled off a demon outbraking manouver into Tarzan and made it stick.
Sorry Mike if I slowed your progress for a while but I must say I did enjoy the company
I think my newly purchased car needs a bit more work doing to it in the set up department, as I seemed to struggle getting it out of the slower corners.

That has to be one of the most enjoyable Zandy races I've had in a while. I managed to keep my 3rd place after the first few laps but Paul was looking very keen behind me. Eventually he got passed when I had it at a 45° angle half on the grass, but he later went gardening in turn 1 on the next lap. That was seriously tense (and very much like the BTCC) when you're trying to find a way past the car in front and defend like mad at the same time. With Kruger in front of me it has rematch written all over it and things were getting close. As Kruger said he put a wheel on the grass and I got a look down the inside. Sorry Neil. I didn't see the replay yet but I'm pretty sure I bounced off him and finished in the dunes
I had a look at the replay and it was just a warp tap I didn't feel anything so just assumed you had made a mistake, but you did nothing wrong. Really hate it when small warps end someones race like that. After all that I was in 2nd with Lorenzo in front. I wasn't sure I was able to catch him but as the race progressed I seemed to have the advantages in the corners. In the handling department I had the advantage, but in the power department, I well, didn't have any. This was another pretty tense battle I nearly got a look in to pass when we were passing backmarkers but I got myself boxed in lol.

Hmmm..... Was just wondering if we could bring back the death penalty for anyone found guilty of causing a Lotus 43 to be inverted.

I was merely attempting to adjust Mr Loynes valve clearances in order that he might be able to go a little quicker Big apologies to Clive, the flogging will be in public and all revenue from ticket sales will go to the Loynes Lotus Performance Improvement Fund.
