Moderator's Report

Summary

A curtailed race due to server problems produced an exciting race for the the winner's laurels. Ken Murray made up for the Lotus pit stops and closed in on Clive Gardner's Eagle with just 2 laps to go. Despite being all over the gearbox of the Eagle, Ken couldn't get by and in the sprint to the line it looked as if Clive had the win in the bag. But as they crested the rise at Deer Leap the Eagle's engine let go and Ken edged by to claim the win. Bernie Darwin brought his Cooper home for a well deserved podium place.

A very clean race with no incidents or pit stop discretions.

Division 1 - Round 10 - Oulton Park

Round 10 of the Season 15 Div 1 championship is at Oulton Park.  It's the last round of the season, Hristo has an unassailable lead in the championship with maximum points but there are still three drivers in with a chance of the runner-up slot.  So there is still plenty to race for in the final round.  Incident reports should be entered on the SRou system as normal following the link at the bottom of the results table when it appears.  Race details below.

Div 1 Season 15 Round 10 is this Sunday at 9:00 p.m. London UK time.
Please be in VROC UKGPL chatroom by 8:55 p.m.

Thanks Steven.  Just spent the last 2 weeks in a caravan in North Wales, no TV or Computers but loads of rain.  Weather was atrocious Sad.    Nice to be back on-line  Smiley.  I think I'll have a spin in the 312 later, somewhere sunny.  Monaco or maybe Monza LOL  boat.

The normal Div 1 server (1.ukgpl) is down so won't be available for tonight's race.  I'm planning to run the race on Bully's server instead.  I will be launching the server via IGOR so if you only have VROC you'll have to join the server directly via IP 87.194.135.42.  You can still join chat via VROC but the server won't appear on the race list.

I've asked Bully to set the race length to 32 laps but if there is a problem we may have to run the race over the "standard" long distance of 18 laps.  If so, I'll post revised pit stop times.

A bit late to give this warning but remember iGOR uses gplc67.exe, so if you use the Logi Profiler you need to set that exe.

Great day in the park for team pie eater amongst some very enjoyable company , was I pleased to finish though , any more than 18 laps I would have needed a pit stop for a rest .

Turn out was a little dissapointing but since I was absent for last weeks Masters race I wasn't going to miss this one.

I again took the Lotus because I've been trying to improve my PB here for sometime now but find I need the spur of competition to knuckle down and really see where I can go faster. So I was pleased to get in to the mid 31's, very nearly a whole second faster than my old PB.

I was lulled in to a false sense of security though and I hadn't noticed how advantageous the Eagle pitstop appeared to be. When I emerged from my second stop behind Clive G I was thinking after one lap he'd be in pitlane himself and I'd be way out in front again, but his second stop never came!! So in those last 3 or 4 laps I was pushing him like mad but Oulton is such a diffiult track to make a pass on. It came down to Lodge on the final lap and I lunged up the inside all wheels locked. I was up the inside but not able to get track position. There was slight contact and we both squirmed around a little then it was a drag race to the line. It was going to be ever so close but just a few meters from the line I heard an engine go pop. At first I assumed it was my Lotus but then quickly realised I was still motoring and Clive had dissappeared. I got it by 0.3 secs I think.

I may have it taken off me if the moderators deem my Lodge antics not acceptable, either way it was a fun final few laps.

Hehehehe , must confess to chuckling when I passed you in the pits Ken. I don't quite understand why the Eagle had such a nice pitstop, but I'm not complaining. I was content to just keep you somewhere within binocular range for the first half of the race and was watching prib to see how far in front you actually were in the hope that I would leapfrog you.

Bernie managed to sneak his ultra wide Cooper past me when I pitted, and a few laps were spent trying to plot an expeditionary route around him. Well done Bernie that Cooper was no slouch in your hands, but the sheer speed of the Eagle got me alongside in the end.
Then I set about maintaining the gap to Ken.
When you came out the pits behind me I was surprised that you did not close up quicker than you did, but now I understand why Grin

Grats to Ken, though it might have been a different result if my pistons had stayed in their holes for another 3 seconds!!!

Thanks to all and to Hristo hard luck for missing the race, although it did not change your spot at the top of the table.

Thanks to the nice mods ( always pays to grovel I find) and all in Div1 for the last season...its been another season of education and fun for me. Maybe one day I will be fast enough to compete...if I live that long Undecided
