Moderator's Report

Server replay time: 63s

In a night race, Minton loses control of his car at the start and spins, ending up facing the wrong way. As LigelC and Racepace approach Minton attempts a controlled spin but in the process of this execution he collides with LigelC and Racepace causing them both to have spins.

Server replay time: 134s

Sandor is following Legzy through the twisty mountain section. As they clear the final right hander they see Geoffers upturned car sliding left to right across the track. Legzy reacts by moving to the left to miss Geoffers wreck but Sandor is also taking this route so Legzy and Sandor collide. Sandor is able to continue but the impact sends Legzy into Geoffers. Legzy then is upturned but is able to continue after a while.
I would have to put this down to a racing incident as I see no blame can be shouldered by any of the drivers involved.

This Event may be going ahead despite the recent Lobby connection problems. It depends on how many off you are able to connect. Please do the poll so we know if we have a race or not. For details of the connection fixes please go HERE

All members welcome.

Track: Bathurst download here
Time of Day Setting: 04:00 Night race

Practice: ~19:20 (60 mins)
Qualifying: 20:20 (15 mins)
Race: 20:35 20 laps (50 mins)

Grid/server capacity:28

Cars allowed: BMW CSL, Ford Escort RS, Fiat Abarth 131 GT (Available here) Porsche 914

Server: UKGTL Classic Cup
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) Driver lists can be found on the championship standings page
(4) This race will be run using the UKGTL Skin Pack 1.8.0.0 which will need to be installed prior to racing; please get it from the downloads page.

This is a Drivers Choice track and was proposed by Blunder. If you have a circuit or circuit/car combo that you think would be suitable for a future event please send a pm to Legzy and Wiltshire Tony.

We have a Plan B alternative race lined up in case we don't get enough votes to go ahead with the GTL event. The alternative fixture will be P&G Gr.2 & Gr.5 cars at Goodwood (GTR2 downloads). We will confirm which event is GO at 18:00(ish)

Is there anyway of improving the lights of the BMW.  Having learnt the track I tried a few laps at 1am, only to find that "someone had moved all the corners"   Roll Eyes Roll Eyes  More powerful lights would help I'm sure.

Also is there any chance of the 'quickies' posting their lap time, especially if in the BMW. thumbup1

I'm hopeful of making this my 'return race' having at long last finished my therapy.  Mind you 'Bathurst in the Dark' could well mean we will all need some kind of therapy by the time its over.   whistling w00t

Thanks for link to the lights download 57GTop - installed and have managed a few sub 2:40sec laps in a race with AI's (best so far 2:38.Cool.   Also thanks dynasaur I'm begining to feel more like my old self and starting to do a bit of race practice each day.

While downloading the lights from NoGrip I saw the Porsche 917 mod so have DLed that as well.  Not had a chance to try it yet but has anyone tried it out.  I did notice a note from PR re this mod - so whats your verdict Paulo?

Laurie, just have done 2 laps and made it in 2.23.7xx
Not a very good setup tho, car is locking tires a bit and drifting exiting corners.  Roll Eyes

I haven't tried 917 mod yet.

errr, I've been on the server. That was a lot easier then I thought  Embarrassed

I know it's been writen before, but this is what I did:
1)
Stick this file in your "C:\GTL" folder. http://www.humyo.com/F/9349539-1469477767
2) Fire up GTL as normal, then go to multiplayer.
3) Connect to IP (not lobby)
4) Add the IP to connect to (81.19.209.165).
4a) Log in (this looks like when you log into the lobby, it's suggested you use a password that you don't use elsewhere)
5) Click on the server & you're in (after a brief wait) Cheesy

With that fix, there is no need to touch your host file (unless you've already changed it, then you would need to remove the GTL changes you did).

p.s. cheers for your effort on this Tony (& Ade for his guidance last night)

Yeah it's a piece of Plaice. It's worth noting that there's actually another step between 4 and 5 when it asks you to log in. Also, when you perform step 5 - as Tony mentioned, it'll sit there for 5 seconds (for me closer to 10) while it's "searching", after which you'll see the name of the server in the list ready for selection.

EDIT by Legzy - Cheers Oily, now updated above.

Don't forget to type a nonsense password in at step 4a, not your real lobby password and definitely not a password you use for anything else. Wink Personally I use "bwahahaha". laugh
