UKGPL Season 18 - Inter-League Race - Monza 10K

A chance to re-live the classic film "Grand Prix" as we visit Monza to try out the 66 cars on the awesome banking.  What could be more exciting?  Well how about challenging another team whilst doing it of course.  GPLRacer will be our opponents for this one.  They narrowly beat us at Albi last time.  Let's hope we have another close battle but this time with us coming out on top.  Please extend a hearty welcome to GPLRacer.

Please note the race time.  The clocks go back one hour in the UK this weekend.  Also it is an earlier start than usual to accomodate our friends in Germany.

Each league is to field nine cars, and there are no chassis handicaps, drivers will be racing to complete the distance and score points for their team.

Please be in IGOR UKGPL chatroom by 18:55 UK London time (18:55GMT), (You will need to set up a channel called #ukgpl if you haven't already done so)
Chat and Race passwords: see above

Server 4.UKGPL

Race date = 25-10-2009
Time = 19:00 UK London time (19:00GMT)
Track = Monza 10K - download here
Variant = 66F1
Damage Model = PRO
Qually time = 35 minutes.
Race length = 25 laps (complete 22 laps to score points as a finisher)

Chassis assignments: (Captain to advise)

Brabham BT19 - Mike Beattie
Brabham BT19 - Phil Thornton
BRM P83 - Jethro Walters
Cooper T81 - John Roberts
T1G Eagle Weslake - Doni Yourth
Ferrari 312 - Kruger Enge
Honda RA273 - Tim Muttram
Lotus 43 BRM - Clive Gardner (evilclive)
Mclaren M2B Ford - Hristo Itchov

If you'd like to represent UKGPL in this race please post on the thread and advise what chassis you'd prefer.  Driver lists and points scored can be found on the championship standings page

Please Note: The logistics involved in organizing an Inter League race are more complicated than for a regular league race.  Particularly when different time zones are involved.  Consequently the details above are liable to change.  Please will all drivers check this thread regularly to make sure they don't miss any important updates.

I'd like to continue the Ferrari theme, only this time, a 3L version might come a bit handy  devil

They appear to have castors fitted at all four corners.  Like a shopping trolley.  Roll Eyes

7pm UK time to note.

I'll think who could drive what laters. Right now I need food.

Yeah, given that it's the 10K course, it should be either ALL 3 litres or ALL Under 3 litres, as there is absolutely no point in running Sub 3 litre cars against the big engined cars here. So can it not be 2 x BT19s ?

As usual I'm available for any car that you feel fit to give me Smiley

Yes we can, the chassis allocations are only for guidelines and we can tailor them for each race as we see fit (hence why I've announced this race early - it gives us the time and a thread on which to discuss the details).  Whatever we do, I'll have to agree it with Stefan Roess, he is my POC at GPLRacer.  As it says in the note on the first post of this thread - details are likely to change.

So how about these:

2 x Brabham BT19
1 x BRM P83
1 x Cooper T81
1 x T1G Eagle Weslake
1 x Ferrari 312
1 x Honda RA273
1 x Lotus 43 BRM
1 x Mclaren M2B Ford

If we are happy with that I'll suggest it to Stefan.

I wasn't expecting to see this so soon.
You may or may not know this is my favorite track so I have, probably unrealistic, expectations to try this one.
What sort of lap times would you be expecting?

I was planning to try for the opposition (where I also race) as you guys have the Interleague team pretty well wrapped up.

That sounds alright TBH. Suggest it and see what the response is. Monza10k I think favours the 3L cars overwhelmingly, but I'll try it out tomorrow and see. If the little BRM turns out to be quicker than the Beast from Bourne I know there's something amiss.

The top 14 Training times on GPLRank are all Ferrari, stretching from a 2:25.825 to 2:27.200.  Mike is in there at 13th with a 2:27.198 and Natan is 7th with a 2:26.681.
There is a Cooper at 2:27.237 and then a Lotus 43 at 2:27.508.

I would expect Kruger to be at a low 26 or even a 25 if he gets some pracy.  Then we can take it in turns to slipstream him in qually.  Grin

Getting back to the question, 2:25.00 to 2:30.00 at a rough guess.

EDIT:  Managed a 27.59 in training in the L43 but I notice that Racer's Julien Mondragon  alien has just posted a 26.88.  Sad  Still, close enough for a tow!  Grin
