Moderator's Report

This is a tough one... TT gets a run on Shark going into T6 but doesn't quite get the overlap to complete the pass so they are running side-by-side through T7 where there's contact on exit and TT gets the worst of it.

Both drivers could have prevented the accident with a little more care.

Shark could have eased off slightly out of the turn (TT was 90% ahead and pulling away) and could have stayed a little tighter (though not much). However, TT had the opportunity to, and probably should, have stayed wider coming out of the turn to give Simon more room.

In conclusion, this was a racing incident, I believe neither driver deliberately or carelessly put themselves in a dangerous position and this was largely due to a bit of inexperience in these huge cars.

Car: Dallara Indycar
Track: Road America (Full)

Practice: approx. 18:00 for 135 mins
Qualifying: 20:15 (15 mins)
Race: 20:30 (22 laps, approx 40 mins)

Start: rolling (EDITED due to complete lack of attention to detail... Roll Eyes)
UNLIMITED 'fast tows' (resets) available for each driver (available by pressing SHIFT+R by default)

NOTE: All sessions protected by the main password, there is no seperate 'pre-event practice'

A couple of notes re. Blue Flags during qualifying and race where they differ from GTR2;

Blue Flags during qualifying - if you see a blue flag during qualifying it will be on your outlap and the driver approaching is on a hotlap. Please take this into account and act accordingly. The driver behind does not know you are on an outlap so no rash moves out of the way please  Usual SRouk rules / guidelines should be applied.

Blue Flags during the race -  if you see a blue flag during the race it means the driver approaching is about to lap you. Please take this into account and act accordingly. It differs from GTR2 in that you will not be penalised for not allowing the lapping driver to pass within a certain period. The flag is informational only. Usual SRouk rules / guidelines should be applied.

Pit Boxes - there are TBC slots available at Road America.

A little tip for any Dallara noobs... you will need to stop once for fuel. You'll only get about 16 laps out of a full tank here.

I have a reasonably forgiving set-up after racing this combo last week. Shout if anyone wants it.

Edited the start from 'standing' to 'rolling'.

The rolling start is double file behind the pace car. The lead car is responsible for starting the race when the lights go green.

Another top-tip for you.

Heading downhill into the left-hand T5 there is an absolutely HUGE bump that scared the life out of me the first time I hit it.

If you brake at, or just before, the '2' marker you should be fine. That's about the limit of my ability to brake safely for that turn anyway.

I haven't experienced it in any other car, I think it's become apparent due to running the Indy with very low ride height.

Yep, same here. I find that for the first two laps out of the pits on cold rubber it's a problem, after that (once the tyre pressures come up and the ride height increases) it's okay.

lol lol lol lol lol lol

Oh, my.... I gotta run that again..... Grin

First race there this week I had 28 incidents! SR took a heavy hit!
Margin for error is soooo small.
Second race 9 incidents, last race 0 incidents!
Only issue is that to be 'competitive you need to push, but pushing means I'm off the track more, usually from outbraking myself / loosing control.
I think that is 3 incidents isn't it? 1 for off track and 2 for loss of control!?
If I drive conservatively, I'm 3 seconds a lap slower... and I'm not the quickest to start with! Smiley
It gets manic too, especially as some races seem to be low on numbers so you get people from Div 1 to Div 10 all together!
Getting out of the way can be tricky! Smiley

1.55 in race trim is my pb but will run 1.58's in the race so I stay on track! Sad

Incidents! Don't remind me. The only reason I came back to iR is not being bothered by incidents and ratings in private leagues. offtopic If I knew how to remove "Hey, you went off the road again!" I'd to it even before I fill the tank. censored

Susan Boyle Flint fixed my account - hope it stays that way. Undecided  Hope Indycar is worth the money, don't want to buy another 2HP washing machine. Tongue

lol I'm flattered, but you might want to reconsider this. Grin Can't get the hang of iR properly and I hope it won't take 10 seasons to get into 2nd class as in GTR2. Smiley  Motivation might help - so far it's fine and I expect Indycar to set it a step higher. yes

If you find you think the Indycar drives like a 2HP washing machine I think you can safely give up with iRacing! lol
