UKGPL Season 18 - Inter-League Race - Rouen

From its opening in 1950, Rouen-Les-Essarts was recognized as one of Europe's finest circuits, with modern pits, a wide track, and spectator grandstands. The circuit (which ran on public roads) had a few medium straights, a cobbled hairpin turn (Nouveau Monde) at the southernmost tip, and a few blind corners through a wooded hillside. The appeal was greatly enhanced by the climb from Nouveau Monde at 56 metres to Gresil at 149 metres. Rouen hosted five Formula One French Grand Prix races, the last one in 1968 resulting in the tragic burning death of Jo Schlesser. The circuit continued to host major Formula 2 events until 1978, after which it was used for various French Championships. The circuit was closed down in 1994 due to economic and safety reasons. In 1999, following the circuit's closure, all evidence of area's racing past was demolished, including grandstands, pits, Armco and track signs. The cobbled Nouveau Monde hairpin was also asphalted but it is still possible to drive around on the original circuit configuration.

Our guests for this round are EOLC, they scored a comprehensive win over us last time at Watkins Glen, dominating the podium, in fact taking the first six places.  UKGPL have got to do better this time!  Each league is to field nine cars, and there are no chassis handicaps, drivers will be racing to complete the distance and score points for their team.

Please be in IGOR UKGPL chatroom by 19:55 UK London time (19:55GMT), (You will need to set up a channel called #ukgpl if you haven't already done so)

hmmmm yes.

I'll try and wrestle the Eagle into shape again, but I fear that I shall need near world record pace throughout this race, just to stay with these guys Undecided.....................................and that is unlikely from me lol.

Still, at least there are 2 weeks to get some practice  Roll Eyes

OK with me Tim.

If you are more confident with the Eagle, you take it, and I will try the "red thing" as a novelty. It has been a long time since SHE allowed me a drive in a 67 fez   Wink  lol

Just checked EOLC's race thread.  They are well organized so the race is definitely on.  Get some practice in!  These guys are very fast and can boast World Record holders amongst their ranks.

They are an hour ahead so a few of their drivers have requested to start an hour earlier than the posted time of 21:00 GMT.  Unless any of our drivers have a major objection then I propose we move the start time to 20:00 GMT.

We will be using the T7 server so the connections should be first class Grin

2000GMT *should*, all things being well, be fine by me. Tim and evil, your cars are swapped, if you'd rather take Eagle/Fez, or even the Lotus, I'm happy to take the Eagle, BRM or Lotus. One big happy family. Smiley

Not trying to bring your spirits down, but because EOLC are mostly made up of aliens we don't have a realistic chance of beating them by outright speed. That's why please focus on finishing more than usual as we can hope they'd get more attrition than us and thus score less.

With that said, if I blew up in the Honda it's not my fault.  Grin

Wanna swap to the Lotus then? Wink

I'm happy with the BRM which frees up the exuberant Honda. Smiley

lol,

Just tried the Ferrari for the first time in about a year last night for a few laps around Rouen. Started to work on a setup but I am way off any sort of pace and consistency. Best was around 1:56 on very low fuel and was not so much untidy, but an absolute shambles of a lap with no chance of surviving a whole race. The only thing positive is that if i can tidy it up and get that red thing under control there will be another couple of seconds ( at least) to be found for sure.

I am going to have to resort to d'loading some setups ( which is something I only do in extreme frustration!!) as a starting point at least.,

P.S. all donations gratefully recieved angel

The Fezza always has been a bit 'errant at the rear' I've found  Grin

I'm quite happy to stick with it if you'd rather the Eagle, I only mentioned I could take that as I enjoy it here - something to do with the engine note as you blast down the S/F straight  angel
