Just an idea at the moment, but I reckon there's some good racing to be had here and could perhaps fill a little gap depending on interest. Topic is locked for now, but please feel free to pm any views/thoughts.

Thanks to all of you who took the trouble to vote. I know that Race 07 divides opinion here and with only 12 interested at this stage, my gut feeling is that there probably isn't enough of us to take this any further. With the poll closed this topic is now unlocked, so if anyone has any further thoughts please post them here.

I would disagree GT. For a first outing twelve seems a good number IMO. I'd say give it a go.

I'm not a fan of the Radicals, the Caterhams are fun. However, the best cars in the Race series are the msucle cars from Race On, but I think hardly anyone has that game. Was only 8 pounds that game Smiley

My original idea was to have a short Wednesday night Race 07 series and that a fun event would be a good way to kick off interest. I was hoping for more numbers, but if you feel we have enough for now let's discuss the possibilities.

My thoughts were to offer something different to our current events and that the cats especially would fit that bill. I tested these against a GTR2 cats mod and after a bit of ffb tweaking I concluded that the Race 07 cats were nicer. The original Simbin Race 07 rads are ok, but in the course of my testing I discovered the RMi Radicals mod (for which I believe we already have permissions).

This mod is basically a complete revamp of Simbin's original physics and is very good imho. If you haven't tried these you really ought to.

It's not in the menu - they show up as an additional tick box option at the top of the relevant Radical pages within the game. IMHO they are an improvement over the SimBin Radicals.

Had my first Race 07 experience last night, taking the lowest powered Caterham 7 around Brands GP circuit. Very impressed especially as it automatically detected that I was using Track IR!

However when I went to race against AI driven 7's the sim became un-driveable. I guess  I'm going to have to tweak the video settings to get a better result. Overall though I likey  Grin

Oh, I did have to turn the FFB right down as it felt like I was trying to turn my desk over when it came to turning the wheel.

I always enjoyed taking part in Race races here and elsewhere. The Cats, more power the better, are are definitely my faves but I've not tried the Rad mod mentioned.

Would take part but Wednesday is MARA night :'( I guess no other night is likely? (Saturday is NAGP night Roll Eyes).

Build it and they will come. Best of luck Tudor.

OK chaps. Seems like there might be enough interest to stage a short series.

I propose a fun event which will allow us all to familiarise ourselves with the sim and iron out any potential problems. Following this there will be a 5 race series featuring the Caterhams and original R07 tracks, details to be decided.

Wednesdays seemed the obvious choice as it wouldn't interfere with existing our events and avoids the traditional beer socialising evenings at the weekend. A real shame you can't make it though Ian.

I've not tried the muscle cars, but I think less people are likely to have Race On and would therefore limit the turnout. Would be great to see you both in the Caterhams.

Depending on the success of this series, I hope to stage a Radicals series following on, probably using the RMi mod.

No worries, I expect the same, too few people with Race On. I only have it for a few weeks as I was already planning on using it, or else I wouldn't have it as well.

I probably can't make wednesdaynights, as I will be in another league with Race On (WTCC) and GTR2 (GT500). Maybe I can squeeze in somewhere, quite interesting to see how the new Radicals are. The Caterhams are more fun with the most power, not sure how that will effect people joining or close racing.
