Season 21 has crept up on us quite quickly so it's time to start the traditional chassis allocation arguments again.

The Novices Trophy will again use a chassis allocation style handicap, and drivers will be allocated a chassis group which will be used to determine the chassis they drive for the season. Once they have picked a chassis from the available groups they must use it for the entire season unless the moderator has permitted or requested a change.

Yet again the Drivers Championship went down to the wire last season and was decided at the last race, so believe me when I say that I do keep an eye on it throughout the season, and people in a chassis that is too fast or too slow for them will be reviewed as the season progresses, particularly this season as we have some new faces in the division.

Like last season the chassis will be split into groups 1 to 4 as below:

GROUP 1
Lotus, Ferrari, BRM, Honda

GROUP 2
BT11

GROUP 3
Cooper

GROUP 4
BT7

The cars in Group 1 are generally faster than the others, though each of them has different strengths and suit different circuit styles, over the season they will be the best chassis.

Each driver will also be seeded and will be given a seed of either 1, 2, 3 or 4 which means that they may take any car in that seeding group, or any car below it but not above it.

i.e. If you are seeded 2 you may take any car in group 2, 3 or 4 but not 1. If you are seeded 3 you may take either the Cooper or the BT7 but nothing faster. If you are seeded 1 you may take any chassis you prefer.

The chassis that you start Race 1 with will be considered your choice for the season unless the moderator permits or requests otherwise.

Feel free to discuss the chassis allocations in this thread, but if anybody feels that they, or somebody else, has been seeded incorrectly then contact me by PM or post below.

Just want to say that I'm still of the opinion that BT11 > Honda (and also BRM and Ferrari at slower tracks). I hope this is taken into consideration in Pros, if not here.

I've only used the BT11 once (recent Vallelunga test race) and found it to be the best car I've ever driven but that COULD have been the setup I downloaded Cheesy
In any case, this weekends Spec race should prove its abilities one way or the other Smiley

I'm of a similar opinion, I prefer it to the Honda at most tracks, but over 10 races and the different circuits, most Novices don't tend to extract the extra performance from it, though they are free to use it if they like and are in group 1.

Right, but my point was the Honda should probably switch places with BT11 for a Group 2 car. Hope it's considered for the future. It's just the easy-handling nature of the car that I think makes a lot better for Novices to go quicker with than with the Honda or BRM, except on tracks like Monza.

Blito, I guarantee you it's not the setup, it's the car!  Grin

I've updated the list above with the late arrivals, and as Tim has said, if all drivers turn up, the 19 full time drivers will take the grid slots and the reserves will not be able to race.

If a Full Time drivers arrives late (after 30 minutes remaining) then they may find the grid is full and they are unable to race.

If some decided to move up to Pros it would ensure that everybody is able to drive which will keep everyone happy but nobody will be forced to move up if they don't want to.
