Pactice server schedule:

Because of other events taking place this bank holiday weekend, there will be limited time on the practice server for this event. I plan to start the server Sunday evening after our SGT event and will run until the start of our GTL event 18:00 Monday evening. The practice server will then run as normal from the end of the GTL race around 22:00 Monday. If you haven't practised yet, you really ought to  laugh

If you wish to join this race, please choose an available car after reading the following post......

I won't be able to make this race...so if anyone wants to try a different car or if anyone new wants to race, the Minardi (Martini) car will be available.

I know i'm blaspheming but wit hthe cars being quite sensitve to damage and especially round Monaco where the slightest knock is going to have quite large consequences for everyone on track as there is no room for error, could we reduce the damage considerably or even turn it off ninja? This will also help to allow people to carry on and try and finish. Think of this as an iR reset!

So what lap times should I be aiing for here?

I've thought long and hard about damage levels and appreciate that it is very difficult to keep it clean in these cars, especially on a street circuit. We already run this series at 50% damage which seems to be enough to get away with light contact and avoid us losing wings etc as easily as we otherwise might. For instance, in my testing I've found that I'm able to get away with brushing the barrier. I'd be reluctant to lower it any further for this race as surely that is all part of the challenge of Monaco.

Well I'm getting into the 1:22s in the Benetton after my usual couple of hundreds of laps pracci. You might want to check out the times at the bude (which are presumably with very light fuel loads) if you really want something to aim at  Shocked

I turned only today at 1.30 AM, and I was slightly "alcoholic" to drive the F1 88 in this extremely difficult circuit.

I spent quite half an hour to finish the warm up lap  Grin Grin Grin But when I recovered a bit my driving capabilities, I was really close to the high 1.22... I stopped at 1.23.2, but I managed to do only 7 laps in raw before destroying the Coloni... So the challenge in this track will be see the checkered flag  Grin Grin

See you later for the race! Bye bye!

Good to have you with us Purdie  Cool

Both March cars are free, but the single Coloni is taken. Pier Luigi Martini's Minardi is also free for this event.

So the challenge in this track will be see the checkered flag  Grin Grin

Indeed.

Try to get to the end of the race and not the front of the field.  Grin

I have had one proper on line race at Monaco in the past, GT500 with a full grid and standing start. One person made a mistake into turn 1 and at least 10 cars (including me) had to park and wait for the cars to un jam them selfs. Many cars crashed during the 1 hour race and it was all about trying to stay incident free.

It was excellent fun and a real challenge, I must say.

Be extra careful out there tonight and try not to block the track completely at any point. Grin

A few laps against the AI can be a help here I believe.

Shame that... really enjoyed practicing for that!
Unfortunately a turn one crash on lap 2 could not be avoided and that was that... shame!

Well that was gutting. For whatever reason, on multiplayer, the led screen showing what gear I had selected was missing  Huh. Nevertheless that was a minor problem. Another set back was when we started the race, I found the engine health given on xd was at 1%! I wasn't sure I could quit and rejoin so decided not to risk it and see how far I could manage. On lap two, thanks for my draw distance set on low, I was completely unsighted at the lap 2 crash at St Devote and ploughed into the mess. My car was in an awful shape, but decided to pit rather than quit. Then I found that the GTR2 auto pit feature was on despite me being pretty certain I turned it off. As a result of this I found Truetom in the pit space I required so needed to sit tight and watch.

Finally I could get my car repaired but it took over a minute and as a result found myself a lap down on everyone. Nevertheless, I was determined to finish the race and get my money's worth  Smiley. I lapped steadily to lap 7, until the engine burst into flames. Well that was predictable, especially with a 1% health reading I suppose. I'm praying I'll finish at the next one. I really am  Undecided.

Was sitting behind 3 cars keeping a safe distance for a couple of laps waiting for one of them to pass, and got rammed up the chuff into T1
went to pit with a missing wing and front left wheel and they didnt replace the wheel and or suspension, so went round again on 3
realised I'd set no tyre change on the 3rd attempt and still no replace, ticked everyting I could, tried again
had passed Purdie in the pits by now so gave in. there was a red X against the left front in the
pit clipboard, I guess it was too badly damaged or something.

wow this mod is mega on gtr2, played alot of the rf version

good quali and first run on softs with light fuel made the car feel like it was on rails  Smiley and i set a time early that i couldn't better

Navin and I pulled away from the pack, the running was quite steady and i made the odd harmless mistake but generally kept consistent.... then about 12 laps in i made a small error which was a was a 2min pit stop to repair  Embarrassed and i went out again and damaged the whole lot again and decided to watch.... great drive Navin and goldtop... (and all runners !!!!!)

you will killing me on the entry to the swimming pool chicane Navin  Smiley..... my car was murder over those kerbs

can't wait for the next round but fear the March might be out of its depth elsewhere, except maybe other city road-courses. Not sure what Mexico City is like  Roll Eyes fingers crossed!  Tongue
