Porsche 908-03 Download this

GROUP P2.0

Healey Repco XR37 Download this

McLaren M1A Download this

Chevron B16 Download this Note: This is a revised version which has improved sound and some other improvements. Also the Mazda powered car has been removed.

Drivers are reminded that the maximum number of drives in any group is five.

Time of Day Setting: 16:00
Start: STANDING
Tyre wear: Normal
Fuel consumption: Normal

Server: simracing.org.uk WPC
Password: see above

Notes:
(1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage.
(2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules.
(3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read
Autopit="0"
Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off
No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car
If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable.
(4) Driver lists can be found on the Championship standings page

Special Notes: Some of the cars have a "Modern Compound" tyre choice. Can I ask that all drivers do not use these tyres please.

Probably I can join this one. I know Valencia street a bit, and I guess it will be a tough race for the old prototypes. Hope to see you later Smiley

Dang!"!" Lost my $£%*&%$ connection again and was having a smashing race against Alex. That circuit really grew on me as the race went on. Should be a blast in an Alfa next week  Smiley

Even before we go to Le Mans we have a champion. Congratulations to Pelle_B who wins the overall championship  I Am Not Worthy I Am Not Worthy I Am Not Worthy

However there's a lot more to be fought over in the individual championships.

ARGH NRJ & Tony  :'( ...but big Thanks, a little shame Tony, you could have kept the tension in the series a little longer with good points in this race.

Grats to Manteos, Hristo & Geoffers...the 908 was faster than I had expected  Cheesy
...& big Thx to Matt, who helped me over the finish line (I ran out of fuel)  Shocked ...perhaps it is not legal & I shall be reduced in points (You can give me a 0 today...& we hold tension a little longer)  angel
A huge thank you to Team GTLDK....no one can touch us in the Team Championship  thumbup2

Jumped on the server at 9 o' clock (GMT + 1 Grin), and without a real knowledge about the real value of these cars, I immediately choose the Porsche, but the wrong one (908-2). It was horrible to drive, and I wasn' t able to complete a single lap in it without mistakes. Than I noticed that Geoffers was doing some great laptimes with the other Porsche (908-3), and I opted for that one... love at first sight! Easy to drive, and even a lot faster!
I had only the chance to train during qualif, so I put 30 litres in the tank, and did 8 laps in row, managing to improve my laptimes lap after lap. Unfortunately Hristo "stole" my pole at the last second of the qualif. session with only an attempt, minimizing my "great" laptime...  Dang! It seemed a blow behind the neck for me:D

The race started, and I had a great start with my manual clutch, taking immediately the lead. Hristo was surely faster, but he was not so costant in his pace during the first laps, doing some mistakes occasionally.
When I saw his car spun in my (virtual) mirror, I tried to escape by the group, and I was succesful. I firmly defended my 8 seconds of advantage by the start to the end, but at lap 9 or 10, the xd motec did me a bad joke, ceasing to detect the gap between me and the followers. It's not the first time it happens to me with GTL... strange thing.
However, I have been able to better focus on my pace, without doing great mistakes... actually only a couple of small entity.
Luckily, during all the race, I didn't see Hristo coming back in my mirror, so I was more comfortable in this situation. Soft tyres were almost new, and even at the end of the race I could keep a good pace, without allowing Hristo to gain more than 2 seconds on me.
We finished the race with a gap of about 6 seconds, and I was able to celebrate my first victory in a race with GT Legends punk punk punk

I hope it won't be the last  Grin Grin

Grats to Hristo and Geoffers for the pody, and all the other drivers who joined the event Smiley. Grats to Pelle for the Championship! I wanted to join more races with GTL, but Mondays are usually busy for me, cause I usually have a football match, so I can join it only occasionally, but I'm getting better, and most important, I always enjoy in a Sim race Wink
I guess I will race again with GTL only in 2012, cause I'm busy for the other dates til the end of the year, and I'm going to ski by the 29th of Dec. to the 5th of Jan... admitting there will be some snow Huh

Cu soon Smiley

I had forgotten how horrible the M1A is, and even more evil with worn tyres, but I percevered and managed to finish with lots of dents.
Very much the wrong car, it was much less competitive than I expected, and got lapped 3 times....
ah well, I can use anything I want at Le Mans if I can make it.

Yeh, one of the nicest of the prototypes to drive. I've messed around with the setup a bit & probably not improved it much from the default setup. Only problem I have with it is losing the rear if I turn-in too sharply, spun 3 or 4 times early in the race, but it seemed a bit better later in the race. Either I got used to it or the fuel load made a difference.

Didn't like the track too much though, no matter how many times I went round it always seemed difficult to remember where you were & what corner came next!  Huh Must be my age!  Cheesy

Congrats to Manteos & Hristo, great driving both.  clap clap

I opted for the Haley initially because it drives much smoother and predictable than the terrible Porsches (both of them!), but as it turns out, it was simply not powerful enough, so I switched to the 03 as Geoffers and Manteos. I had about 5 minutes to make a setup and go out for a single run, so I just guessed out the setup and did one flying lap. The practice in the Haley paid off and although the lap wasn't perfect, I managed to get pole.

I changed to hard tires for the race, thinking everyone else is going to do so as well, but as I suspected Manteos stayed on softs and that decided the outcome of the race. Of course he was much more consistent as well, while I was making mistakes each 2nd lap and had a couple of spins, but it was partially due to the fact that I had to push very hard to keep up on hard tires against his softs.

I still believed I had some chance to catch up, because as the race progressed I become more comfortable with the way I had to handle the car, but the gap was too big and there was not enough time, plus even the hard tires were giving away after all the abuse early on. IMO these cars have terrible tire model, handling very unnaturally, but it was a challenging and exciting race. I just wish I would make a decent start at least once, lol.

Grats to Manteos for the well deserved victory and all others who managed to finish.

well that didnt go well, got a great start only to get punted off at turn 1!  censored censored

Then I had to carry on at the back and eventually crashed it.

Had a few problems trying to get the steering wheel rotation ingame to try and match my g27 turning cicle, I had to turn it soo much more on straights just in keep in a line! :O

Check your ingame settings, particularly your deadcenter setting. To large and you will be constantly correcting the steering just to stay in a straight line.

Join us next MOnday when we race the Alfa's etc. It should be an altogether easier affair

I had a sound malfunction during last night's race. The sound would be fine then stutter then disappear altogether. This did not make for an easy race. As hard as I tried I could not overtake Alex but it was tremendous fun chasing him.
