Tomorrows meant to be HOT! Title: Re: UKAC Season 8 Season 8 - British GT3 Series - Donington Park - May 6 Post by: Mark J on May 05, 2018, 12:50:20 PM +0100 It will be interesting to see if I end up racing in the fog for this one ;D Tomorrows meant to be HOT! I don't know how you wear the rift for 50 mins in the heat ??? My head felt like it was being boiled in the winter for 40 min races :o Title: Re: UKAC Season 8 Season 8 - British GT3 Series - Donington Park - May 6 Post by: Jeffrey on May 06, 2018, 09:42:14 PM +0100 Calculated the fuel for an hour long race so I ended up with way too much fuel and the wrong strategy. I would have gone for my Brands strategy if I didn't forget the format :P
Title: Re: UKAC Season 8 Season 8 - British GT3 Series - Donington Park - May 6 Post by: Mark J on May 06, 2018, 10:22:45 PM +0100 Well that didn’t got to plan :( I was eyeing up sharks 5th place in the table needing only 10pts to get even but a had a mare in qually and race.
Can’t remember the last time I had 3 spins in a race ::) (and I span at castle Combe on Wednesday for real ...a full 360 :o :-[ ) My fezza didn’t like that apex kerb at Coppice and twice if had me around, both times dropping 12 seconds :( then after fighting my way back to 6th I got a huge oversteer at craners and went off on the grass to let Pete back through. It also inspired Spanner to attack me (fresh tyres?) as my car got more of a handful on my worn boots. He chased me hard and eventually stuck his nose inside at Coppice touring car style but it punted me off and think he must have spun? Finished 8th, one to forget. I was totally cooked from being at Brands in the heat all afternoon, so it was a struggle to keep focused. Shame to not be battling up front again though :( Title: Re: UKAC Season 8 Season 8 - British GT3 Series - Donington Park - May 6 Post by: SRW on May 07, 2018, 10:28:25 AM +0100 Well thats the end of our British GT3 series! thanks for taking part everyone
1st Jeffrey - race winner, fast and consistent and rarely off the podium. 2nd nfsw55 - another race winner with plenty of podiums 3rd Felix - Multiple race winner, but suffered from DNS/DNF Maybe one day when my kids have grown up and I have more time to practice I will be able to get a bit closer to you guys! It has been good to see Sunday nights getting busy again, we have been getting double figures for all the AC races, and the R3E series although not as popular has seen more people showing up and the final round is still to come next week at Macau!. We will have some fun races over the next few weeks while I finalise the details for the AC V8 supercars series (I have got most of the track selection sorted and tested offline, I now need to check that they are suitable for use on the server) Title: Re: UKAC Season 8 Season 8 - British GT3 Series - Donington Park - May 6 Post by: Wiltshire Tony on May 07, 2018, 11:40:33 AM +0100 Grats to you Stephen for producing great racing series. I know how much work is involved behind the scenes. Well done and long may it continue.

Shame I missed a couple, well done Stephan :) Title: Re: UKAC Season 8 Season 8 - British GT3 Series - Donington Park - May 6 Post by: nfsw55 on May 07, 2018, 09:39:51 PM +0100 Wow, that was an intense last race :o
Before the race I looked at the championship table to see on which position I should finish to still have a realistic chance for P1. Winnig the last race was quite illusionary, so I hoped for P2 and P5 for Jeffrey :P The first few laps were proper close racing, P2 till P5 covered by just a few seconds. After a little contact in the chicane I lost one place, but quickly got back up to speed and had a nice battle with FMG. Shortly before the pit window opened I got by and tried to chase down the guys in front again. But all my championship hopes were destroyed when I entered the pitlane and hit an invisible wall which spun me around >:( I lost a bunch of time trying to reverse the car and I was quite frustrated :cursing: After that I pushed like hell but P3 was the maximum. Sorry to Alfrance for the rough overtaking in the last lap, I saw the gap and just went for it :-\ In the end just four points were missing for my first championship win here at srouk, those "lost" points from Spa really hurt now... But congrats to Jeff for winning the series, it was always lots of fun to race with all of you. And of course a big thanks to SRW for organizing all this, I really liked the race format and I was surprised how much fun the british tracks (especially Snetterton and Oulton Park) are. Title: Re: UKAC Season 8 Season 8 - British GT3 Series - Donington Park - May 6 Post by: Alfrance on May 12, 2018, 06:19:22 PM +0100 This last race was very funny as well!
After the pit, for some lap, I also hoped to get the P1, but Felix was really too fast for me! ... We had 2/3 laps with very intensive bagarre, at the end he overtook me and disappeared in the distance, so I was reached and passed by FMG as well. Finally the last lap, hoping to get at least the podium, in the second to last 180 degree turn I was overtook a bit rudely by nfsw55 ... I tried to counterattack in the last turn but I bumped him and spinned around so I also lost P4 :( Congratulations to Jeffrey for the champ win and THANK YOU!! ... to the organizers for the very nice championship ... and all pilots for attending it. See you soon on track! Alberto |
