If you thought Zolder was bumpy, wait till you try this track.

Yeah, awkward track this with a nice long straight and some long radius corners good for overheating your tires.

i havent raced at Anderstorp since our fully packed grids of early GTL & GTR2 days I remember countless good races there and the slightly banked last section. I also remember the long straight with a good passing opportunity at the end of it! Re, bumps, its worth exploring the track to avoid them. I found by taking different lines at Zolder i could avoid some of the nastier ones and not lose any time. Some footage:- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U_llwCa4Wr8

I quite dislike this layout, and this version looks a bit like MineCraft racing to me. I should do figuration though.

Not an easy circuit to get the hang of, though, i'm finding

know what you mean Les, its a tricky track to get any flow with unlike Zolder. Also, The bumps are less severe in size but more intense in vibration, must be the cold climate effect on the tarmac I actually had to turn down my ffb as my wheel was taking a pounding. Although nostalgic for the track I preferred racing GT cars here, it feels point and squirt between tight corners a bit for the middle and last sectors in a hairy f1 car.

Got enough ride height/clearance Fabri? I’m running fairly soft front springs with a bit more ARB to stiffen the front but still absorb the bumps. Not had any jumping, just vibration in the curved banked corners (which I think is deliberate to replicate the rough surface concrete used)

These enormous bumps and two broken wrists don't endear me to this track.

These enormous bumps and two broken wrists don't endear me to this track. Decrease bump stiffness, raise the suspension, soften springs. The tire pressures can also be reduced slightly for a better ride at the expense of handling. Alas we dont have fast bump & rebound dampers on these old F1 cars (oddly!) as they would help with an oscillating surface. Try experimenting with lowering or increasing the dampers, they may be all encompassing and solve or help over the ripples. But if easy to do for your setup, i would decrease your wheel FFB by 5-10, i did and will just put it back up after this event. ps Bob, after a couple of weeks of using the Rift-S i would say its a big step up from the cv1. Graphically its much much better and more importantly, its taken away the constant eye strain i suffered and is a lot more comfortable to wear on your head for long periods. It also fits over glasses much better.

Setup is soft and high to deal with the bumps - although some you're better off just avoiding. It's a shame the track's been converted without anyone bothering to fix the road mesh as graphically it's not actually that bad - some of my camera sets look really good here. (just watch the footage of Ronnie drifting all of the banked curves - the track should be normal race-track smooth - even the Yellow Bird that I was playing with yesterday was really struggling to drift the bumpier banked stuff)
As for the race, I might not actually make it as I have a funeral to go to tomorrow - depending on how alcoholic the wake becomes I might not be suitable to join in...
I have a rough race setup ready, and if I don't get time to improve it then you lot may be able to get some revenge..

i agree graphically it looks good, especially in the Rift, i can almost touch the grass blades on the apexs's of some of the turns! I think our friendly Siberian Alex was good at editing these tracks to fix track mesh's, maybe you can add it to your tweaking skills Tim Out of interest do you use the yellowbird as a training tool for these f1 cars? Can see the relation with its handling skills required. Sorry to hear you have a funeral to attend. I did a few more laps last night and slightly improved but have to admit this track has been my least favourite to practise on so far this season. It will be a tough 45mins race as i havent found any rhythm here, just clatter from one corner to the next!
