Didn't have high expectations for these races, as the first round in the series weren't exactly a smashing success for me.
Surprisingly I ended up in the best position I can hope for with Goldtop present, in both races, so naturally chuffed about that.
In the first race, I gradually worked my way to 3rd place, mostly from others falling off at various places. Had Postal in front in 2nd, and he was slowly edging away. For once luck smiled on old Wile E though, as I suddenly saw Postal in a dustcloud at T2, as I came out of T1. Thus found myself 2nd roughly halfways through the race. No chance at catching Goldtop, who was so far ahead that it borders on ridiculous, so focus was to hang onto 2nd. Postal was reeling me in again, but not at a rate to cause anxiety attacks, although he was getting close as the race finished.
Bad qualify for race 2, as I was nowhere near my offline pb. Managed to go around the phone-startled, stationary Roger (mental note: get hold of his phone # and initiate call exactly at future race starts..
). Next narrowly avoided a spun Postal at the start of the long straight and found myself in 3rd. (Very) soon passed by Goldtop in his blast to the front. Later passed Tony who had fallen of. Then followed a long, intense chase of Evert. Very slowly inched closer, matching my pb in the process. Late in the race, I sailed into 2nd when he overshot at the end of the long straight, and I managed to hold that position to the finish.
Again had to scrape jaw off tarmac over Goldtop's speed. What's your secret mate - are you a setup wizard, do you have extra high midichlorian count or super professional gear, or is it just the rest of us numbnuts who're a bunch of snails ?
Sorry to see Bill absent for yet another race. Do hope you get the problems sorted soon.
Cheers,
Erling
