You can run Linux from a USB key (Ubuntu). That would be a way to go and it makes an old PC quite sprightly. You can use WINE to get windows emulation for Win based games.
I know several people run GPL under Linux that way.
BTW XP will go on fine. It is just that if you get issues no one will help officially.

I was quite enjoying that until my wife turned the screen off on lap 3 just as I was entering the tricky drop. Was shaping up to be quite a battle with Rob, but 'C'est la vie'.
Thanks for the racing, such as it was.

Too many unforced errors plus a couple trying to keep out of the way. Equalled my PB in practice, set new PBs in qualifying and race. Eventually had a big head on hit onto the end of a length of ARMCO wrecking the engine. Early bath again, as BadBlood wrote 'C'est la vie'.

Grats to Ross for win Grats to Tony on 1st in The Fifties Really enjoyed this race, great choice of track Tony, with a few tweaks the dbr2 was a good drive and got me in the 2.21s,plus with XD got the fuel right and could follow other drivers positions.

Congrats Tony, just reward for all the time you put into GTL for all of us. Minor point you didn't include, in above post, the Team Prize which went to the Kerbies. Looking forward to Season 14, commencing 6th January 2014.

and above all- second championship in a row for Tony in the 50's series . Congratulations!!! Well done. And many thanks again for all your efforts in organising and trouble-shooting. Fortunate vice-championship for me only due to GT's bad luck concerning hard- and software and Robert's mistake during last lap . I definitely will miss the Fifties next year. RememberÃng when the Fifties series started last year, I wasn't exited at all but very quickly I realized that these cars are the real thing in GTL and had a lot of fun.

Thank you for the nice words guys It looks like next years F1 schedule will be reduced down from 22 to 19 races (confirmation should be December 6th) so we may be able to squeeze a short Fifties series in. Perhaps Enduro stylee. Shout for your favourite track please

Congratulations Tony on the Driver's Championship and thanks for all the hard work put into organising this. Some great racing this series with demanding cars on some challenging tracks.

Thanks for the hints! Never heard about WINE - would be interesting to try GTL/GTR2 running under Linux

If you have any problems drop me a line. Helps to have a meaty PC. WINE simply emulates a Windows environment. Older games like GPL on't really stretch the PC so run well as I would expect GTL to do but don't expect to be running Assassins Creed IV or whatever.
