Having decided to prepare for the final race (after totaly blowing Enna) I practiced some today. My current time is 1.48.399 with a slightly modified Simbin's "fast" setup.

Telemetry and setup provided here (http://www.clex-polska.pl/estoril.zip)

Waiting for your feedback with tips how to shave 1-2 seconds off.

If you wander how "aliens" drive through Estoril take a look at Greger Huttu's flying lap in Viper GT.

video here (http://www.clex-polska.pl/GH-Estoril.avi)

Thank to guys from my home league prs.simracing.pl for compiling this video and Gregger for submitting his replays and Motec data. If you are interested with other tracks, please visit the site and download your flavour :D

I think the difference in driving in not as critical as it is that he's carrying high speed through the corners where others slow down (too much). Saw he drives some slow corners in 3rd while I do it in 2nd. Maybe that doesn't mean much 'cause you can change the gears and all, but anyway. The driving line seems much the same to me, maybe just that he turns in really rapidly, not allowing the front to slide any. But mostly I guess it just means driving siuts him better than it does us (me).  ;)

TT

Huttu cheats the physics. He does lot's of throttle/braking at the same time, and his setups are extreme. Doing that in reallife will last nowhere. He is good, but in his own way. :-X

He's an alien - in his own way :D

Btw. check my final qualification setup (http://www.clex-polska.pl/estoril2.zip)

A less skilled driver like myself is able to do 1.47.8xx so Ruskus, Jon and Matjaz will at least shave 2s off :D

Setup gives a balanced and veeery forgiving car. It is designed to last in-lap and one flying lap.

Great thanks! Will try the tomorrow before the race and report. It will be difficult to get back to GTR1 after driving GTR2 ;D

I just drove a test 40min race with a setup based on the qualification one provided above and it was great. Med-med all the way allowed me to score some 1.48.1xx during the race and the car was just too easy to drive. Just a guess that you and Mat will judge the setup as too "gentle" :D

Great setup Pedro. Though I can't reach your time, I expect to have a good race.

Yeh great time Pedro :o GTRank record for Elise stands at 1-47-4 so that's pretty fast mate. Got a feeling Matjaz will whip a 1-46 out and slap us all around with it for a while :D Looking forward to the race as the Elise doesn't spin as much here as the GT cars so should be a corker 8)

Good race guys - sorry if i got in the way, but i had a puncture mid way through the race, and way limping back to pits with the rev limiter on.
I think i owe an apology to Greg and some of the other frontrunners for getting in your way - sorry guys :-\

Boooooooooooooooooooooooooooooring.

Jon and pedro were infront of me and driving away. and I was driving away from the guy behind, so I was all alone for 40 minutes.

Dumb track, stupid race.

End. ;D

Grats Jon on the win of the race and championship

Dumb track, stupid race.

 ;D

I had quite a fun race early on - was up as high as sixth when my pedal cable decided to disconnect itself. Had a few good battles with lots of the dark blue cars. Made a couple of stupid mistakes which ensured I didn't finish any higher, but I had a lot of fun.

I enjoyed the race. Not much passing between me and Pedro but the chase was great. I seemed to be about 0.1 quicker a lap and made a few minor mistakes which put me a few seconds down but then there was the chase ;D I ended up with 7 rear wing which seemed to help at the end of the race as the car just got better and better as it got lighter. Pedro seemed to struggle a little towards the end which was lucky for me cus I don't think I could've passed him had he not gone onto the grass. Anyway great race all.see ya'll at the next 'un 8)

Got caught up in Big G spin on first lap coming out of the chicane and that dropped me backed from Ruskus then had a great battle with Big G for the 4th place nice one mate. Had too much rear wing , was running 10 .

Have to apologize to Grinsomat for punting him. Let him pass me back but that's not the same.  :(
I had another contact that was my fault - pressed brake too quick and the car was sliding. Don't realy know who it was, will look at replay.  :(

On the other hand I had been punted at least twice, quite unnecessary I think. I must say the quality of the racing was good but closer battles resulted in many contacts so I have the impression that the racers were more careful in Endurance, even in Sprints, than here.

Good race anyway, especialy with Greg, Grinsomat (while it lasted  :-\ ) and Pablo at the last quarter of the race.

Grats to Jon  :smartass: and thanks to Pedro for setup.

It could have been my first UKGTR victory if there was no JonM on track :D Congratulations pal for winning the race and the series!

Happily I managed to start quite well and overtook Jon at T1. I was sure he would attack that on the inside so I went wide - apparently without a necessity. First few laps I managed to get away from chase but as mentioned earlier - Jon was 0.1s quicker by lap and even though he went off twice he managed to catch me up and eventually overtake (not without my generous help :D). I guess if it was not my mistake we could have battled until the race end.

Jon it was true that my wing at 5 gave me some problems for the the last 7-8 laps, as my tires seemed to deteriorate much quicker than during my solo practice. Adjusting the brake bias between the corners didn't help :D After two stupid mistakes I gave up the chase and finished second. At least best lap of the race is mine :D

Congratulations to all you gentelmen. See you soon in GTR2!

P3 in Qually was my best ever, so happy there.
Race, Got a good start and held P3 into T1, very concouis of not taking out the leaders, or leaving a gap for Ruskus to get by. But was holding my own until the chicane on L1. Yep to much right foot and around she went, a total 360. Ruskus just got by but Dan had no where to go, sorry mate. The Greg got past me and Dan, so I dropped to P7 by the end of lap 1.

On the next lap Dan got past Greg and I followed, so P6. Then the next lap I got a run on Dan and got past, Andy went off at T1 so I was now upto P4 again. I was then slowly pulling away from Dan when the next silly mistake was mafde by me going into T4 and I spun, so Dan was past again. At this point

I think I was some 5-6 sec down on him and and to chase very hard to catch him. It took some 7-8 laps before I got near him. Then another stupid mistake and I was again looking at a 2-3 sec gap to Dan. God I was getting really pissed at myself by this point. So I was chasing him again. Dan you def needed less wing mate! I caught him again and this time I got past him going into T1, ok, I think, no more mistakes, but this time I take it too easy and Dan did a good move into T4 and once more I was P5!

I followed him around to the straight and again blast past him. This time I did start to pull away, but by now the leaders where some 20 secs down the road, so I just concentrated as hard a poss to keep ahead of Dan till the end.

Cheers Dan for the interesting race. If it was not for the speed diff on the straight I might not have caught you. Well done the top 3.

Congrates to Jon on the championship. I do hope MJ does not make the last race, cause then I might get 3rd in the Championship! Dream on!

I think I was too early with my congrats to Jon's champ victory. if he doesn't score and I win, I can still win it ;D.
So you need to perform Jon, you gotta, never losen up.... :P. Did that give you any pressure  ;)

Np, Greg, I'm talking about the contacts, that could (should  ;) ) be avoided. Close racing produces various situations. I guess it might be a different discussion if we wouldn't be able to post just after the race, but the next day. Would be far less heat, I think, as we tend to remember the good stuff.  :)

TT

not a problem to me, as the Elise isn`t my favorite car and I didn`T have a lot of practice before the race ( bout 20 mins )
I had some nice battles out there, a very good one with TT, sadly the contact ruined my race as I had to pit in and after that contact the car was undriveable. Pitting in didn`t help much !
But like I said, no prob for me as I wasn`T even thinking after qualifying 14th beeing anywhere near the top 5 !
Was good fun, but  Iam really looking forward to the Spa race on 24th !
Real cars........lol

Team Shark's financial director, Barry 'Stingray' Tightarse, says we can't fund another Team Shark Elise, so my hands are tied I'm afraid.

Your both faster drivers than me so you don't need me to drive anyway.

Best of luck on the team title, I'm confident you can get it next week in California.

We just need someone to block the pack behind us preferable spinning a lot and causing some major pileups. I think you would fit perfectly for that job instead of Ruskus who had to do this "dirty" task at Estoril  :P :P :P
