After much trawling of the Internet I finally got a G25 setting that gives me somewhere near what I expect and at least allow me to drive in a straight line.

I'm using the Preset 6 G25 setup with the ff set to 6

In Logitech profiler I have made the following:
Degree of rotation  650

Overall Effect  100%
Spring Effect  0%
Damper effect 0%
Centreing 20%

I have unchecked the "allow game to make changes"

I'll probably tweak it a little more cos I think the overall is a little fierce for me so I might lower it to 80%

As I said I'll play with it a little more.

Let me know if anyone else gets a good result. Steering's always a bit subjective but as I said at least I can keep the thing going straight

Has anyone tried the Real Mod 2.0 for Shift? It supposedely fixes the handling so it feels like driving a car rather than the bizarre concoction they have created as standard.

Yeah im using the latest version of real mod along with MigF1s G25 profile and the results are a superb racing experience.
The physics are a hell of a lot better than GTR2,rfactor and fall short of iracing imo.
With the mods i mentioned above theres no more silly moments of "wtf why did it oversteer so agressively then?"
Im having fun with it and thats all that matter to me Smiley

My current shift feels so much different to the vanilla shift, its really got to be tried to be believed.

I tried for hours and hours to get something that felt right, but couldn't get there and gave up. It was frustrating because once you got rid of the input lag that they have specifically added to the controller settings (WHY?!) I could suddenly feel potential.

Ultimately it just didn't feel like driving a car though and there's a limit to the amount of fiddling I was prepared to do to get a feeling that could be available out of the box before conceding defeat.

Cor you guys don't half make it difficult for a chap to decide....can't you all just agree for me!? Smiley

I can't believe the physics are more realistic than GTR2, I hope you're right I really do but in any case, it's a bold enough statement that I'm now curious about this one!

Going to have to get that demo on the go...just the real mod and MigF1 profile needed then Damien?

Im not sure if the mods work with the demo but yes all you need is real mod 2.0b and MiG F1s profile [its on no grip forums]
For mods to work you have to unpack the game in full hence why im not sure how modding works with the demo.

RE: GTR2 , gtr2 is an old physics engine at this stage.
Dont be surprised to hear shifts are improved, after all ian bell of GTR fame along with Doug Arnao of GPL fame are responsible for the physics.
Its not just my opinion but also of those on race department.com,no grip and rsc forums BUT you do need real mod etc for the full experience.

Im using a few other mods too, no bling mod that gets rid of flying balloons and other bling trackside visuals.
Im also using the AI overhaul mod, makes a massive difference to ai.

Excellent Damien, you're making a convincing case - just gonna order it, need something to play when the mates come round anyway. Otherwise I'll end up having conversations 'n' stuff.

Thanks for the info on the mods - might leave the flying balloons in though, being an Arsenal fan I've become a big fan of them of late...  Grin

For me its good fun as im not into full on serious simracing at all these days.
iracing got too serious for my liking and to some extent turned me off full on simracing.
