Grats to the podiums and class winners, there were some fast times posted in all classes!!
For a while there in the 2nd race Paul, I thought that you were doing a first class job in slowing down those Cooper S's and giving me a glimmer of hope in my Anglia lol. Not that I expected you to resort to Stock Car tactics
!!
As Dan said on the grid, the Anglebox needs a few more horses under the bonnet to truly compete with the 1275 Minis, but no complaints because in this season format, we all have to drive both cars, so it should even out.
I am going to stick my neck out here and say "I might finally have cracked the technique for driving those 'orrible front wheel drive boxes!". Race ! was huge fun although I needed all the extra grunt in the 1275 to compete with Mini Ace Geoffers in his 970!! Matt was consistently 3-4 tenths a lap faster than I could muster, but at least I kept him in sight
. Fulvio appeared to have taken over my hatred of the Mini after his tyre smoking spin that allowed Geoffers and myself to get past.
I did think that Geoffers was again absolutely spot on when he said after Race 2, "maybe it was a mistake going from a 970 Mini to a Mustang?!" I find that the change in technique from front wheel drive to rear wheel drive and back again requires some serious eye/hand/foot co-ordination and concentration before my 5 active little neurons get the message. After driving the Cooper S in Race 1, it took me half of Race 2 to finally hook up a sub 1:53 lap in the Anglia.
Dan was tantalisingly close in the 2nd half of the race but I suspect that he was "managing" the gap and had pace in hand should my Anglia have the bad manners to challenge the Mini.
I keep saying it, but the 60's saloons are giving me some great evenings. Thanks again Tony.
