Title: UKGPL Season 34 (2019) 1967 F1 Works - Nürburgring - Feb 24

Season 34 WORKS – Round 4 –  Nurburgring

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT Due to the number of registrations for this series we will be splitting into two grids for the rest of the sesaon. All drivers have been allocated to either Works or Privateers. If you don’t know check the link for Driver Lists below. If you have not already voted to join the Privateers championship you will need to do so to see the password. Privateers will use the server UKGPL10 & Works UKGPL4.

The Nordschleife has enjoyed a reputation as a terrifying and merciless route through the Eifel forest. An English journalist who visited the Nordschleife during the opening race on 18 June 1927 concluded “that it seemed as if a reeling, drunken giant had been sent out to determine the route”. The Formula 1 driver Jackie Stewart – a three-time world champion in 1969, 1971 and 1973 – was so impressed by the circuit that he gave it the name it will probably never lose: the Green Hell (Grüne Hölle). Racing and winning on the Nordschleife has always been very special for racing drivers, because the track is one of the most demanding in the world. Tricky corners, treacherous crests, steep inclines and gradients and constantly changing road surfaces demand great skill from the drivers and provides the cars with a very hard test.

Well, a lesson in frustration.. chalk it up to 'fuel pump failure', 'oil pump failure' or whatever retirement type doesn't exist in GPL  .

I was happy to qualify 2nd, split by Pelle and Rob by one second each. Then the router resets on me when I go to do my race warm up lap.

The long length of the Nurburgring lets me get back into the server for the race. I proceed to double upshift 2nd and 3rd to then fall to 4th, which isn't too bad a place to be anyway.

Then a rare occurrence - a spin from Rob! Followed by a spin for Pelle and Tris being caught up; I'm in the lead!

Feeling confident that I can bring it home for the win, the thought enters my mind - please don't disconnect on me.. it happened twice in a row earlier on Hauls2 trying the 67x..

Lo and behold, a few corners later at Schwalbenschwanz..  >:( ::)

Edit: Fibre can't come soon enough  :'( (That or a clean sweep of my systems for spyware!)

Sorry to hear m8, hope it will be fixed  :(

Yes I run Nordschleiffe now with Kellaaa's graphics, and I lost many of my markers. Simply missed my "marker" for Nordkehre and spun. I believe everyone could pass me. Then everybody moved over for me, you don't have to do that, but thanks anyway! Especially nearing Clive was thinking he would be hard to pass, but he let me by as well!   ;D

Closed the gap with Tris, but then he upped his pace and I started to make little mistakes. Also Tris had a great exit up to the straight everytime, and I wasn't close enough. Overall I would lap faster in clean air, but at points Tris had the upper hand, and also great exiting prevented me to get close enough.

In the last laps Tris made a few mistakes, but I didn't want to do a risky move, or wasn't close enough. I also made a mistake in the last lap, and ran out of time to pass Tris, even when coming close.

Grats Tris, great drive and well done Jonny and finishers  ;) Shame Pelle and Iestyn had to retire early on...

Grats Tris, Rob & Jonny  :thumbup2:

Qual:
Perfect & new Honda PB  8)

Race:
:death: ...couldn't get away with only 3 wheels & had to use ESC as fast as I could, but managed to see Tris fly over me :o
@ID, not our day, but here was the mistake my own  >:(
Totally crazy it should end as it did, my setup today was really good.
@Rob: I made the same mistake on Rouen, think track folder was from GPL install.

Think there is an error in uploading replay...which is missing a little  ???

A race that I would rather forget and it would be good if someone could "lose" the replay too!!

Grats to the podium and finishers.

I confess that I was tired after a weekend with my two grandsons and a 100 mile drive home just before the race, but lets face it....my driving was terrible.
In fact it was so bad, that when I realised that I was not going to be a threat to anyone, and would simply go safe and get to 50% distance to collect a couple of points, I could not even do that!! I hit a signpost on a straight section of road that killed the car stone dead  :-\
I did lightly scrape along a fence on lap 1 and I suspect that it did more damage than I thought because the car became dangerous when I lifted off the gas ( it was not too stable on the gas either!!), and that is why I gave Robert a clear pass before I finished both of our races.

Congratulations to Tristan on the victory and Robert for the graceful recovery! :thumbup1:
My race would be quiet to reach the final, but it was impossible because Fulvio kept pushing me throughout the race  :fencing:, we had a good duel and in the end it was a more exciting race than I was planning.

You're welcome!  :)
It was my feeling or you slowed down during the half last lap? If I hadn't spun at T1 of last lap I could have battled with you for third  :'(
Grats for your brave pass on the bump of the long straight  ;D
Ciao

Ahh, yes that makes sense. I also realised I could have tried Kellaa's newest update, I'll have to remember when we come back for oAo.  8)

I believe that you are mistaking controlled lateral slippage for instability...…..  ::)
