This game is highly addictive, drove 90 lap race in silverstone 'till 6AM and I blame you guys for putting me up to this with your enthusiastic posts Was doing steady 1.45s in that black brick lambo, soft front, medium rear, 100L of fuel. Need a good setup, that first corner is a b..ch. Anyone?

Can one of you PC gurus please tell me if antispy/antivirus affect the game performance in GTR2? What about network efficiency? I have Kaspersky antivirus and Teatimer of Spybot running in the beackground the whole time. Sometimes I get stutters and 1 fps bug. Can this be affected by the software running in the background? My connection speed is 2 Mb/s. Or would you recommend to have protection up and running the whole time like I have now? Thanks. TT No Guru here but, I turn all spyware, antivirus and anyother background programmes I don't need off whilst running GTR2, and still get the stutters and something like the 1fps bug So no ideas from me. Are you also on a Pentium machine TT? If you're using SSE, try turning it off (I have radeon 9700pro and AMD CPU, constant stutters both in GTR2 and Forgotten battles. Once I turned off SSE they went away). Simplest way to turn off SSE is (ATI users) via Rage3d Tweak.

Argh, you're killing me Anyway, niiiiiiiice, respectable times, I was doing low 1.40 (Barca) and low 1.37 (Magny) in 100% race distance, 25 laps stints (timing for laps w/o traffic, ah, those precious few clean laps ). No idea on fastest lap possible though, did not go through qual. session, starting from last position is much more fun Your times done in Lambo or that MC12 guided missile? (I'm driving black Lambo exclusively since it's the only car without stickers, cause... well, I hate them ) Anyway, this'll be fun. Might join you guys this weekend, no time beforehand.

Sh** happens. Am glad there's plenty of alfistas over here. Got 4 of them parked outside (OK, inside, as they should be) What do you mean expensive parts for Alfa? They're very cheap over here. Then again, I live 45 minutes away from Italy, so...

SimRacing In General / GTR2 / tyre wear numbers

Right. Tyre wear. Those little numbers for each tyre when you enter the pits... what's the max number before it blisters or explodes or does some other fence-related incident? At first I thought it was 10, but it isn't Don't tell me it's 20 or 30, dammit, this would mean I've changed them for no apparent reason and lost precious time, argh... Must admit I love being a noob, feels like being a 6 year old going "Are we there yet?" every 5 seconds And oh yeah, optimal tyre temperature would be....? I find it (medium slick) optimal on 90-92 degrees celsius, anything above gets back end twitchy. thx

SimRacing In General / GTR2 / Re: Trouble with brakes in GTR2

Brake temps can be seen on that LCD thingie on the steering wheel. And yes, it works. Trouble with 100% brake pressure is that it locks up your wheels fairly easily and it's hard to give it just the right amount of foot. Much easier on 90-92% pressure. Releasing the brake every time you downshift also helps (i.e. you're braking and every time u downshift release the brake, just a tad. Same as in RL, you don't just slam on the brake and hope for the best, do you?) MS sidewinder FF wheel here though, have no idea about brake pressure impact on other wheels. I did check the "amount of foot" needed for 100% braking power in control panel/game controllers and it turns out that I never use 100% power anyway. No need to. Also (in-game), my brake and throttle settings are on 100% sensitivity or whatever it's called. As per Magny-cours straight, you can be 20 meters behind the car you're trying to pass - once it hits the brakes you can get by, no problem. You're braking less, pass him on the inside (or at least get on his flank), then you slow down to appropriate speed to make that nasty hairpin in 1st gear. Funny, I thought AI were bad under braking. Not to mention their epic struggle in chicanes Perhaps it's just my car setup, dunno. PM me and I can mail them to you.

Does anybody have problems with the brakes cause with the AI difficulty on 100% they outbrake me by so much its embarrasing .I have´nt changed the brakes setup or anything and I dont lock the brakes up and it just feels that it doesnt brake enough,so I dont know what it could be. I am racing with a Playstation2 Gran Turismo wheel and pedals on a USB adapter and maybe this is not very effective but I havent got another wheel to tryout. If anyone could give me some advice it would be much apreciated cause it just isnt any fun getting beaten all the time, cheers Put brake power (pressure) to 90% and DO NOT brake hard, i.e. squeeze it firmly at first, then gently release the pressure and downshift appropriately. U can outbrake any AI, no problem. Sometimes less is more

SimRacing In General / GTR2 / AI speed / fuel consumption
|

Hello guys. Here's my question: while racing 2003 championship in Lambo, I've noticed something very peculiar. AI slows down, bigtime. But OK, we've all noticed that. Now, combine that with a fact that ALL of them pit few laps before race end (100% race length, 114 laps in Magny Cours) and with the fact that fuel consumption in my case is higher than predicted (15% more than predicted, i.e. 20 laps worth of fuel gives me 17, maaaaaybe 18 laps on track), is it possible that AI get screwed by the game? Was fighting for the lead, 8 laps before race end, then they've all pited and I won by a margin of 1minute 12 seconds. And that's just.... dumb My average lap times were in low 1.37s, best AI time was 1.33.smthn (by Lister Storm), although I have no idea how and when And I won't even comment on AI modus operandi in traffic. I'm confused. There. Now I'm off to practice for race no.3, 80kg weight penalty will be a bitch.
