It's a matter of taste as ever, but I played GT5 3 days ago, and I have to say that is a big step forward comparing it with the older GTs, especially for the graphic side... it seems real!
On the other hand, I have to say that the physics of the car, are getting a bit more "realistic" than the other GTs, but we are so far from a SIM handling of the car... of course is my opinion.
Comparing the work that the GTLW has done for the new version of P&G, I can only say that we are on 2 different worlds.
A SIM is thought to get closer to a real behaviour of the car physics, tyres, damages, and if the P&G is arrived at the 3rd version of this mod, is because during these years the GTLW modders discovered a lot of good things into the physic engine of GTR2 to exploit!
A videogame like GT5, is much more oriented on a larger mass of people! They are focused on the graphic side, not on the tyre grip and wear or car physics, that seemed to me to be "standardized" on a single physic and tyre file.
Probably the main difference between the developers of a game like GT5, and a MOD like P&G 3, is the salary of the workers...I guess that for the "Poliphony" guys the password is "SELL", while for the GTLW is "PASSION".
While the Poliphony delayed the GT5 exit, they were probably thinking about: "How can I simulate the movement of this tree when it's windy?"
In the same time, the GTLW guys were probably thinking: "How can I have a different tyre wear and grip on every single tyre? How can I eliminate the understeer of the American tanks in the slow corners?"
These are simply different games in my opinion. They're not comparable in terms of simulation, because there's no comparison at all.
I can only say, that after a lot of time of work, the GTLW is about to pull of a masterpiece for who like the sims, and I've no doubt a lot of people will like it and especially the GTL lovers will change their minds and come back to P&G again
Now let's hope in a xmas present by the GTLW!!!
