Championship standings HERE Grid/server capacity: 22 Track: Mid-America Raceway Download thisCars allowed: Shelby Mustang Boss 302 Download thisPractice: ~19:20 (60 mins) Qualifying: 20:20 (20 mins) Race: 20:40 (20 laps) Time of Day Setting: 14:00 Start: STANDING Tyre wear: Normal Fuel consumption: Normal Server: simracing.org.uk Monday Password: see aboveNotes: (1) It's best if all drivers can make sure they are connected before the Qualifying session as drivers on track during qualifying will not see cars that join after they are on track until they go back to the garage. (2) Please make sure you are fully aware of the SimRacing.org.uk Rules. (3) The AI control should be turned off so that you have control of the car at all times, including pitting. Your player file should therefore read Autopit="0" Force Autopit Off="1" // Forces autopit always off No AI Control="1" // AI never has control over car If you still finding pitting problematic, experience tells us that its less to do with positioning and more to do with approach speed. A slow approach to pit crew chief has proved most reliable. Special Notes: Ignore the start lights. They are out of sync with the game. You must use the Countdown feature and start on "GO".

This looks good, Tony. Does the 3x fuel consumption mean there will be pitstops?

This is a track that wasn't modded in time for last seasons Trans Am series it was the second race in the 1966 season. Tony found it after the series was set in stone. Glad he decided to use it in the Boss 302 series. It is a typical American track of the time, made in 1965 and lasted to around early 90's. Built as a drag strip first and then the track around the property for road racing like Stardust and Greenvalley and many others. Long gone now and is a housing development as many tracks went to this end. Ah, this is a different track to the one I was expecting. There are 2 Mid-Americas, different circuits!

Chock-full of non-constant radius curves - was teenage Tilke involved in the design..? Cheers, Erling

I'm sure the goofy radius corners were a result of the area that this track was built in. It is a very rough area that has many small rolling hills and was heavily wooded type terrain with rocky soil. I'm sure they had to move a lot of dirt to get the area flat for the drag strip which was the priority as the track was just worked into the area that they had to work with. You can see in the overhead picture if T4 would have been radiused evenly, that on exit T5 & T6 would have been tighter and big American cars don't like tight hairpin type curves. Also T8 exit would have created another tighter turn between it and the final right hander going up the drag strip. I read a couple of comments from people that had raced there. One guy stated that he ran a 7L Corvette there and it was considered a 3rd gear race track, only needed 2nd on the last turn and of course 4th on the s/f straight. Only thing I found on times was that some of the big stock cars were running in the 1:56 to 1:59 times. Didn't see any times on the Trans am races, just average speeds.

Interesting observations and info Bob. Sad to see what little remains today. A challenging track; certain corners where it's easy, but quite unwise to put a foot outside the track - trees not far away, and not very forgiving... Cheers, Erling

Not too much to report from me in this event. Had some opening skirmishes with Kurt but after he span off I was left on my own for the remainder of the race, a bit dull actually.
I just can not get a good setup for driving these cars and find that it is a constant battle, particularly exiting turns, to keep them under control. As such not my fave drive this season.
